Yay Hardware upgrade CPU and memory

I called Natick to schedule this service and they had no idea what was going on and didn't even want to try to schedule it yet. The SA there said he would call me back
Thanks for sharing this anecdote. Please keep us Boston area folks posted!

I have 2024 Pure manufactured in April 2024. I did not get this email and my infotainment is pretty snappy already. Is there any way to find out if 2024s already got the updated chip? @marqie is there a way for a customer to find out?

Any benefits other than snappiness?
While the DE #40 had become very stable over time, the Sapphire with this processor has required maybe 2 resets since October of 23. Wireless CarPlay becomes seamless. After a while you don’t notice the “snappiness”. The UI becomes less notable because it just works.

I can find 0 appointments available in the app for Millbrae over the next 3 months, has anyone had success calling Millbrae to schedule?

*Edit - Called and they scheduled me for 8/12

I am wondering if "chip" replacement is really an accurate description. I would think it a lot more likely that it's a Single Board Computer (SBC) or module being replaced and "chip" is a term used by non-tech folks to describe the change.

I could be completely wrong, but the description of twice the storage and memory seems unlikely for a single chip.

Booked for the 24th - which was the only availability in the app for the Tysons service center.

Snappier interface is great and welcome. My main reason for doing this, though, is that I fully expect the upgrade to be a prerequisite for future software improvements, whether it's sentry mode, self-driving or whatever. Kind of like when I got the MCU2 in my first Model S. I'm slightly excited that the availability of the CCCv2 might suggest that such software improvements may be just around the corner ... here's hoping :D
I tried at Tyson Corner, I even called and they told me they dont have the hardware yet, the email was sent out before they got stocked. So no appt available.

I had the DFW mobile tech at my place today for another service. He told me they will do this as a mobile service in the DFW area. He said the procedure is straightforward and the time consuming aspect is the OTA - which could take up to 3 hrs. Just FYI as some are being told it can’t be done by mobile service.

Some later model 2024s have the upgraded unit. Your service center will be able to confirm whether your car has it.

Yup, the CCC is one of many SBCs (or ECUs in dusty old automotive terms) in the car. The whole module is replaced, it does not have removable RAM or a socketed CPU like a desktop PC.

Also to clarify a previous post before some of you get excited: while there likely is a software "update" involved in installing the new module, I don't think it's a new update. It's the same update (2.7 or whatever), but configured for this new hardware. Not new features, just a port.

There are no future updates to share at this time related to the infotainment processor upgrade. The benefits of the upgrade are increased storage and memory, and faster compute power.
When my service center called me to confirm my appointment, they made sure I understood that there was no functionality improvement at this time, just improved responsiveness, and that I really agreed I was to pay $950 + tax for this. Which I am happy to do.

I did hear from a Lucid employee at the recent KoP Lucid Owners event that the newer CCC would be important to support future planned functionality, but no specifics beyond that were shared - and I would not expect @marqie to able to speak to any of that at all.
