UX 2.5 OTA Update

If you have the v2 of the TCU, it has an eSIM. Lucid does not want you changing it, at least for now.

Can you? Maybe. I haven’t tried. Will it work? I have no idea. You’d need to somehow access the eSIM.

A physical SIM (like in V1 of the TCU) is easier to replace, presumably since you can pop it out and swap it. I haven’t tried that either.
That helps. Thanks, @borski!

As someone who did work on an audio speaker project, I can assure you, it indeed can be wildly different from person to person.
We did a listening test and survey with aprox. 40 staff in the office for our speaker system.
We got almost as many different opinions.
The opinion that won the day was what the "CEO" thought sounded the best, which actually sounded terrible to most of us in engineering.
So the "CEO"settings were ironed out closer to flat, and we recorded those frequencies, and set our production calibration equipment to it, and called it a day.

NOW, that doesn't mean some cars are not having hardware issues with the new software. They very well could be.
But also....sound is insanely personal.
Example, I dislike the new SSP tuning, and my partner "loves" it. (shrug)
I do not believe I have an issue w the new audio, my observation is that I can get the volume barely too high or too low, I’m missing that in between. What used to be volume level, say, 50%, is now 20%. I guess I’m saying that volume level sensitivity is less precise and that there is a big gap b/t soft and loud. I believe someone earlier commented that the “loudness” appeared to be always on. Hoping it’s an easy fix and I’m sure we have not heard the last from Lucid on this audio tweaking. Like my wife constantly reminds me, 1st world problems, we’re not curing cancer here. Last comment, major improvements lately, finally getting toward the vehicle i thought I was purchasing a couple of years ago, and that’s a good thing.

Lower the EQ in an even fashion; -3,-3,-3 is the same as 0,0,0, but then you can turn up the overall gain (aka volume) so it will *feel* like you’re more in the middle of the volume bar.

I also felt the volume control was now too sensitive. Half-steps would've been my choice. And I don't even have the screen reboot/bass boost yet.

HA abruptly cancelled for me today at speed in the carpool lane. AND I could not reengage HA or adaptive cruise.
I had this happen today. I think it happened on a stretch of highway that is not mapped for HA. They need a better way to deal with this situation

Does this circled menu stack do anything for anyone using Tidal?

wow, this is all interesting how the audio changes have been received! I have/was/am critical of the system pre-2.5 OTA, that being said, I have a service appt on Tues for the tape thing but I agree there is already a noticeable diff for the better, but (here we go) I still want MORE! :)

But a great improvement, and can't wait to hear after my service appt too!

After my experience, I truly believe something didn’t quite update properly for some of us. Mine sounded awful for like 4-5 days after the update. Then out of nowhere, it sounded great. It’s been a few days and it still sounds great. Something changed and it wasn’t my ears

I did have ONE time where it sounded like the audio from the speaker on my iPhone really faint and kinda distant, but that isn't what I'm gathering from the broader group. IDk what to say, I'm really sorry some folks are so disappointed with the update, but I think it's an amazing improvement and especially in such a short time that they pulled in that audio engineer from Apple to lead this...sounds like low hanging fruit to me!

If the group thinks this system has too much bass, I would recommend also not moving into anything with a Bose system or Bowers & Wilkinson aka B&W!

After your car downloads and installs 2.5.0, there is something else that is changed in the audio processing after a period of time. Mine took overnight, and changed from awful on the first drive after 2.5.0 to really nice on the second drive the next day. It's normal for this update.

Could it be that the post-butyl-tape software flag in your system was finally properly flipped?

Not quite. I had the fix done before this update ever came out. Then I got 2.5 and the audio sounded exactly the same as 2.4.10. I called the SC and they confirmed they did the "fix" and need to turn it on from their end. The next morning, my car rebooted itself and then BAM, everything was super loud and I had the "upgrade". Except at that point, it sounded horrible. Everything was echoey and the highs were often too high, and basically I couldn't find any settings to make it sound OK. It literally hurt my ears to listen to most stuff over a whisper. 4-5 days later, I was listening to music quietly, and I finally had a drive without my kids in the car, so I turned it up a little and it was shocked, it was clear. Still loud, but now well balanced, etc. So yeah, weird stuff. I had called my local SC the morning that it ended up fixing itself, so maybe there were multiple things they needed to do from their end and only did one? But I called them back the next day and they were as confused as I was about how all of a sudden it sounded as it should.

Interesting! Does any of the OGs know if Lucid has the ability to change/improve things remotely without needing an OTA? Like tuning some parameters, etc?

that is what they did after I called them to ask if I had the proper tape fix. the SC pushed the flag or whatever remotely without my doing anything

I was thinking that was a flag somewhere in their cloud and the car was programmed to do a thing in 2.5.0, when it called home and the flag was found. But having said that, I assume it is quite possible to do other such changes if the provision exists in their codebase. @borski @joec - do you have any thoughts based on your extensive knowledge.

The "flag" is precisely that; they set a variable somewhere in some cloud system and the car eventually picks it up.

I do not know if they can adjust any other parameters remotely, but I'm doubtful.

mindful about the processing power of the computers in pre-2025 vehicles
This is new to me. Did all 2025 models (including Pure) get a computer or processor upgrade? What is known about the types of improvement it should/could offer?

Yes. It just makes the infotainment system a bit more responsive, it doesn't unlock any new features or anything like that.

from everyone’s feedback it seems to me that the audio needs come of days to do calibration after the update
