iirc these legacy automakers rarely push software updates and with Lucid we have seen 5+ updates since the initial DE delivery which is probably more software updates you can expect from legacy automakers in their car's lifetime.
We have seen 5+ updates because the software delivered with the cars was crap. Alpha at best. It is finally Beta but no more.

Boot time is very long, Seatbelt warning is the first thing that works and goes off every time I get in the car, Lock/Unlock does not work consistently (this is multiple items), No comfort access, Time to adjust for Profile settings does not start for 40-50seconds vs immediate in any other car, Park distance implementation is awful, No Unlock preferences (driver door all doors),No Car Play or Android auto, No XM satellite support, Profile settings change randomly or (don't work) on a regular basis, Homelink implementation requires multiple interactions (screen button presses) and stops working, Music interface is awful, Phone interface is awful, Nav interface is awful. No way to turn car "off", Phone key unusable as it may or may not work. Non software items Remote is not intuitive, Valet Key requires you to be present to explain how it works, remote can not open trunk (valet question to me was "really?").

Anytime I drive the car Park distance is awful, I have to go through multiple button presses on a touch screen for homelink to shut/open garage door, then press another screen button to get back to park distance that presents false information that is noisy both graphically and audibly, I don't even try to change audio sources while driving as the interface is buggy and has significant lag, if I use the bluetooth for a phone call it frequently locks up the audio system, if I use Nav it frequently locks up. Basically the upper control screen is a hot mess. The lower screen is better for for many items, but still has a text based multi screen interface for many items.

The Costa Mesa service staff is awesome. Yes, they have looked at the car, they had it for over a week recently. The items mention are all easily repeatable.

I am using this car as a daily driver, in three months, the only thing that has gotten better is I have had less full system crashes while driving. Functionality has been added (lane departure, traffic cleared, cruise control...), I would rather the basics like lock/unlock worked consistently. No way in hell I would trust this software to drive for me.
 
How does this interface with Lucids radio?
This does not interface with Lucid, unless Lucid has provided the necessary connector. Usually when the radio interface is compatible, it will say “Ready for XMRadio.” I was just referencing this in the context of what other manufacturers do.

2) Seatbelt warning is the first thing that works and goes off every time I get in the car - I don’t have this problem, but I do happen to buckle as the first thing I do.
3) Lock/Unlock does not work consistently (this is multiple items) - I saw your video, and I don’t have this issue either.
4) No comfort access - I don’t need or want this, but I understand it
5) Time to adjust for Profile settings does not start for 40-50seconds vs immediate in any other car - yup, I find this annoying too. 6) Park distance implementation is awful - What about the parking distance doesn’t work for you? Mine is extremely consistent and is 3 inches off from reality (on the conservative side, which I prefer)
7) No Unlock preferences (driver door all doors) - I don’t want this feature, but understand your concern from previous posts.
8) No Car Play or Android auto - coming, sometime this year theoretically
9) No XM satellite support - not going to happen; the hardware isn’t there
10) Profile settings change randomly or (don't work) on a regular basis - huh? What profile settings change or don’t work?
11) Homelink implementation requires multiple interactions (screen button presses) and stops working - mine occasionally requires me to press it twice, but only if I’m far away. Seems like a short range transmitter; I have never had it stop working, and it comes up 100% of the time i arrive at home via geofencing.
12) Music interface is awful - only bad experience i have is with Tidal and Bluetooth, but Spotify works fine. i agree this is one of the biggest issues.

It's interesting. In reading these boards, I keep thinking that I'm not using the software on my current cars much or they don't have as much software. I've used Android Auto a few times on rental cars, but it always seems to require a USB connection, so it never felt worth it. I have navigation in both cars, but rarely use it. I do enjoy Sirius/XM but mostly listen to the Classical FM station or Bluetooth in my access to Napster (yes, I jumped on the streaming craze with Rhapsody probably 15 years ago and have stayed loyal to that even though I do also have Amazon Music now). Through all of these threads, I'm amazed and impressed by what software can do on cars these days (maybe not Lucid yet). But much like talking to Siri or Alexa, I wonder how much I'll change my 30+ years of behavior to take advantage.

I do expect the car to lock and unlock better and not freeze up, etc. But for me, what I do really, really enjoy doing, is driving. This is what I really look forward to with the Lucid, and if something that seems cool is a pain the in ass to use because of buggy software, I probably won't use it. This is not a pass for them as I definitely understand that for $140k and up, these other touches should work, and I understand that if you're used to them as part of your daily experience, it would be very frustrating. For me though, it is likely to be more user error than anything else. So whenever the car comes, please forgive questions that are likely infant level. But as long as it drives like people are reporting, I will be a happy man.

I will have to give Android Auto another go (whenever it comes out) though just to see what all the fuss is about ;).

In my experience, even traffic aware in-dash systems don't do a good job of this, and I have come to rely on Waze to get me places when there's congestion. I really don't want to have to add a phone holder to the dash to be able to follow nav on my phone.

That is my reason too. I haven’t used any of our in car navigation systems for years, but instead relying on Waze. The Leaf has CarPlay and it pops up on the screen. However, the Sienna does not and I have to have a phone holder which always falls off at the worst times.

The Lucid does get traffic data and has generally picked the same routes (for the most part) as my Google Maps has. That’s one thing that works fairly well for me.

Thats good to know. I have a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia currently and Alfa never bothered to implement traffic in the nav for the American market. Makes the nav useless in Dallas where traffic is a thing.

Ive never really gave it much thought but it seems that in other cars the homeland seat memory audio nav are all separately operated and booted modules. In lucid all functions on a single chip driven device. It would seem to me to reduce boot time the car should wake up at a certain time then nap . Did they take a MB BMW AUDI apart to see how they did it?

If you are referring to Android Auto on the Lucid Air: Android Auto works as well as Apple CarPlay, unfortunately, neither of them are available on the Lucid Air yet.
 
Lucid is making mistakes here. I am considering the Lucid Air, but there are an awful lot of things that are just vaporware. Anyone can make promises, and I suppose some people find that acceptable, but Lucid isn't coming through for its customer base. Example, Apple CarPlay is a must. So where is it? I can get it on cheap sedans but I can't get it on the very expensive Lucid? And I get it - they say it will come out, but when? It is unreasonable for Lucid to basically say. "trust us - we will get you the car in five or six months, and sometime thereafter we will make everything work as we promise." "Just trust us."

So wait! :) Buy after Q3 or whenever it’s released.

Alternatively, reserve now and buy or cancel then. They aren’t lying, just new. But everyone knows what the car is shipping with right now.
