October OTA Feedback thread

My key fob is on a lanyard around my neck, so it is not buried anywhere.. Been using it that way since I got it. Never had the “not detected” message until 2.0.12. I have seen the message come and go away, but I have had 4 cases where I have parked to let someone in or out of the car and I have to enter the PIN before I can drive it again. Yes, key detection is on. I even have reassigned the key to my profile but that has not helped.
Yea I haven’t seen the error message since 🤷‍♂️, must have something to do with the fob update that occurred.

I haven’t been using the Fob, but had a similar issue with the mobile key. Getting into the car after charging at an EA station, the alarm went off. I figured that all I needed to do is press on the brake and it would stop, since I had the mobile phone with me, but it continued. I opened the Lucid app and pressed unlock and the alarm stopped, but now the car was asking for PIN to drive. I gave up and entered the PIN (v2.0.12 software).

Maybe consider doing away with the fob and going phone only? Works flawlessly now. I keep the black card in my wallet just in case but haven’t needed it yet.

Phone key is so flawless now, it most likely surpass Rivian. I have watched many YouTubers complain of Rivian mobile key. For Polestar, I have to hold phone and touch door handle to unlock. Lucid works perfect, It only took them 11 months and UX2.0 to get it right, Polestar took 2 years. Tesla probably even longer time of hiccups.

A few more things I've noticed:
  1. Bug: When utilizing Highway Assist, the "Pay Attention" steering wheel prompt appears every 1-3 minutes when keeping your hands on the bottom area of the steering wheel (comfort driving). It does not do well with this situation while competitors are perfectly fine with it. You basically have to keep your hands on the 9-5 in order to mitigate the prompt which is fatiguing on a comfortable drive and fairly undesirable.
  2. Bug: The miles/kW display is now only under Trips on the Pilot panel and no longer displays on the instrument cluster. I believe I saw this mentioned somewhere, but am unsure. There's a clear gap for it on the panel, it just doesn't render there nor is there an option under settings to re-enable displaying it there.

I have not had any issues having both hands on the bottom of the steering wheel, but I have with only one hand.

The second one is not really a bug. They removed it and replace it with a different display that shows miles remaining upon arrival during navigation. Personally, I’d rather have both. You can still find the information in the Pilot Panel settings screen under Vehicle. It’s just not as readily available. Hopefully, they will bring it back.

It takes some experimentation to find the areas on your wheel that aren't dead zones. 9-3, 10-2 seem to definitely be sweet spots. On the bottom flat part of the wheel, I am able to use just 2 fingers in an overhand style (2 fingers on top of that section of wheel) to keep it from alarming (@hmp10 pointed this out) but not toward where the flat part joins the curved part. YMMV so trying to hold parts of the wheel that are acceptable to you with your hand over the inside or the outside of the wheel should yield a place you find comfortable.

Are you holding the wheel palms up or down? I can't get it to work palms up which is how I want to hold it but it works palm down (and it works using only 2 fingers that way).

There are a handful of us where the phone mobile key just doesn't work or only works intermittently. Went by the SC again today, and they were all still mystified without any real suggestions for a fix.

Palms down. It takes a bit of getting used to but once you do it isn’t annoying.

Cue the “you’re holding it wrong” jokes 😂

I wonder if soon there may be steering wheel counterweight flooding in the marketplace for Lucid Air?…

I had this problem in previous software versions several times due to hardware repairs they performed, like changing out some computer modules. The fix was for them to clear out old mobile key entries in the Access Control Module (ACM). In both cases they came to my home and did the work. Doing a factory reset does not fix this problem. It seems the factory reset does not clear out the ACM or WiFi entries.

Does anyone know how to tell if the key fob updated? For the original 2.0 updated if you were in the car you were instructed to leave your fob in the car to be updated. If you are lazy like me and sleeping in the phone notification just asked if you wanted to update now and hit confirm which I did ensuring another hour of sleep. problem was I didn't know about the fob until after the update was finished. So ho can I tell up later updates took care of that ?

And Lucid. You might take note to include that extra instruction when you send push notifications for 2.0 to the rest of the gang.

Why? You like your phone. I like the fob. I would not tell you to use the fob if your phone had issues. We would both say they need to fix the issue. I have the phone and the card as backups.

Lucid said in the instructions to keep the fob in the car even on the phone app. They can’t force people to read but it was called out in the notes before starting

How about you both compromise and just use the valet card only 😂

yes I saw. But When you get a phone notification to start an update remotely like I often do there is no access to this screen. You just confirm on your phone any it updates.

Sorry to set you off like that. You had originally posted complaining of a problem with your key fob and I offered a possible solution since I have not encountered that problem with the phone key. Isn’t that the purpose of this board?

Oh yeah, you need to click “learn more” to see that info.
