Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

Sure would be helpful to manage expectations if our DAs could provide any insight into whether our ordered configuration is currently built sitting in inventory (awaiting PDI or shipping) or whether it hasn't even been put into the production cycle... Reading VIN assignment is being delayed until ready for shipment, whereas thought it used to be communicated as production started...
On my current build I received my VIN last Monday and the car was already built and waiting for transport to Chicago. It arrived in Chicago on Friday for PDI inspection. Talked with DA today and he mentioned that they (Chicago) will go through the car and then ship to studio in Virginia. Should receive end of this week at earliest or end of next week at latest.

Hi folks, need a help. When do we make the payment for the car? Today I was able to connect with my DA and he mentioned that my vehicle production might happen by Dec 22nd. So I can expect my car to be ready by 4 to 8 weeks after that. Not sure why that big of a wait time, when the production has ramped up and lots of cars are already ready as per bearsshop drone videos. Coming back to my question, so when should we make the payment? My DA sent me the wiring instructions today.

Just got off the phone with my DA. My VIN has indeed been assigned and he expects delivery before the end of the year. Wouldn't specify exact timing, as the car still has to go through PDI and then get shipped to Denver, but production is complete, and I'm pretty confident it will be in my hands sometime in the first half of December. We'll see. PDI could always unearth some major issue, I suppose.

So when you do get that email about applying for financing, I'd say that's very likely a sign your VIN will be not far behind.

Also, he didn't say, but from the looks of it, white is indeed the next color after silver. Not too many whites on our tracker, so I do think they will get through them quickly and move onto whatever color is next.

Best wishes to everyone still patiently waiting. I really do think they want to push to get as many of these cars delivered as possible.

Congrats! Any idea if they are liquidating existing inventory or just pushing out production vehicles?

Congrats! I have both my fingers and toes crossed that a flurry of VINs are incoming :D

Congrats! That bodes well for my white. I think it also confirms the theory that we talked about that many of these cars have already been produced. Hope we both have nice (and unexpected) White Christmas presents.

The responses from these DAs seems so variable that I don't know what to believe anymore. That being said, congratulations @joec. Here’s to hoping that what your DA said is the truth.

Not sure what you mean by existing inventory. Did they produce a bunch of Tourings on the line that are just now being processed and assigned to folks? Yes, that appears to be the case.

I think they made some educated guesses before they started taking finalized orders. But I don’t think at the end of this process there will a whole lot of Tourings unclaimed. We’ll see.

I think a lot depends on the DA, for sure. I know if it were me, I’d probably lean towards not making promises myself. So I’m glad my DA is on that wavelength. He never said anything to me about delivering this year. And he still won’t guarantee that, though he did suggest I get moving on financing. So within 30 days seems very likely.

The thing is, there are still many variables. My car has been produced. But they still have to do final inspection. If that uncovers anything, they need to fix that. Then they have to transport to Colorado, where they have no service center—only a studio. So they need a car carrier for that. Coordination with the staff at that studio. And so on.

So I totally get why we get different messages from different DAs.

Received VIN today, please update tracker. (Stellar White)
Interesting to note that all cars where VIN has been assigned have the Santa Cruz interior. My confirmation and reservation dates were earlier than either of the White exterior where VINs have been assigned. I ordered Tahoe interior. I wonder how much depends on interior color vs exterior color.

FWIW - I ordered a loaded white/Tahoe and have also not received a VIN call yet.

Hmm. That's a new theory. Other than not producing Mojave at all yet, I have not heard of interior color making any difference thus far. I guess we'll see if a different exterior color starts getting VIN assignments before those with silver or white and other interior colors do.

I would think exterior color should be more limiting than interior color. Interior color can be limiting based on supply?

Received a $700 refund from my canceled Touring. Looks like $1000-$300 (based on Pure deposit price).
Did you downgrade at the old pricing for the pure and get a refund for the touring deposit?. Thanks

Wait, say what now? This math ain't Mathin'!! You had 2 reservations -- Touring ($1,000) and Pure ($300) but only got back $700 for the canceled Touring? Where's your other $300?
