Let us have your initial thoughts?
Ok get ready for a long ass TL/DR post, sorry, here’s the bad first, then the good.

(Here’s the really short version: there’s a few problems but I love this damn car anyway and those issues don’t undermine how amazing this vehicle is)

Now here’s the detailed version if you’ve got the patience for my long-windedness:
-home delivery process was fraught with difficulty but not the fault of my DA, it was all courier issues, I literally didn’t know when I was getting my car until an hour before. If you can get the car from a studio/service center instead, do that. My DA was great and it wasn’t her fault, but the process was stressful until I finally got the car.
-the car exterior was seriously dirty, the DA apologized immediately and they’re getting me free pro detailing. She said it got splashed or rained on in between PDI and getting it on the truck to me, but she didn’t want to delay delivery further. It’s ok with me, even though it adds an extra time consuming bump.
-the back roof cantrail on the left above the rear window isn’t flush and is peeling up slightly, seems like the metal wasn’t molded perfectly to seat symmetrically on the glass roof. They’re going to come by soon to assess and fix.
-my daily vs distance charging limit slider doesn’t work right, I can’t set maximum charge below 90% so hopefully they can fix that.
….and that’s it for the negatives, I literally have none past that.

The good:
-the car is stunning in person, the Tahoe interior is so original but not bombastic, I feel fortunate to have such an interesting looking car. Citroen meets BladeRunner is exactly it, just like MotorTrend said.
-like everyone else says, strong regen is STRONG but I’m adjusting. The hardest part is the last 10 feet of stopping, maybe they can make that smoother when you lift off that last bit? I like this though, it’s teaching me to be a good EV driver.
-the ride is better than any other car I’ve driven or ridden in, you are aware of bumps and road feel but they’re muted and it just feels so rock solid. I deliberately took it on the worst road in my town, and it would rattle my wife’s Subaru and my Mercedes AMG lowered suspension like driving on cobblestones, but the Lucid somehow absorbed it all with just small bumps and very little noise.
-the steering feels like a smaller car than it is. As someone who despises BMWs disconnected but precise steering, the Lucid’s gives you 80% of that killer precision you get from BMW, but makes up the difference with superior road feel and feedback you don’t get in BMWs. It also has less body roll than any BMW or Mercedes I’ve driven. I suspect Porsche handles/steers the best out of anything, but I’ve heard Porsche is too crashy to be a good cruiser. This car meanwhile is going to be a road trip missile.
- the technology/software end really isn’t that bad or “unfinished”. Could it be better? Sure. But proximity unlock with my phone works great, I’ve got zero door open/close/lock issues, homelink works, soft close doors work great, the overhead parking cam is incredible, my limited experience with the navigation hasn’t shown any big flaws thus far, though alternate route choices would be appreciated. But I searched for EA chargers and it got it correct and did it quickly.
-The sound system is excellent but not elite (using Tidal master tracks natively and over Bluetooth). Mercedes Burmeister Surround sound system is a bit more “musical” sounding and more dynamic, but Lucid’s is accurate and I’d be thrilled if I didn’t have that Burmeister as the benchmark in my head.
-you go fast easily without feeling it

That’s all I got for now. Looking forward to spending a LOT of time in this car. I’m frankly astounded they’ve only been in production for a little over 6 months and they’re already delivering something this good, and it’s only gonna get better.

I've seen a few owners reporting issues that seems like should've been stopped in PDI but pushed through and told to fix later. I wonder if this is a game plan to get delivery numbers up and bank on owners not minding service coming later on.

That has to be the case, there’s no way any thorough PDI would have let that uneven cantrail slip through. Once you see it you can’t unsee it. It’s not glaring but it’s noticeable, I think because it disrupts the otherwise gorgeous flowing lines of the car.

That slider thing sounds like what happened with me. From what I remember, you can only slide it down when your battery is at that level or lower. So try running it down past 80% and see if you can adjust the slider to the daily driver level.

Otherwise, welcome to the Playas Club

Ah that makes sense. The hi light of my around town jaunt I did this evening was there was one driver I passed going the opposite way who very clearly knew what my car was, his neck almost snapped and jaw dropped as I drove past haha. Most don’t seem to notice the car but the ones who do all have that “holy shit!” look.

Which MB burmeister are you comparing to? There is a big variance in quality of the MB audio systems from the lower end cars to the high-bed. My last one (2018 E400 wagon) was excellent but lacked the soundstage the Lucid can get.

The mid-level one, the surround I think? Mine is 2019 AMG A class, it was a $5000 option (leased car I’m turning in tomorrow) and it sounds fantastic, super punchy and full. Not the 3D S class specific one, which I’m sure is phenomenal. I haven’t spent much time listening to the Lucid’s in detail, just a few tracks, so maybe it is better for other tracks.

Another Tesla-scarred cynic here. You early adopters, make sure to enjoy the white glove, concierge after sales service you’re getting now.

If these cars sell and Lucid Motors really takes off, in five years time you won’t be able to get anybody on the phone.

Any audio that is sent over Bluetooth will get compressed in the transmission (consequences of low power, low bandwidth connection), so your master tracks will lose something in the process. That’s a big reason there’s a push for either more native apps from Lucid, Car/Android Play, or a hard wired connection. There’s so much potential in the Atmos audio and it’s being cut off at the knees for now.

Yup that’s exactly right - you can’t set the max charge limit below what your current charge is. Spin it down to 79% and you can set it to 80% :)

Congrats!

Oh that totally makes sense. And the LTE connection in the car might not be up to the abilities to stream master quality via the Lucid UI Tidal app, so that’s probably why it sounds different. What’s funny is the tidal interface in the car works better than it did in CarPlay in my other car, which is almost unusable and I’ve got resort to using my phone.

Get used to it. Wait till you bring it to dinner or shopping.

Yeah, I ran into that too. I'm pretty sure that's the case.

Here’s the answer as suspected. The car currently can only stream high quality via Tidal, not HiFi or Master.

Search tidal for Atmos, and then listen to some tracks on the car’s native app. The ones that are Atmos encoded sound incredible, even if they’re not yet master quality. The limitation, at present, is network bandwidth - they need to allow the ability to download playlists or tracks, or add CarPlay/wired connection.

Yep, just did that with the Harry Potter soundtrack in Atmos, sounds excellent considering it’s not even HiFI or Master bandwidth. I’m no tech genius but since the car has WiFi and your phone has WiFi, shouldn’t there be a way to make your car a hotspot for your phone and stream full bandwidth that way? Mercedes can do it, albeit with an unnecessarily expensive monthly subscription fee. I guess maybe that’s what they’ll do with wireless CarPlay? My DA did confirm that Wireless CarPlay is coming, not only regular wired via USB.

Question for those better informed, but if CarPlay is wireless (Bluetooth) wouldn't there also be the same limitations getting Dolby quality through the BT connection even using CarPlay as an interface?

Wireless CarPlay uses WiFi not Bluetooth.

Wireless CarPlay uses WiFi not Bluetooth.
Oh, but it still streams from your phone? Still limited by whatever connection your phone is on either LTE or 5G?

That’s my understanding of it. I believe it operates in it’s own wireless network. I’m not sure if Lucid is going Wireless CarPlay or Wired though.
