- Air, gravity ordered
4-23-25 I was able to test drive the GGT (green) in San Jose, CA. Drive lasted about 15 minutes on basic city streets.
Overall Impression
The reviews are not hyperbole - the GGT is really impressive. It has all the excitement, comfort, and drive of the Air - but EVERYTHING is just more refined, more dialed in. On some angles it does look like a mini-van 'esk' but only when at the lowest ride height and only from some angles. I think it looks boss.
Specifics (in no particular order)
- Driver physical visibility is better than the Air both in over the left shoulder blind spot as well as left A pillar.
- Driver ergonomics are like a hand in an Italian leather glove - amazing. (if it doesn't fit you must acquit.
- Turning radius with rear steer is fantastic - you can make tight turns very easily.
- Interior space doesn't feel like a giant open cave, yet at the same time there is more legroom and room generally than any SUV I've ridden in - except for Vans.
- Doubling down on legroom - the middle row and third row seat legroom and overall room is mind blowing. There really is enough room for 7 adults - no knees touching, no squishing.
- Steering Squircle feels great - non issue.
- Acceleration is within .1 seconds of the Air - and you feel it.
- They are saying that Range with the 20/21 wheels and 5 seats is 450. With 20/21 and 7 seats is 437.
- HUD is out for GGT currently. They said it is a tariff supply chain issue and that future GGT's will have HUD option. (so that kinda sucks)
- Didn't sit in the frunk because I don't care, but it looked cool.
- Visually when driving it felt long but not 'big' if that makes sense.
- Dash display above the steering squircle is very nice and informative. Slightly different than Air and didn't have enough time to truly play with it. Intuitive but it will take a little getting used to the new layouts.
- Was told that Green, then Black, then White are the most popular colors so if you have ordered one of those colors you will likely get your GGT sooner than other colors.
Comments
I've ordered White with Stealth, 20/21 wheels, Mojave Premium, full options and feel good about that order.
Debating heavily about 5 or 7 seats and Mojave Premium v. Yosemite Premium. (leaning toward Yosemite)
Primary goal in ordering GGT is range in an SUV to get from San Jose to Tahoe (North Shore) which is 237 miles. I like to drive 80 - 85 and don't want to stop so that's why I want 450 mile range.
While I was excited about the Dream Edition, losing the range for me is what matters the most. AND the acceleration in sprint is already enough.
