New HV Battery

Good luck with replacement
How many miles did you have on battery?
13,700
Agree it’s not a bad thing. I’ll have a loaner, so doesn’t really matter if it takes a few days, and I get a fresh battery. No complaints, and I appreciate that Lucid is on top of it.

I agree also. I applaud Lucid for being proactive on this.

Add me to the list - my touring went in this am in Atlanta. Got a GT loaner so they can take as long as they want! :)

I wonder how much all these battery replacements are costing Lucid? I’m sure they’re recouping some of this from the supplier, but how much. Parts aside, It’s still a very labor intensive operation.

Any idea what percentage of delivered cars have needed battery replacement?
Overall still seems like very few?

Unless the issue lies in the cells themselves, Lucid is the supplier. They build their own modules in Casa Grande. It was originally done in a facility a few miles from the assembly plant, but I believe they've now moved the operation into the main plant.

As an owner a new battery replacing one with a lot of miles is a bonus and the warranty is 8 year/$100,000 miles
But for lucid could be costly unless the numbers are small and the issue solved going forward

Seems to be quite a few just on this forum.
Obviously it’s an issue…. But good news you’re getting a new battery.

I have just been contacted by Lucid Seattle Service center for a battery replacement. They will be picking up my car on June 12 and it should take about 3-4 weeks. There was no specific fault detected and the implication was that this replacement is preventative. They must have a significant concern around batteries installed earlier in production.
Anyway, I think it’s stellar that they are being proactive and it makes me personally more loyal to the brand .
Will miss my car during this awesome time of the year, so back to the Prius it is.😜😜😜

Add me to the list. Car is going in for its 2 year maintenance and the HV battery replacement is listed on my DocuSign. No complaints about a new battery after almost 27k miles.
Manufacturing date?
Did you ever have charging errors while starting a charging session at home or EA?

I was on the phone yesterday with a friend in upstate New York. He had bought a Dream Edition on my recommendation and took delivery of it in November 2021. He was telling me it was in the Boston service center for some recalls and software updates which were going to take a couple of weeks. He's sort of clueless when it comes to cars, and that sounded a bit suspicious to me. So I asked him if they said anything about replacing his HV battery pack. He wasn't sure, but a couple of hours later his DocuSign work order showed up in my email inbox. On the bottom of the third page was listed replacement of the HV battery pack.

Apparently his car was still operating normally, at least insofar as anything he noticed.

The battery pack (and rear drive unit) have been replaced in my February/March 2022 Dream Edition build as well.

I sometimes get charging error message
Instructing to unplug and replug
Charging light turns red
They checked my battery/charging system and there were no issues
Seems more like a software issue sometimes requires soft reset

Update to my prior post on May 4: HV battery replacement was just completed at my scheduled 2 year service. It was faster than I expected. Dropped off Monday morning, and ready at noon Wednesday, so 2.5 days including other routine and minor service items. They told me there were no faults or other triggers for the replacement. They said there was a battery technology upgrade that was significant enough that they decided to replace HV batteries for all vehicles manufactured prior to the upgrade. They described it as Dream and early GTs. I don’t know what “early GTs” means exactly, but presumably at minimum most people with a manufacture date before mine (2/22) should anticipate a replacement at some point.

Interesting - I wonder what the cutoff date is. My GT was made 9/22, well after yours.

That’s very close to my build date; I would give them a call and inquire

They are not providing you with a loaner? I had a GT with 20" wheels to drive for two weeks while my 19" GT was in for the HV battery replacement last Fall. Turning in/receiving my car back from Natick was seamless, but I missed my 19" wheels on crappy New England roads.
