Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

At this point, as long as get the car this year everything else is gravy. As an aside, they had a Zenith Red GT in the store and it's the first time is seen the color in person. It definitely confirmed I made the right choice in that respect.
I test drove the Zenith Red GT at Short Hills in early June. It's stunning in person with the chameleon like color changing paint. We definitely made the right choice.

Ditto!!! Originally had reserved Stellar White/Tahoe but changed my mind after test driving at Short Hills

That chameleon like quality it has is fabulous. In the bright lights of the studio it really sparkles. The contrast with the Santa Cruz interior really popped as well.

Congratulations! Did you also have a Grand Touring reserved with the old price or did they convert your Touring reservation to Grand Touring keeping the old price? I think a few of us would give consideration to the later.

Pete
I had an old price touring and then made an inquiry about upgrading it an in stock GT with the 2.8% offer with the grandfathered pricing. With the very limited choices from inventory, I was able to take the old price but not the 2.8%. If I wanted the latter I had to go to new production and new price. I also had to give up first choice interior. Their existing stock choices are limited.

I stopped by the Lucid showroom at Fashion Square in Scottsdale today. After showing my son the Lucid, I asked one of the advisors if they had any update on my car. She looked it up and asked if my DA had been in touch. I told her I hadn't heard anything in a couple of weeks. She hesitantly told me my VIN was assigned (Stellar White, reservation Nov. 16, 2021, finalized Nov. 1 2022) and my DA should be in touch soon to finalize payment. She was hesitant as she didn't want to get ahead of the delivery advisor. She said she'd give my DA a "push" to reach out and coordinate next steps. I believe she said they have three delivery advisors for 200 deliveries.

I stopped by the Delivery Center on the way home and saw some very dusty cars locked up. Everything I saw looked to be Grand Touring.

Does your portal say anything different?

My DA has no clue with what is happening. Checked with him on when touring deliveries or VIN assignments would happen and he said, he has no clue. Checked when I can expect VIN to be assigned and he has no clue on that either. Getting a little frustrated to be honest. Booked mine on Nov 6th and still now no update which is little sad...

Did you get the date your VIN was assigned? VIN assignment notifications done manually by DA? Does this mean DA has to manually check to see if VIN Is assigned to send notification to customer?

I think part of the issue is that VINs might be technically "assigned", but that isn't made public to the buyer until after they finish PDI and are about ready to ship and/or deliver. So your DA may have this info, but that info wasn't necessarily supposed to go to you just yet.

The more I think about the theory that many Tourings were produced ahead of time in order to get a head start on EOY deliveries, the more it makes sense to me.

I also have no trouble believing they have only a handful of DAs to handle all of these deliveries.

Your dates and color choice bode well for me, at least. I, too have Stellar White, can see the Apply for Financing link, and finalized on November 1st. Scheduled to chat with my DA tomorrow morning.

What is the exact date of the reservation? May ???

I didn't get the date it was assigned. Hoping to get in touch with my DA in the next couple of days and will update with any info..

While I don't have any insight into the VIN assignments, my guess is they are coming in fast and furious and the DA infrastructure is struggling to manage the communication and deliveries.

This makes me feel better about possibly taking delivery this year. My DA was not so optimistic. I'm still waiting on the VIN and for my profile to show the apply for financing button. Fingers crossed.

Does it worry anyone that they have cars sitting not being delivered and that all of a sudden they have cars ready to be delivered now?

Without context or more information on the destination of these cars or why they are there I would not lose sleep.

Nope.

Not particularly. The bottleneck used to be production. Now it's delivery.

Does it worry anyone that they have cars sitting not being delivered and that all of a sudden they have cars ready to be delivered now?
Not really. In furtherance of what Joec posted today at 1:31pm it is quite possible that an inventory of Tourings were produced but VIN’s were not assigned to customers until such time as PDI and QC could be completed so that this rigorous process could assure the best quality for the cars BEFORE being assigned to a specific customer. This particularly done to facilitate a high customer satisfaction as the flurry of deliveries takes place at EOY.
Just a thought!
