UX 2.5 OTA Update

I agree there is too much bass distortion now and the volume increase is way over the top. I wouldn’t quite characterize it as a POS stereo though. I think it can be tweaked a bit. I doubt they will dial back on the bass ( because this is what people seem to like ) , but I really feel they should get the volume down to something reasonable. With some songs , if I turn it up a bit for a better volume, there is incredible harshness emanating from the front center speaker, such that the vocals are really difficult to listen too. This seems to only apply to Atmos tracks.
Would you go back by removing the tape? I like my SSP now and wondering if I should skip the tape fix.

I just had the update pushed and immediately installed it. Now, I never got the email about this update and whether or not I need the tape fix, but my car had that tape replaced about a month ago. Anyway, I’m pretty disappointed with the audio. It sounds exactly the same as before. I have no idea what people are talking about. Maybe because the service center didn’t actually put the service bulletin number on my report it’s not flagged correctly?
For unclear reasons, it takes a bit of time to activate the new sound. I installed the update Thursday morning but the sound change didn't happen until Saturday morning when I got in the car. At that time, I was blasted with a wall of body rattling bass at a ridiculously loud volume. That's how I know it finally activated.

I dont like the new sound profile either. The bass is way too much. I dont like it at all. The volume is also too loud. It overpowers everything else. They need to push out another update to rectify it.
Or, if they could just give us more control over the frequency range, that would be ideal!

Just spoke to Plainview Service Center. They said CS was wrong and that my car already got the tape fix when it was in last month. Good to go!
Service should verify the tape applied. My service records also show tape was applied to my car but I was recently told they needed to install a different one when they actually verified it yesterday while I was in for something else.

After every update, I do a soft reset immediately. As others have noted, mobile key pairings can be lost (only on my Samsung NOT iphone curiously) and following the concise instructions for repairing that Buffalo Bob gave, quickly restores function. Mobile key issues are often on the phone side in my experience.

Chalk me up to not a fan of the new bass settings. I agree with the comments that the bass sounds overwhelming and I can hear distortion. I preferred the more neutral previous settings. The funny thing is, I'm not an audiophile and usually listen to podcasts. So it's not a surprise that I don't like the enhanced bass but the fact that I can hear distortion at low volume levels had me fiddling with the equalizer immediately. I don't have SSPro (but have all the hardware) so I don't know it compares but I did have the TSB repair done to the speakers last month.
Spoke too soon. My iPhone became unpaired too (for the first time ever!). Not sure if it was the update. Had some difficulty repairing the iPhone (unlike the Android) and thought I'd share. It was not enough to "remove the vehicle" from the app as instructed because it kept failing to find Lucid-05392. I had to go into the iPhone settings under Bluetooth and also "forget this device" before it would finally repair. Hope this helps and saves someone time if they have the same issue.

I don’t think so, the tape influences the bottom woofers and has no bearing on the other speakers . To me, the vocals , in Atmos , coming from the center speaker sound awful and the tape will not affect that ( at least I don’t think so). If others have a different understanding, please chime in. To me , the center speaker has this very harsh , caustic tone now that was somehow created when the sound was tweaked. That is my opinion, and others will disagree. The more I try to listen to it, the more disappointing it sounds. I understand that this is subjective.

I feel exactly the same way. Muddy bass and harsh vocals. I preferred it before the change. Yes I do have the TSC tape. It was install about a month ago.

I have really tried to have an open mind , but the more I listen , the worse it gets. For me, biggest disappointment in my 26 months of ownership, by far. It is my hope, that there is some leverage in programming that can satisfy multiple preferences. I will mainly listen to instrumentals and non Atmos music from this point on. I better shut the hell up now, because I am getting very redundant.

Wrong verbiage in my post: instead of leverage in programming, it should say leeway in programming .😬😬

I am incredibly amazed at how our ears could be so different.

Of course I believe you.

But wow. Polar opposite.

I’m surprised at the frequency of complaints regarding the new sound profile and even more surprised at the magnitude of dislike by some. Maybe my ears are shot, but I like it (the sound, not the complaints ;)). The only ‘issue’ I have is when the system is tuned to my liking, it’s a bit bass heavy in the rear.

To hell with my rear seat passengers. 😆

Glad it works for you.😉😉😊😊

1) You’ll get an email *either way*, telling you whether you need the fix or are already good, or you’ll find the TSC number on a prior invoice. Many of us have already received the email.

2) The TSC is replacing a piece of tape near, not on, the woofers in the front footwells. There is a sound hole that needs covering up due to the way in which the sound travels. Trivial fix. Once that is done, 2.5.0 has completely redesigned speakers and audio tuning, that works (and is only activated) post-TSC.

*Even if* you previously had the TSB applied with a *different* piece of tape, this is not that. I know it sounds crazy, but crazier things have been discovered before; it makes a massive difference, along with the new tuning.

Everyone please read this comment, or refer to it, so we don’t end up repeating ourselves a bunch of times please. 🙏
Thank you for the detailed explanation. The mobile team is coming Saturday to take care of it. Looking forward to the improved sound.

I have a Touring with SSP and have noticed the bass response improve quite a bit. Does anyone know how long it takes to install the hardware upgrade in service and whether this is a DIY that can be done?
My mobile tech said it’s an “easy” 15 minute job. When I hear easy, I think it’s easy if you have the right tools and training…

Anyone having issue with surround view since this update? I used surround view yesterday and today and it does not load despite restarting the car.

That happened to my car yesterday 9 days after the update but the logo reset fixed it. I have to see if it stays fixed today. I don't think it is related to the update.

I feel the same exact way. The system sounded TERRIBLE before, and now it sounds soooo much better. I love it because the sound was the only negative thing I had to say about the car, prior to this update.

What are rear-seat passengers?

Ah there we go, I went to get into my car just a moment ago and the infotainment system was in a midst of a reboot. Looks like service remotely enabled the upgraded audio. turned on the system and whoa, yea. Crazy. What's interesting is that while I can certainly hear more bass, I still don't FEEL it much. I think my iX spoiled me with the under-seat subwoofers. Overall the sound stage is definitely different now, too. I can't say it's better or worse, just different. But yes, more bass/power, which I'm very happy about.
