UX 2.5 OTA Update

The same. I pushed quickly to pause the content and adjust the volume. Hey, Lucid's response and phone volume were loud as well, so I adjusted them in the audio settings. Very quick, one-time fix!
Yes the navigation lady scared the heck out of me last night. Entered into volume and turned her down to 50%.

I tried to install this update OTA last night and this morning I got a red box notice on the screen saying “unable to install update…we are checking for a solution to the problem”. Anyone else seeing this?

This was in the release notes:

"NOTE: For some vehicles, a minor adjustment to the vehicle's audio hardware is required to activate the next-generation Surreal Sound Pro. We are offering this upgrade free of charge. You should receive an email with more information about whether your vehicle should be scheduled for a brief service appointment. If you still have questions, contact Lucid Customer Care."

I wonder if it could have anything to do with this?

This happened to me about a year ago after a past update. I was advised to keep the key fobs in the car when updated to prevent this. Later this deactivate my mobile key, which after I re-linked my phone I now also keep in my car during updates.

Since keeping all keys in the car during updates I have not had problems with my keys being unlinked.
I kept mine in the garage next to the car while updating. Keys fobs and mobile app open on the phone watching the update percentages. It was a bit less than the one hour stated. No problems.

I like the extra decimal place on the Trip page regarding miles/kwh.

On updates, my fobs have never been close to the car and I have never had a problem.

It has nothing to do with that. Possibly the download was corrupted. The poster should contact customer service and inquire. The hardware adjustment is simply a special piece of tape that is put in the driver’s and passenger’s footwells of the vehicle to improve the acoustic environment. That’s it.

After every update, I do a soft reset immediately. As others have noted, mobile key pairings can be lost (only on my Samsung NOT iphone curiously) and following the concise instructions for repairing that Buffalo Bob gave, quickly restores function. Mobile key issues are often on the phone side in my experience.

Chalk me up to not a fan of the new bass settings. I agree with the comments that the bass sounds overwhelming and I can hear distortion. I preferred the more neutral previous settings. The funny thing is, I'm not an audiophile and usually listen to podcasts. So it's not a surprise that I don't like the enhanced bass but the fact that I can hear distortion at low volume levels had me fiddling with the equalizer immediately. I don't have SSPro (but have all the hardware) so I don't know it compares but I did have the TSB repair done to the speakers last month.

I wondered the same thing, too. I had all the equalizer controls set to center before and after the 2.5.0 update. We tried the audio update out for the first time yesterday on a little road trip, and we were both astonished at the improvement over what I already thought a very good system.

My go-to track for checking out subtle deep bass is Lyle Lovett's "The Road to Ensenada", and it was a pure, strong, deep rumble that slowly built its way to the surface of the music, just as reproduced on a serious home system. The upper ranges were also crystal clear.

The update had several nifty new features, but this one was a real surprise.

Starboy or Blinding Lights by The Weeknd.

The TSB or the TSC? If you haven’t had the TSC applied, you don’t hear the new system yet, and it will sound (in my opinion) worse until you do.

Otherwise, I have absolutely no idea how it would affect a car without SSP but with the hardware.

That's really interesting. Can you say any more about how this works and why only some cars need it?

Every car with SSP needs it. It’s explained elsewhere in the forum (search TSC) but to make a long story short, the chassis of the car has a small couple inch hole where the front footwell woofers are, under the A-Pillar. That needs covering, because otherwise it causes feedback and distortion. They had previously tried one tape (a TSB was issued for people that complained of distortion or rattle) but have now confirmed and settled on a new one (the new TSC).

If it’s been done (at a recent service), like mine had a week beforehand coincidentally, then you don’t need it anymore.

If you haven’t seen service in a while and haven’t had the TSC applied (and have SSP), you need it. It takes 5 minutes.

Once you have it, and *only* once you have it, eventually the car will reboot and you will have all new sound tuning. And it will sound amazing.

Absolutely. If you look on an old thread that I posted a couple years ago (I’m on mobile otherwise I would search it for you ), you will see that my local service person, Frank, and I identified the source of what seemed at the time like a blown woofer in the driver‘s footwell. As it turned out, it was simply a piece of tape… what looked like black duct tape… covering two circular openings in the aluminum frame nearby. Apparently, when the woofer fired, especially on bass notes, that tape would vibrate and create a sound that mimicked a blown speaker. At first, I truly thought my speaker was blown, but further investigation revealed it was the tape that was the problem. Way back then, my service person performed an improvised fix for the problem: he used some foil backed butyl tape similar to what you’d see used during a window installation on the area. Immediately, the sound in my car improved. I spread the word throughout the forum and numerous people did the same thing to their great satisfaction. I did let Lucid know about this, but unfortunately large companies don’t move as quickly as individuals, and they finally did release a TSC to essentially do this same repair, but using the exact tape that they recommended. Cars with SSP need this “repair“ in order for the newest update to be turned on to maximum effect. As it turns out, the update makes things sound even worse if you did not have not had this tape repair, so Lucid disabled the full effect of the update until it is completed. Even my vehicle, despite having had a prior version of the repair, needed to have it done over with the official Lucid tape. For the last several months, Lucid has been applying this repair to any car in for service for any reason. If your car has not been in for service and you have not received this tape replacement, you should contact service and have it done at your convenience. Then, when 2.5.0 is installed, your sound will be significantly better. I hope that answers the question.

Thanks. Our car has been in for service recently, so I guess that's why this audio update sounds so damn good.

Ah you are right Borski - TSC not TSB.
This is what was done
"Perform TSC-B0824-001-01 Lower A-Pillar Speaker Distortion.
Cause: The fabric tape covering the body holes in the lower A-pillar region is susceptible to vibration and flutter,
acting as an unintended diaphragm and reducing audio quality.
Corrections: Remove the fabric tape, if equipped, from both lower A-pillar body holes, and replace it with a butyl
damping tape patch. If no fabric tape is present, install the butyl damping tape patch."

So I still don't like it even after the TSC done 😂

Have you had the TSC applied? Because that is not even a little bit what it sounds like to me. I have yet to find a single track that distorts the low end at all, at high or low volumes, unless I set the bass to +6
Yes
Summary Job: 1 TSC-B0824-001-01
a couple weeks ago. After some additional listening & testing confirmed at least for me drivers are being over driven at modest levels. Played 30hz test tone and it’s a rattle fest. Played the song Drivers License by Olivia Rodrigo same thing. Brass Monkey by the Beastie Boys is unlistenable.

Well I had a similar weird issue with volume after the update. My volume for music was stuck fairly high and the scroll wheel volume control etc wouldn’t work. I had the volume for touch feedback at zero, and when I changed that, I got no feedback either. So I ended up logo resetting. That fixed it. Seems a reboot after an OTA is always a good thing to do. I normally do that, but hadn’t yet.

adjusting the EQ was the first thing I did. I listened to the new SSP by sitting at both front and rear and noticed that the improvements in bass response might have been too much. In the front driver and passenger seat the base sounds just right with EQ at default for bass. But in the rear the bass is SO MUCH MORE OVERWHELMING, to a point that me and my passenger were getting headaches from it. It sounded like I had a whole Boeing 747 flying over my head, very distracted and couldn’t focus on the clarity of the vocal and instrument. Felt like they were listening to customer feedback but did not test the new system thoroughly enough. My recommendation would be to strike a balance between the previous SSP and the new updated SSP, somewhere in the middle would be great. I miss the clarity and nuances of the old system, but I also applaud the new added bass albeit it might have been too heavy handed. I’ve listened to audio system in the new Genesis G90’s B&O, S class Burmeister, Range Rover’s Meridian and I can tell you right now you can achieve both warm bass presence with clarity of mid range and create a harmonious listening experience without sacrificing one another. And right now the new SSP isn’t there yet.
This! I was curious about Verosk’s observation, so I tried it myself. With the settings adjusted perfectly for me & front passengers, the bass was rich and midtones & highs sounded excellent (my settings were 5, 3, 2). However jumping into the rear seat, the bass was at times overwhelming, to the point where I could see rear seat passengers being annoyed. It would seem that some type of compromise might be necessary between ideal settings for front & rear. I suspect I’ll need to drop bass.

Of course if you have no rear seat passengers, this becomes a non-issue. I just wonder how many would adjust the equalizer depending upon the presence or absence of friends.

Since the update, the “skip forward” button on my steering wheel actually moves the radio station BACK instead of forward

Anyone else having this issue? Haven’t tried a reboot yet

After just spending 2 hrs in the car, fiddling with the equalizers and trying to find a setting that I was satisfied with, I have also come to the conclusion that this sound adjustment was overdone on the bass end. It’s great that Lucid was listening to customers and tried to improve the sound but I think they need to dial it back a bit. In my opinion, some songs sound great but others are now difficult to listen to ( for me anyway ) . To me ( very subjective ), Atmos now sounds worse and non - Atmos tracks have improved somewhat. Listening to Whip It by Devo , I think the vocals now sound very harsh. Most the Atmos Doors tracks sound significantly deteriorated.
Anyway, this is soooo subjective, but this update is a disappointment for my ears. Perhaps with time, I will grow more accustomed to the new sound.

Hmm @windscar911 , been driving with 2.5.0 for 3 days now and the camera issues have started popping up. Did turning off the curb rash feature fix it for y'all or should I just contact service?

If you ever get that issue popping up, I suggest you immediately text or email customer service and let them know exactly what time it happened. It is obviously a bug, and the more data they have the better.
