UX 2.5 OTA Update

I have the car now switched to a second WiFi network at home and app wake-up has been working just fine - this one is on a different router and ISP. Need to do more troubleshooting to figure out what is going on but don’t have enough time until the weekend to do all traffic analysis and stuff.

Might the problem have something to do with one of the two wi-fi options often offered? One with lower speed and greater range (2.4?) and the other with higher speed and lower range (5.0?). Don't hold me to those numbers, but you get my drift.

I have both 2.4G and 5G options available on both routers. With engineering tried all 4 combinations without much luck. I am hoping to speak to engineering at some point with my tech to get to the bottom of this.

With all due respect, I did not miss your point. I understand your position. You, again, missed mine.

I do see every post here. That is how I know that XM is a very small minority’s pet issue. Describing it as a pet issue does not make the car worse, nor is it dismissive; it is simply an accurate description, as the desire for “better XM” comes from a relatively small minority.

That doesn’t make it not an issue. There are plenty of things for Lucid to fix. FFS, @Bobby built an entire website dedicated to bugs and features that Lucid needs / is missing.

2023 Results: https://www.lucidupdates.com/surveys/wishlist.html

2024 results: https://www.lucidupdates.com/surveys/wishlistresults.html

You’ll note: a distinct lack of care about Sirius/XM on either of those surveys, from hundreds of owners. That is why it is a pet issue.

I have my pet issues too; I hate the AC vents. I hate the middle console charging and design (twraps fixed this). There is plenty I don’t like about the car. I’ve said it lots.

There is a lot of dissent here; your assessment that it doesn’t exist is factually incorrect. In fact, over the last month, there has been far more negativity than positivity. I know because, again, mods see and read all posts.

The difference is that most of us recognize that features and bug fixes take time, and can’t all be implemented at once. Prioritization is important.

That your desired feature or someone else’s specific desired feature doesn’t exist or has a bug does not mean, in and of itself, that the Air is falling behind. It just means they don’t have whatever particular feature you care about yet.

It has *lots* of other features other cars don’t have. That’s how cars work. No car has *everything*, or there would be no need to have different cars at all.

I do find it absurd whenever people say things like “there’s no dissent here” on a literal thread where there has been plenty of dissent.

You’re allowed to dissent, complain, be angry, or whatever else. It happens literally all the time, often by mods themselves. But not every dissenting complaint is useful, and not every dissenting complaint is right.

When people complain, sometimes others disagree. It appears that those complaining don’t like that, and the remedy is to call the other person a “fanboy.”

That amuses me, because nobody has yet to call anyone a “hater,” which would be just as dismissive and idiotic.

But whatever, you’ve probably read a few posts and gotten the vibe I guess. Certainly we wouldn’t have a better gauge. You do you.
Very valid points.

Dolby Atmos Dissident - Pearl Jam on Tidal sounds wonderful to my ears 😍

On a related note, here's a question for @borski, or one of the other Home Automation gurus. Do you know if the car has a physical SIM or an eSIM? If it's the latter, I wonder if owners could, at some point, change service providers. Perhaps even change the physical SIM if one could get at it, but I asked one of the manufacturing guys on the factory tour, and his answer was vague and pessimistic. I have a couple free T-Mobile lines languishing about, and T-Mobile has great connectivity in my parking garage compared to AT&T. Especially if a monthly connection charge was initiated, I would switch carriers in a minute if I could.
That depends. There are two versions of the TCU; the first one (what my car has) is a physical SIM. The later one is an eSIM.

To my knowledge, there is no way to swap from one to the other; Lucid has not made available a way to retrofit, and I don’t know if they will.

None of that means you’ll be able to swap the SIM; Lucid would still have to allow that.

I immediately got a warning tone and "Camera Error. Turn your vehicle off and on again" as well as surround view camera view spinning appeared. I logo reset the vehicle but cameras did not appear.
The logo reset, and the nuke reset, only reset the infotainment system. The cameras require a full “sleep” reset.

It’s a software bug in the current release.

Interestingly, when I pulled into the garage the USS distance measurement displayed on the blank camera view
This will always be true. Even if the cameras fail, the ultrasonic and radar and lidar sensors will all still work, so you can still park easily.

I'll let the vehicle sleep and see what happens later/tomorrow.
It’ll be fixed. :)

Thanks, @borski, but I'm not sure I understand your response. Say, for the sake of argument, that your car has an eSIM. I'm guessing that a guru like you would be able to easily reassign the eSIM to another carrier, and I wonder if Lucid would either know or care that you did it. I'm probably missing something...

The only thing I can think listening to some of these reactions is that some folks are having serious issues with their car.

The sound is different. It's certainly expected that some would like the change more than others. The way people are describing it, though, doesn't match what my ears are hearing at all.

Reminds me of all the people talking about Surreal Sound (non pro) before Lucid tweaked that in software. Or the people who complained prior to getting the tape done on their original cars that shipped with no tape at all or loose tape.

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. There's just no way the opinions on this could be this wildly different from one person to another.
As someone who did work on an audio speaker project, I can assure you, it indeed can be wildly different from person to person.
We did a listening test and survey with aprox. 40 staff in the office for our speaker system.
We got almost as many different opinions.
The opinion that won the day was what the "CEO" thought sounded the best, which actually sounded terrible to most of us in engineering.
So the "CEO"settings were ironed out closer to flat, and we recorded those frequencies, and set our production calibration equipment to it, and called it a day.

NOW, that doesn't mean some cars are not having hardware issues with the new software. They very well could be.
But also....sound is insanely personal.
Example, I dislike the new SSP tuning, and my partner "loves" it. (shrug)

Waking the car via the app now working well from 2k miles away!

I had tried toggling the wifi etc with no luck. Glad to see this was fixed via server but would have been good to know that they were actively troubleshooting it on Lucid's end to save me the hassle of trying to change settings and then reaching out to service (with no response).

OK, so this will be my first OTA update. How long should I wait before assuming I've been forgotten? (I still don't have 2.5)

You should have it by now. I suggest that you text customer service, and ask them to push it to you. Typically, if you do not have a new update in 10 days or so, there's a problem.

By the way... Welcome!!!

At this point, it's probably okay to contact support and ask them to push 2.5 to you. It should probably be fully deployed by now.

New problem which I believe started with 2.5 though not entirely certain. My theme lighting defaults back to the factory setting choice every time my car goes to sleep. I correct it to my choice and it resets after sleeping.

Every morning I wish to have the SSP tuning in 2.4 back, you sir are not missing out on much; unless you desired unnecessary loud bass in the rear with washed out vocals. Jk! Check with your Lucid CS you should have the new update by now!

I think the most critical bug to fix in this update is the abrupt “drive assist cancelled” issue that happens randomly for no apparent reason, resulting in suddenly cancelling HA and ACC and triggering regen braking in the middle of the highway, which scared the s*** out of me the first time it happened. I read somewhere it’s related to weak cellular signals in some areas, but I’ve been experiencing it during my regular commute and this never happened before 2.5.

I’m also experiencing the other issues widely reported like the cameras randomly not working and the slow side-view camera view when pressing the turn signal.

One last note I’ve been wanting to share since the 2.4 OTA update; I think the software team should be mindful about the processing power of the computers in pre-2025 vehicles, and should try to limit or optimize the features they throw at these vehicles with each update. Sure, it’s nice to have “Surrounding Object Visualization” in 3D with the depth of view and the horizon line changing based on the vehicle speed, but this amongst other things are slowing down other basic and fundamental features, like the charge/power speedometer responsiveness, it’s very laggy and can’t keep up with the vehicle’s instant torque performance. Or the delay in showing the side view camera when pressing the turn signal. Nice-to-have features and animations shouldn’t negatively impact the essential features that drivers depend on while driving. I miss how fast the side-view camera used to turn on, how responsive the charge/power speedometer was, and how smooth it used to be to switch on DreamDrive with the smooth animation of the charge/power speedometer smoothly fading away without the hiccup that happens now, clearly showing that processing power is struggling with all of these animations.

I encountered the same issue today while using Adaptive Cruise Control on the 5 freeway. Despite ideal road conditions and the absence of any vehicles obstructing my way, the cruise control abruptly turned off. A large but brief error message accompanied the red warning triangle.

I hope they offer retro fit for pre2025

There is a rumor in the street that is in the plan

HA abruptly cancelled for me today at speed in the carpool lane. AND I could not reengage HA or adaptive cruise.

If you have the v2 of the TCU, it has an eSIM. Lucid does not want you changing it, at least for now.

Can you? Maybe. I haven’t tried. Will it work? I have no idea. You’d need to somehow access the eSIM.

A physical SIM (like in V1 of the TCU) is easier to replace, presumably since you can pop it out and swap it. I haven’t tried that either.
