Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

I may consider that option but not sure if that is going to push the process out at this point. Will check with my SA to see what he says. Thanks for sharing.

I know they can build Rome in a day but not a car, so I think some DAs contact customers when there is something significant and others more frequent just to maintain contact. I think that's where I see the different levels of frustration among the members here. I'd say be patient. I don't think Lucid would want to deliver a product that isn't satisfactory. Until the key fob is in my hands, I'm in the same boat as the rest of you with VINs and "in production" but no car yet.

I think you have the only VIN with a Tahoe interior.
 
My DA just called me. He has no idea why I haven't been assigned a VIN yet when other Zenith Red's with Santa Cruz have been assigned. He tried and tried to get me to switch to another configuration namely Quantum Grey and I turned it down. For a car that's going to cost me $113,900 I'm not budging on my color combination. I asked him was it because I'm on the East Coast he and said he didn't think so especially when I placed my original reservation back in June of 2021. I explained to him that I'm disappointed and if it does turn out that we won't get the tax credit for 2023 deliveries, I expect Lucid to make us whole by taking $7,500 off the price of my car.

I also have ZR/SC and still waiting for VIN. I can see that the ones with a VIN had finalized their design before me. Lucid is prioritizing final design date over order date. I’m hopeful for a VIN this weekend.

They can't possibly be doing this. I finalized my configuration 10/26/22. I'm in that first batch of order finalization emails that were sent out on 10/26/22. As far as converting our contracts to non-refundable prior to in the Inflation Reduction Act passing, I'm also one of the early ones to do so. I converted my order to non-refundable on 8/10/22.

Like I said and like my DA said, he has no idea why my VIN hasn't been assigned.

That doesn't appear to be conpletely true, given my finalization date is before someone with a VIN. I'm sure there is some logic to it, but I doubt we enough of the pieces to know in the end. Their caginess about it all is disappointing. That said I am hoping for a VIN in the new few days as well.

People need to stop acting so entitled. Enough with the "i expect lucid" and "i demand". The cars will be ready when they are ready. The DAs have absolutely no control over this. And the tax break has nothing to do with Lucid.

I stand corrected. Lucid must be doing this manually and f’ ed up. You should have a VIN.

This is a BIG assumption - that Lucid prioritizes using the reservation date. If so, then PatrickZWang should be getting a text or email very soon, as he is ahead of me by over 4 months with the same configuration and we both finalized on the same date. AND he is in California. Hopefully he chimes in with an affirmative tomorrow. Dr. Chill is ahead of me but he is happy with his black one.

Got a call from my DA this evening. Car is finished with PDI and just about to get loaded on a truck headed to Denver. I made my ACH payment. Looking like this journey may finally be reaching its conclusion soon.

First of all, it has EVERYTHING to do with Lucid especially if it turns out the binding contract language required 5%. Second, I'll say whatever the hell I want to say when my $100K is on the line! The bottom-line, this is a mess and Lucid needs to fix it!

Nope. I asked my sales advisor months ago if I could at least make my down payment via my Amex and she said it wasn't an option.

Lucid knows when a car starts production. They know when a VIN is ready for assignment. They do not appear to have an automated process to make the assignment in a fair, logical, timely manner.

@Babyrocko1908 - I'm in NJ and have the ZR/SC configuration - so shouldn't be an east coast thing. Doesn't seem to make sense since you're a bit earlier than me on reserving and finalizing.
 
Quick review and I put on 80 miles today driving around.

My reaction: I LOVE THIS CAR. It has plenty of power, very comfortable, responsive, sound system is great. I adjusted to driving it quickly. My software is current.

I’m 5’ 10” and I didn’t even adjust the seats and I was comfortable.

The console is not complicated or distracting.

The car is ready to go as soon as I approach it and coming from ICE driving it is so cool to jump in and go.

Getting front PPF soon as it was recommended from the delivery agent.
