Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Pure

Yes, the G80’s handling is not up to that of the Lucid any more than Mercedes EVs are, but that was never the electrified G80’s mission. What it does do is offer more in terms of luxury features and a plusher ride and interior. Different strokes.

I rarely use the touchscreen but rather the I-Drive type jog wheel. It works very well as it does in the BMWs, and no fingerprints. So between that and the numerous steering mounted controls, it makes the reach largely irrelevant for me. I probably sit closer than you, so in the rare instances I reach for the screen it’s not exactly a lunging affair. I tended to use the touchscreen at the onset to dial in all the settings as I like it. With that said, moving the screen closer would have been the better design to please all.
But wait, isnt idrive 8 really good touchscreen wise?

Not many recent updates. Are there many Pure deliveries?

There were several going out of the Millbrae Service center on Wednesday :-)

I also picked up my Pure in Costa Mesa, CA on 4/22. It was a year and a half wait, but totally worth it. Hang in there, the last two months are the toughest.

Just saw my first Fathom Blue in Houston Service Center couple days ago. I really like that color!

Its a tragedy it cant look like this outside. Outside it looks more like silver.
Thus the name —— it is enigmatic for anyone to fathom it’s actually blue color.

Perhaps it should be called almost silver. I wish they offered sapphire blue for the Pure. I had a Porsche in that color. I got a lot of complements.

Finally got my VIN. Hoping for a two week wait till delivery instead of 6. Mine is same spec except without DDP

Thanks for the heads up everyone that posts their updates. My clock will start ticking when they get to the base Pure. However, there are probably many in line before me, with a base Pure, since my reservation was Feb. '22. I'm thinking it might well be a '24 car.

I've seen a few owners that had posted about drive train faults or battery faults (or other system failures) that caused their Lucid Air to become immobile, and then go into service or towed into service. Per the postings, this involved 2-weeks or a month or more of car being in service to troubleshoot and in some cases replace the HV battery. I'm awaiting my Pure in a month (or two) and wanted to get feedback from Pure owners here specifically, now that their Pures have been driven and on the road for over 4 months. Wanted to make sure the above reports are mostly on early versions of GTs as software/components got continuously better. My intention is not have an ICE car as a backup if I'm investing in an EV.

Thanks.

I don't have the experience to directly respond but there shouldn't necessarily be a difference in reliability between the base Pure and the rest of the line. Therefore you could expand your query to all Airs.

I do not have an ICE as backup. I had the battery fault and I was given a rental for the few days it was in the shop (maybe a week?). Lucid made it super easy. I have a DE, though, so it’s possible components have changed by now.

Either way, it definitely isn’t a widespread issue, and there have been fewer reports of it recently, which gives me hope that they’ve modified the components in the later builds.

My suggestion would be not to worry about something that is unlikely to happen to you, and to deal with it if it does, but that’s easier said than done.

FWIW, ICE backups aren’t perfect lol; I was at a funeral in Michigan 2 weeks ago and my best friend’s Honda Odyssey, typically an extremely reliable car, had the alternator blow in the middle of the highway, which then drained the 12v completely. Had to get it towed and fixed to the tune of almost $1000. Any car can fail 🤷‍♂️
