IMO this is this kind of testing is right track to take. Performing tests like this take the observations out of the subjective realm and make them far more objective. For those who don’t like the new sound, do you hear distortion in a frequency sweep?
(There are many to choose from, this one chosen arbitrarily)
CarPlay and flac over usbWhat source are you using? Carplay? Spotify?
Maybe more of us can try to replicate what you are doing exactly.
I’m going to run this now. I’m not sure distortion is the problem as much as they just turned on the old “loudness” setting we used to see on portable devices and it’s ruined the balance. Also, it really does get way too loud way too quicklyIMO this is this kind of testing is right track to take. Yep. Never got the emailI got the update but never got the email. Any others in this situation?
Same problem…Anyone having issues with mobile key after the update? I already unlinked them relinked phone. Car asks for pin every time.
I listen to a ton of Atmos tracks. I have not had this experience.Already done, did not improve the sound.
I do not think Atmos tracks were appropriately tested. Either that or there are car specific issues that have yet to be discovered, which I find unlikely.
You’re not in the minority; most people I’ve spoken to have loved the new sound. But it would appear there is a vocal minority that hates it (and I suspect something is wrong, and it isn’t just their ears).Sounds like I’m in the minority, but I’m really enjoying the sound update. Before the update I felt the Atmos tracks were only subtly different than non-Atmos in making use of the upper and rear speakers. Now I’m picking up much more differentiation among center, upper, and rear. Overall it is much more of a surround sound experience to my ear than it was before the update. I’d be curious to know how the audio engineers (eg @Bunnylebowski ) feel about it. I’m certainly no sound expert, but it’s a positive to my ear.
I listened to both Whip It and a few Fleetwood Mac songs in Atmos. They all sounded great. Please listen to “Whip It” in Atmos. To me it’s simply awful and illustrates the harshness of the front speaker. It is unlistenable because it’s literally piercing and such a huge disappointment compared to pre 2.5. Many of us have had the exact same observation, so it seems like a systemic issue. At anything other than low volume it’s unacceptable. Fleetwood Mac Atmos illustrated the same deficit. If the sound stage remains as is, so be it , but there will be many many disappointed individuals .
I think this is the most important statement here. I know we have a lot of owners here in the San Diego area. Is there anyone amongst us who is dissatisfied with the new sound? If so, let's get together and listen to each other's cars. See if perhaps there is something wrong with yours (mine sounds great). This is going to be the only way to decide whether it is in the ear of the beholder or an actual issue....and I suspect something is wrong, and it isn’t just their ears
Yeah similarly, if anybody around Boston has this update and likes it, I’d love to hear your car in personI think this is the most important statement here. Similar issue with mine. Only happened two times so far since the update. Likely linked to curb Alert but I have not yet played with settings.I think so too. That's when I had the first problem when I was pulling up to the security scan reader at work and the camera failed error popped up.

I’ve just noticed the same thing as of yesterday. The car never wakes up from the app anymoreI tried skimming this thread but i know most people are talking about the sound changes. My biggest issue is my car will no longer wake from app any more. It used to take 30-60 seconds buy after 2.4.x it would wake much faster - maybe 10-15 seconds? I loved it as I often used it to open the doors and trunks for my kids.
With 2.5.0 my app NEVER wakes up the car, even after retrying and waiting 5+ minutes. I’ve tried logo reset and restarting my phone and app. Anyone else have similar issues?
I think it is a problem on their end. Restarting the phone, resetting the car, these kind of things won’t help. This happened once before and they were able to solve it fairly quickly.
