NACS Megathread

That could be done with Magic Dock. You got permission to use Magic Dock right now without a deal but its numbers are too few to be meaningful.

You need to have permission from EA to use EA. That permission comes in the form of EA app or a monetary payment.

EA and Magic Dock are implemented the same way. You download an app and you give them money. My question is why would access to the NACS superchargers be different? My assumption is that you would do the exact same thing as magic dock. Download app and give tesla money.

Correct.

Right now any brands can charge at a CCS1 compatible Tesla Supercharger called Magic Dock.

You are right that you don't need an OEM "deal" to access Supercharger.

But That's a very limited access because there are only 2 Magic Docks in California and sporadic few in the US.

The "deal" is for access to more than 15,000 Supercharger, it's SDK for your car's own app, navigation and billing system.

If Tesla didn't offer a deal, it would be harder for OEM to switch, especially the Federal standard is CCS1.

OEM takes the deal because it benefits them: those software costs money, those infrastructure cost money but they got the deal for free.

Tesla could open to individual as Magic Dock but the process would be slow. Very few OEM drivers have downloaded Tesla app. With the deal, they don't need to. If you are a Ford, suddenly, millions of Ford owners have NASC option in their own Ford app.

It’s going to be a weird day if the word Lucid ever appears on a Tesla website. I can see Elon leaving that off, even after we get access.

What trickery is this???

Woohoo! The beginning of decluttering of EA charging stations 🤣
It's the Bolts and ID.4s that I'd like to see migrate to Tesla stalls.

That’s from the Tesla app. Apparently, with the right adapter, it’ll work now. I don’t know if anybody has tried it yet, though.

I read that Ford's adapter was made by Tesla. It makes sense for the protection of Tesla's charging equipment. Wouldn't want to try that GOMVEE adapter from Amazon at these voltage and power levels.

Right now Ford has access with GM, Volvo, Polestar, and Rivian to follow in the Spring. Looks like Lucid will take a little longer to integrate.

They already officially announced it would be Q1 2025.

For those that have almost 25 min to spare, see the below video to see the process. I scanned it, and my major takeaway that it was VERY fast to handshake and start charging. No more EA dance to check and double check that charging is working! I'd honestly only every use this if I were roadtripping.

Lol I literally just posted the same thing on the other thread

On Feb 29.

On a Full Moon.

Between 60 and 65 degrees F.

With low barometric pressure.
I'll time it the next time, if 25 seconds is the handshake it's not much better honestly

Ford unleashed its NACS ADAPTERs it gives you an idea how Lucid may also work with Tesla.
