Dream Edition aiyoooo!

I wonder if the 9 delivered vehicles in late December were DE's or GT's.
Also, I think DE deliveries are imminent. Just my gut feeling.
This is exciting, the gears are finally moving.

Interesting that there's only a 7-mile EPA range penalty for the Dream Edition given the same tire/wheel option.

My plan was to take Eric Bach's suggestion and order the 22/23" wheels for local driving and buy an extra set of the 20/21" wheels for long road trips. But I see that the DE only offers the option for the mid-size and large-size wheels. I wonder if the combination of weight and power in the Dream Edition makes the smallest wheel option unsuitable?

With the Air Dream Edition Range the aim was to make it the longest-range version of the Air. It seems Lucid is not doing that with the Gravity.

Looks like DE is invite only.

Oh, I've done my share of naysaying about some of Lucid's marketing decisions. But how about just letting us Dream afficionados have a little room to celebrate its arrival for a while.

I'm pretty sure the Gravity DE has different motors, just as the Air Dream Edition had different motors from the Air Grand Touring. In fact, there was even a different front axle motor between the Air Dream Range and the Air Dream Performance.
This is correct. It is not just software.

I got a similar email. I wonder when we're going to find out if there are any other differences with the Dream Edition other than the extra power and some badging. I noticed in the order configurator illustration of the interior that there was a "Dream Edition" label on the glass center console lid, but the "Dream Edition" label embossed into the leather that was on the L.A. show car's front door panels was missing.

This also answered an earlier question. The Gravity Dream is going to be a limited edition instead of an ongoing trim level.

I have the option to order the Dream Edition now on the web page. I'm not an existing owner and I didn't get an email, not yet anyway. Hopefully there will be more info soon on the exact differences. The vehicle comparison tool still just shows the GT.

PS Well, look at that, just got the email.

Must be quality of purchases over quantity. I've purchase 3 Airs, with a Touring being the highest trim, and I didn't get an email.

I thought you posted earlier that the multiple Airs, as well as the multiple Teslas, and the EQS SUV, and the Audi Q8 eTron, and the Rivian that you've had in the past few years were all lease cars?

Seems like the Dream Edition is mostly just a way to pay more to get the car earlier.

The email starts with “As a Lucid Air Dream Edition owner, …” and mentions it is invitation-only, so it seems existing DE owners got dibs. My suspicion is if there isn’t a ton of take-up (or maybe even if there is) they may open it up to others later. Or maybe not! No idea.

But it does seem the initial tranche is exclusive to existing DE owners at least.

Of course, eagle-eyed @hydbob found before anyone got an email, so now everyone knows. :)

should i read this as "if i don't want the DE I should now expect to wait even longer?"

I'm tempted but I really don't need to spend the extra dough and I was actually thinking of downgrading from the biggest wheels to one of the smaller sizes (IIRC they did not release range estimates on the middle Orion wheel option, is that right?) to achieve the full range estimate and saving a few bucks in the meantime. I was also thinking of switching to the darker grey (from green) and now that's not an option.

I should look through the site more but it's hard for me to tell how much range I'd be sacrificing to go DE vs. my current config.

I also don't see a 0-60 time listed; the extra horses would be fun but only under limited circumstances. Am I missing the 0-60?

I mean, and 242 HP. Some whole cars make less than 242 HP.

I can tell you the difference between my 1111HP DE and an 819HP GT is massive, for me.

Nobody needs that HP, lol.

But it’s more than just getting the car earlier. All the other stuff (badging, etc.) is just niceties; you’re paying $14,400 over the fully-loaded GT for the extra HP. It’s essentially the “performance edition,” much like the Air DE was before the Air Sapphire.

I'm not an Air DE owner and I got the email at 2:21 EST. Mine referenced the fact that I was a Gravity GT reservation holder. Err, orderer.

I see a 70mi range difference:

No. If they’re limited it to existing DE owners they’re making *less* than 520. I don’t see this slowing down ramp at all; if anything, DE buyers are just the guinea pigs.

Just guinea pigs that can go really fast :p

Then do that! The choices are there for a reason. I want the performance, but it’s my wife’s car, so it’s not up to me. I can only advise and plead :D

They haven’t announced it. It will obviously be better. But this isn’t a track car; the performance is for the road and canyoning, not the track, imho.
