Dream Edition aiyoooo!

I received an e-mail yesterday, and given how underwater I've been at work, I only managed to upgrade my order today. My invite referenced the fact I was being invited to order a Dream Edition because I'd already ordered a Gravity Grand Touring (image attached).

I chose to simply click the 'Design Yours' button instead of calling my specialist. Hope that wasn't a mistake. Interestingly, as I was reviewing each line-item in the checkout flow, I noticed my original $1000 deposit was applied to this upgrade (and, of course, I was charged an additional $1000 for the privilege 🙃). I'd originally ordered with the Ojai Leather interior, but since that's not an option, I'm going with Tahoe, which I was originally on the fence about. But what the hell -- the additional HP is going to be soooo worth it. Remember, I'm coming from a Model X Plaid (1020HP), and occasionally lean into the full throttle (when conditions permit). So glad I'll have that and more in my Gravity Dream Edition -- and a chassis that can actually handle that level of performance (unlike the heavy, under-brake'd, lumbering Model X). New excitement level unlocked! 😃

I assumed this order would push me to the end of the line, but reading comments up-thread, it sounds like the exact opposite is happening (Dream Edition production first, followed by GT). Fingers crossed. Sooo excited for us all!

Ack, I am close to succumbing to this lucid dream. My order was already for an almost fully loaded Gravity anyways, and it will be nice to be first (though maybe a little nerve-wracking) and the power is going to be stupid - like, really stupid. But I was thinking of downgrading from the largest wheel set for ride comfort and range (and cost). I'm a little disappointed that even the mid-range Orion wheel carries a huge range penalty. Does anyone believe there will be decent aftermarket aero wheels available for Gravity? I actually really like the look of the thenewaero rims - they're surprisingly good for aero wheels and I would happily live with them, but they don't offer anything for Lucid as of the moment. With low initial production numbers, I don't know if anyone will be flocking to make Gravity-specific wheels soon, but I don't know if Gravity rims are a common size?

I also was really considering coming off the green, and now I'd almost definitely have to do the green. Does anyone know if the white is maybe more silver-y than white?

Ugh, decisions decisions....

My impression of the Gravity's white is that it is the same as the Air's white. A simple, barely pearl-y white.

Yes. Stellar White and Quantum Grey are the only two Gravity colors that have the same names as their Air counterparts, so I'm pretty sure they are the same colors.

The Air black is "Infinite Black" while the Gravity black is "Abyss Black". I saw both those color chocks in Miami, and there are very subtle differences -- subtle to the point that I don't know why they bothered with differentiating them.

I was in the same place -- after seeing the Lunar Titanium at the West Palm Beach studio, I was planning to switch my order from Aurora Green to Lunar Titanium, assuming it became available by the time my place in the queue came up for production.

Since the Dream Edition at the LA Auto Show in November 2023 was in Lunar Titanium, I was thinking maybe that color was being held back in case a Dream Edition belatedly entered the lineup. As excited as I am to see the Dream Edition show up, I'm a tad disappointed it's not available in that color. I guess there's some other issue with the color, although what it might be escapes me.

The Lunar Titanium is fairly silvery/white -- more so than the Cosmos Silver of the Air. Here's those two colors photographed in sunlight:

I'm with you in that I'm at a total loss why a paint color is held up. And while I can see that it's a bit different than the Air's silver, would anyone have been disappointed if they just used the same silver? "You know, what this Gravity really needs is a silver that's just a hair lighter and more luminous. I'd have been willing to wait for something like that even if I could think of no good reason for a wait to be the case...." Similar comment on the black - did Gravity really need a different black?

I'll have to go back and look at the white in person, maybe on an Air. I'm even tempted by the black - the blackout look is not bad, and might suit a wrap well if I end up going that direction.

The green just seems.... risky. It looks ok I guess, but it's so restrained as to be boring for a $140K car that I'm assuming will rip.

On the Air, there were issues in getting paint to match on the different materials (metal vs plastic) from different suppliers. I have no idea if that's the issue with Lunar Titanium.
I'm leaning toward LT again. However, in light silver, it'll look like any other minivan SUV out there.

I like black cars and have owned a couple. However, my Zenith Red Air is a dust magnet on the rear quarters and trunk like I have never seen -- causing me to wonder if it has something to do with the airflow resulting from its superb aerodynamic performance.

Given the Gravity's focus on aerodynamics, too, I decided to shy away from the darkest colors, and that is one of the reasons I was hoping for the Lunar Titanium. (I like white on certain cars and have had a couple of them, too . . . but the white Airs I've seen just don't do it for me, and I think I would react the same way to a white Gravity.)

The Aurora Green is about as dark as I would want to go on the Gravity, hoping it might show dust a bit less than the red Air. I've seen the Aurora Green in person at a Design Studio, and it's the handsomest green I've seen on a vehicle -- sort of a silvery olive.

Frankly, I was surprised the range penalty (on largest wheel set) was only ~16 miles, vs. my previous order which was largely the same spec. It's still a bonus compared to the ~200 mi real-world range I get in my MX Plaid (which, if babied on the highway is supposed to yield a max of 294 miles). I do have a lead foot though. Gravity is going to kick its ass!

[edit = removed apostrophe from 'its' <-- a pet peeve]

I generally agree, but back in December I was at a Lucid and Lattes event in Princeton, NJ where I had the pleasure of seeing an Air GT in White / Stealth with Tahoe Interior. Simply STUNNING in every way...

Interesting. That's why we ordered our Model S Plaid in white. We were at a service center shortly after they started deliveries and saw a white one with the black rear spoiler and black wheels, and it really popped with the stark contrasts. But for some reason, I don't have the same reaction with the Lucid in that color.

Got the Dream edition email, I responded with the following questions (if they want my ~20k extra, hopefully they can respond 😂)

Questions :
1. It seems the only wheel options are 21/22 / 22/23 for the Dream edition, would it be possible to purchase 20/21s and swap them out for higher range later?
2. What is the estimated 0-60 time with 1070 HP? (We know it's 3.4s for 828HP GT)
3. What is the approximate delivery timeline for Dream edition vs GT? (Just ballpark is fine)
4. What accessories would be included? (would it include charging like Lucid Connected Home Charging Station)
5. Is Gravity available to finance / lease with Lucid financial?

Also appreciate if anyone here has any insight into these

Great questions! I have same/similar question too. I assume there will be no lease offer on dream edition and that is a primary reason why I haven’t ordered. My current stance for EV is lease only, and if I can’t lease, I am out of that trim. I assume most others are willing and able to purchase out right, and that probably makes sense if you are opting for the dream edition.

I share most of your questions, but I don't think sales advisors have any of the answers, and to the extent that they give you answers, they are most likely sheer guesses or based on a rumor mill that has as much chance of being wrong as right.

Yup, I already asked my sales advisor and he didn't have the answers so replied directly to the email (shot in the dark but worth a try)

Personally I would not upgrade without having my questions answered

I have the same question. Although I ordered the 22/23" wheels on the Grand Touring Gravity and kept that choice for the Dream, I hope to do a cross-country drive at some point in the Gravity Dream. For that I would want to mount the 20/21" wheels with the Hankook tires. (Although I don't like the wet performance of the Hankooks, much of the greater range on that combo seems to come from those particular tires, as they have the same width as on the other wheel options, and the 21/22" wheels also seem to be an aero design similar to the smallest wheels.)

With the Air Dream Edition Range, Lucid strove to make the Dream the longest-range car in the lineup. To have gotten anywhere close to that with the Gravity Dream would have required the 20/21" Hankook combo. So I'm wondering if there is something about the greater power of the Dream along with the weigh of the vehicle that makes that combo inadvisable.

Totally agree, leasing is smart with EVs, hoping the 7500 lease credit will still be around when Gravity GTs are going into production

I have another question, although it will not affect my decision to go with the Dream Edition:

What cellular carrier will the Gravity use? Our Air uses AT&T, and we have miserable coverage with them where we live.

If the Gravity stays with AT&T, will it retain the ability to read USB music sticks as a backup for music.

So, for giggles, I called the number in my DE invite and asked a few of the questions - and some new ones - and got basically "I don't know" to all of them.

Can I change my configuration later? i.e. if I order Green now but decide in a few weeks that I want Black instead, am I locked in more than with my GT order? - "I don't know."
Any idea on deliveries? - "I don't know. Probably within the next few months but honestly we don't really know."
If I decide in a few weeks that I actually don't want DE after all, can my additional deposit be put towards a GT? "I don't really know."

The associate was very nice and promised to get back to me with more information, but she also noted that this was only just announced and it sounded like the SAs are mostly in the dark themselves.

It does sound like your 2nd $1000 is non-refundable - I think the first $1000 was refundable. Does this make $2000 that's non-refundable? Or the first $1000 is refundable and the 2nd isn't? But maybe could be applied to a GT? I'll need those answers, I think, before upgrading.

The dream should always be long range + amazing performance! 😂

Exactly, would be super cool to be able to do a swap, but the fact that they don't have it in the configurator (likely due to the extra HP you mentioned) makes me worry about software compatibility with dream edition to calibrate a wheel swap
