Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Pure

Apparently that was a disguised touring.
Thanks for your insightful and thought provoking input, but he details the extra foot well space in the rear and how the seat is different than in the touring because of that.

Touring has the same battery pack and rear footwell as the Pure.

🙄 Would you care to weigh in on the soft close doors feature as well?

I can confirm no soft close. I remember with the GT I would slam the door but would sort of stop before it fully closes on it's own. The Pure I could fully slam but it feels nice and cushiony rubbery thud.

The frunk is not powered but it raises up nice and smoothly. It does have soft close. After putting down the hood, softly push it down with both palms and it'll automatically close. No need to slam it down.

In terms of power, 400+hp is plenty! Super responsive when I need to speed up. More than enough when I want a fun 0 to 45+ in roads. I did test drive the GT which we did 0 to 70. Unless you're an absolute adrenaline junkie, Pure's power is enough. I actually felt safer with the Pure. With the quietness and smoothness of the ride, I still found myself easily accidentally overspeeding. Not as much and as often as the GT though.

I just woke up and still in bed lol. Will take pictures and do first day impressions later. Rainy outside though, hopefully my garage lighting is decent. Gonna be double fun day with my camera and the Lucid!

So weird about the doors but life could be worse! Love to hear your feedback, and appreciate your pics and everything to follow!

Touring does have soft close, pure does not. As it was a disguised touring, it had soft close doors and most of the mechanical features. They probably replaced the materials and seats, but that is about it.

Materials please! Was the purluxe as smooth, buttery, etc

I would love to see fathom blue on a camera as well.
Purluxe was very nice. Interestingly I was shown/told that when you press you finger down on "real leather" it will wrinkle but when you press on Purluxe it doesn't. It did look very nice and was comfortable. Personally I much prefer the open feeling you get with the glass roof but I think the Pure will be a good model for future sales, even without the tax rebate.

Here are a couple from yesterday in Millbrae. Not sure the camera does justice to the color.

This is getting a little out of hand from my perspective. When placing my order, I was lead to believe that surrond camers were standard, window screens were standard, power frunk and trunk standard, soft close doors were standard, etc...

I am sure, by the time my Pure will be ready, tire pressure monitoring won't be standard, and then get some song and dance that I needed to upgrade to a Touring for that to be included.

I have been a huge Lucid fan-boy, a current reservation holder, and currently own a bunch of LCID. Yes, I drank the Kool-Aid. And here I am seriously considering canceling my order. This sucks.

Sorry for my skepticism but it just sounds redicilous they would put a fake model of a car they are actually producing in a showroom.

rationale: they weren't producing Pures yet, but they were producing Tourings already, so it would be easier to dress down a Touring as a Pure. they either didn't have the tooling or parts for certain Pure. reviewers were told NOT to touch display model (with the Lucid rep whispering because it was basically a disguised Touring), can only see from distance

Rumor has it (unconfirmed) that at the time of that demo model, they had not yet started Pure production officially. So it’s believable that it was a Touring with a Pure interior. But like I said, unconfirmed.

I guess. Just seems like MORE effort to go thru than to actually produce the Pure variant; but ok let’s assume that’s true going forward, wtf are they going to do with a “demo model” car they will eventually sell that is a touring made to look like a Pure! 🤣

My impressions as well. Real leather does wrinkle though it is smoother and softer to the feel. I'm guessing the PurLuxe would hold its form

I dont remember that event date but it seems the Pure didnt start actual production until 2nd week of December? They still had a lot of Touring production to complete. If anything that Touring masquerading as a Pure would be one of its kind collector's item haha. Assuming Touring doesnt get Fathom Blue

They’ll never sell that car. They will replace the demo with a real Pure, then scrap that car for parts.

The studios were full of pre-production GTs six months ago. They didn’t have real GTs to spare.

Interestingly, I’d bet the Pueluxe will wear better. So many of my leather equipped cars showed annoying wrinkles, despite caring for them, as time went on.

When I was at the Studio last week, I was shown the Purluxe seats and the advisor said, “Visually I’d be damned if I can see the difference between this and the leather”. Both felt soft to me.

I hope that’s not true, because that would be a huge waste of inventory and operational resources…
