UX 2.5 OTA Update

On thing I noticed right away that confirmation tones are much bolder. I’m not sure using my lossless Dolby atmos Kygo playlist on Apple Music / CarPlay sounded incrementally better.

Depending on when the TSB was done, it may or may not have the correct/new tape. Even if the TSB was done, Lucid needs to document the correct fix and set TSC as complete so that you get the audio tuning in 2.5.0.

Makes sense. I thought we might be able to save customer service a whole bunch of calls from people who (like me) already had the TSB done, but I guess it's more complicated than that. Works for me anyway, as I already have my annual service scheduled, so the TSC will no doubt be tacked on to the work order.

Maybe try native Tidal or Spotify built into the car? They always sounds better than Carplay even if it was lossless

So, would you please correct me if I'm wrong, @borski?

I had the following completed on 08/01/24:

TSB-B1122-001-01
Cause: The fabric tape covering up the holes on the body are acting like a speaker diaphragm.
Corrections: Remove the fabric tape from the body and replace it with a low-density butyl pad.

I think you are saying that, while the above TSB was completed, and while it improved the bass response significantly, TSC-B0824-001-01 should be completed anyway, as it is an even more effective fix. Or, stated in other words, it's not just an update of the same fix from TSB to TSC status. It's also a better fix.

Sorry for getting into the weeds on this...
Haha yeah, that sucks, I'm sorry. TSB-B1122-001-01 is the old tape; I had the same TSB performed 08/07/2023. :)

You need TSC-B0824-001-01, and once that is complete (in Lucid's tracking system), it will "unlock" the new audio system in software automatically, and you will be delighted.

Wow! I’m amazed by the conditional software feature being “unlocked” based on the completion of a service ticket. Nice

This may be clear to everyone but me but this fix only applies if you have SS Pro. SS is not in scope for this TSC. I texted service and confirmed - in case you were wondering like I did. I keep regretting not getting SSP and DDP. Not going to repeat that mistake with Gravity!

I dropped my car in for service (first time it’s been in after over a year’s ownership) for the driver’s seat back PurLuxe replacement. Much to my surprise there were 4 applicable service campaigns on my car, including the pillar speaker tape. I’m also having an interior trim piece reseated on the driver’s side B pillar as well as a cabin filter replacement. I’m assuming this won’t be a 1 day job.

Oh, wow. That introduces new information...at least to me. I was thinking that, once 2.5 was installed, I would be able to experience the improvement, but not quite as 'robust' as it will be with the new, improved tape. It sounds however, like the update will not even activate without the TSC completed.

Thanks. I just called support to get in the service queue for this update.
... and just like that, I am scheduled for a mobile visit from Costa Mesa next Wednesday. Very quick. Now I just need to get the update before then!!!

From the release notes for 2.5.0:

"NOTE: For some vehicles, a minor adjustment to the vehicle's audio hardware is required to activate the next-generation Surreal Sound Pro. ..."
(emphasis mine)

To be clear, "some" vehicles here means all vehicles, unless you've had this TSC applied. Mine had already had the TSC because it happened to be in service a week or so before the update, but that's what that means.

Thanks for elaborating, @borski! However, IF your statement about Lucid only 'unlocking' the feature post TSC is solely based on your interpretation of that statement in the release notes, I would wonder if it was not just poorly worded. Just imagine how many calls the service centers are going to get if the owners can't even experience a minor improvement while they wait for the TSC fix!

I can already notice SSP improved a lot even without the front woofers fix with 2.5.0. Definitely deeper base coming from the back. Sounds much louder too. Also no need to scroll as much with either volume knob or holding steering toggle to increase/decrease volume. Once TSC is applied I am assuming I should notice even more deeper sounds coming from A-pillars. So no need for TSC to "unlock" improved sound from SSP.

I believe this is undocumented change. I noticed that efficiency numbers now have 2 digit decimals with 2.5.0.

Also as of now the Curb Rash Alert shows as feature unavailable and toggle switch grayed out. i am not sure as to why yet. Maybe due to low light conditions? But I can't even enable it.

Interesting! That change was noted in the 2.4 releases, but was never put in effect...
•An additional decimal point is added to the energy efficiency display (mi/kWh or km/kWh).

Here is the new Off option for regen.
So does regen off mean it'll need to be braked like an ICE vehicle using manual braking?

Thank you Michael. I just checked my last work order from Sept 11 and it was included.
I checked mine from Aug 22, and it was included. And therein lies the problem. If we had to check the paperwork, it means that the change in sound wasn't obvious enough to show a substantial improvement. Perhaps it will be much better when I get the update, but I can't tell how the system would have sounded without the fix after the update, if indeed anything new is enabled without the fix.
