12 Months In, and I'm Out.

I understand your concerns. But even established luxury car makers are having these types of software issues:

CR says it expects the Mercedes EQS to be less reliable than other electric cars.

If you are trying to avoid having these issues on an expensive luxury car, I think you might be best off with BMW. But...there are other tradeoffs. No vehicle is perfect and a buyer/lessee needs to determine which are important to her and which are not and make a decision based on that type of analysis.
German cars are notorius for electrical and mechanical issues....my first Non-Japanese was a VW Golf- electrical problems all the time.

We are all $70,000-$120,000 beta testers. It would be cheaper for Lucid to buy a Tesla and copy the code and then send it all to us. They have a great software package with no complaints from me. Tesla=Apple and Lucid=Android. Certain aspects are nicer in Lucid but Tesla just works smartly all the time and just makes sense. I will not consider the Gravity with all software issues.
Sorry, compare the quality - Lucid more synonymous with Apple- the design philosophy, customer service, best tech....Tesla is an OK car with stable software...not the most user friendly. Usability is bad with present Tesla- no stalks....get the picture now?

Thanks for resurrecting a 2 month old bitch fest of a thread @Steveinarizona. Great timing as always

...and can we bring back the one about the car whose previous owner had not installed an OTA update since Moby Dick was a sardine? That should be good for another 50 tabs.

Moderators are not paid. We are volunteers. You only have yourself to blame if you bought a car that you don't like. Your posts are only making you look bad, not the car.

I had a Tesla. Meh. I replaced it with my Lucid and never looked back.

Many, many folks here on the forum have a similar story. But you do you.

And no. None of us gets paid.

From watching recent interview with Peter, it was extremely difficult for them to source quality part in the beginning. Quality parts manufacturer often only take orders from big and established companies with larger orders which Lucid weren't.

Take computer parts for example, in the beginning Lucid got some deal with a Taiwanese computer company which I had never heard of who is actually in trouble themselves, some company would send you a good first batch and dubious out of spec parts later on. Even small things like soft close door, if a batch of solenoid is not within tolerance it wouldn't work well with existing software and will be difficult to debug.

While it's not fair having these issues when one paid so much for a new car, after reading OG patiently composed posts, I actually have even more faith with my order and investment in Lucid, I have seen no issue from Lucid core tech and the fundamental design of the vehicle itself. I appear to me Lucid has strong faith in their quality and engineering of the vehicle hence went into the trouble of pinpointing the exactly cause of issue.

Has not been my experience. Have owned 5 Porsche's and 3 BMW's. All great cars, very few problems and very reliable.

I am coming up on 12 Months with my car. Almost 10K miles in the Philly area. 2023 AT.

Looking back, this has been THE worst purchase of my life. I was holding out hope after my terrible sales experience that things would get better. But the truth is there hasn't been one month, or even two weeks, where the car worked as advertised or expected.

First with the ordering and delivery experience: terrible communication about dropping off my car at my house vs me driving hours to NY to pick up. They changed delivery dates and times with no warning. And reaching out to them was incredibly difficult. The car was eventually delivered hours after the expected time in a cold and dark parking lot where I could not properly inspect the vehicle. But whatever. I was excited to finally have this car.

Ever since then, there has been an issue every single month.

In the first month, the suspension has a bolt that wasn't tightened to spec, causing a rattling noise whenever it went over the slightest bump. That was eventually fixed.

There was also a rattling sound in the back seat with every bump. Multiple service appts later I was told they didn't hear anything or they replaced something that didnt fix the issue. Now, 11 months later, it is being serviced with a bad parcel shelf and an issue with the rear shade apparatus. The foam suggestion never worked for me.

Then one of the car door handles wouldn't release with the remote, and there is another service appointment.

Then there was the flat tire (not Lucids fault, just bad luck).

Then, my key fob stopped working after a month. I wonder to myself...it CAN'T be the battery...it's a brand new car.

As we all know, it is the battery. I now have more button batteries than I ever cared to own in my life, stashed in my garage,y glove box, my kitchen, and my work locker. And now I need to have a Faraday box or pouch for the remote to my 100K car not to die every 2 weeks.

Scheduled charging NEVER worked consistently. Bob and others have explicit instructions on how to remedy it but it STILL won't charge reliably.

About twice a week I have open and close the driver door multiple times to get the soft close to work and register as the door being closed.

My Lucid Home Charger, professionally installed through QMerit, never worked through my Internet connection and can't reliably get to interface, despite me buying a new mesh point specifically for my charger.

The app is terrible, And only slightly improved in terms of connectivity with the recent update.

Loaner #1 during service had non-functional cameras for parking or reversing. The drunk hydraulics wouldn't open so that became manual.

Loaner #2, just dropped off yesterday, had parking system and rear brake faults on my first drive to work. The pilot panel was stuck in the recessed position and resetting the car did nothing. The screen ended up resetting itself during my ride to work and I thought I was clear. Then after work the pilot panel and the screen above it were completely black and non responsive despite car resets. And then on the ride home, the car reset the screen itself, and then slowly dimmed to black and unresponsive again. It did that THREE times on its own during a 20 minute commute. Now it won't turn on at all and I can't open the glove box that has important documents and emergency cash in it.

These are all mostly minor things, but this is death by 1000 papercuts.

When the car works, it is fantastic. It is pretty. It is smooth. It is fast and responsive. It is fun to drive.

But my car never works.

And now I have to wait 6-8 weeks for a mobile appointment or service center appointment.

I am truly, truly envious and jealous of those who have working vehicles and haven't had to experience this nightmare.

After this last experience with this loaner, I am out.

I already paid down half of the car and will pay off the rest in the next 6 months and dump it in favor of some other EV. I own thousands of stock that I will also partly dump, as I am almost positive that Gravity, while pretty and exciting, will have its own host of problems. That 6-8 week service time will undoubtedly double when it is eventually released. I'll hold on to some stock in the rare chance Lucid turns this around.

I was so excited about this car, and I am incredibly disappointed.

I'm done.
My experience is 180 degree different. 2023 Air Pure with AWD, 5600 miles, 9 months ownership without one single problem.

i have the exact opposite experience from tesla to lucid. maybe sell the lucid and go get a tesla, you will probably have a great experience.
Not really sure about that...my experience with Tesla was not great. My M3P was fine -- generally did what it was supposed to do, but there were constant software glitches and the customer service from the Tesla is the worst of any car company or major corporation I have ever experienced. On the other hand, I just wrote a thread here about how my Lucid experience thus far has been the single best car purchasing experience of my life (and that includes a lot of really great cars and great car companies).

The reality is that sometimes even the best companies make mistakes and deliver a bad car. I am surprised that the OP has not reached out to Lucid Corporate -- given the customer service ethos that I have experienced, I would be shocked if they did not try to help in this case.

To the OP -- I am really sorry that you have gone through this and wish you all the best.

I saw MKBHD's video...definitely not an Ocean 😅

I do think this forum is useful. I know there are Lucid employees stalking these threads, as they have contacted me directly on issues like the home charger. So I don't think I'm necessarily screaming into the void. And I do think it useful for others to learn about different experiences. For example, reading responses here and on Reddit has taught me that most people have had decent experiences. I haven't heard explicitly from Philly/King of Prussia owners, but this may inform some people.
About my experience thus far (including KOP)...

Hmm - have had countless BMW’s/Mercedes and still have an X5d and never an electrical and mechanical issue. Guess have good luck! 🙂

Not anymore, you’re living in the past. Not a single issue with our 22 BMW i4 and our new BMW i5. Never had a problem with our Audi Sportback EV either. Our experience mirrors Wildride’s post a few posts up.

I love my Lucid, but I feel no compunction to knock every other car that’s not a Lucid.

Perhaps, this was from year 2002….but it put me off German cars and I stayed with Japanese

Comparing a Model S to a Lucid Air...

I had a Tesla Model 3P for 6 years and it was a great car (and reasonably priced today, NOT when I bought it) and so, I thought, “let me test drive the S.” A good friend has a much older Model S P100D and the acceleration in his car is awe inspiring and I spent many enjoyable hours in it with him, but never drove it. Last year when Tesla did the major price drop on the S Plaid, I test drove one that another friend of mine had paid over $130k for (more than my Air GT) less than a year earlier. The price was down to around $80k. I was certain I was going to buy one…after all, I thought, that’s a heckuva lot of car at $80k. Wrong I was. I found it utterly sterile and joyless and other than the acceleration, the ride was mediocre with too much body lean and lifeless steering.

The 2025 “entry level” Air Pure does everything better than the S Plaid EXCEPT acceleration. It handles better, it has better fit and finish, it’s far, far, far more luxurious, it’s built on best in class engineering (rather than a decade+ old refresh), it’s UI is light years classier and well organized AND the customer service I have experienced from Lucid has been much better than Tesla. With Lucid I deal with caring, knowledgeable people over the phone. With Tesla I deal with a text thread through the App.

The current version of the Model S Plaid was hideously overpriced at $130k and it’s arguably still overpriced at $80k while the Lucid Air Pure at $70k is a far better built, more luxurious and enjoyable driver’s car.

I’ve actually driven both, dealt with both companies and I do not imagine ever buying another Tesla unless Lucid takes a wrong turn and Tesla gets back to trying to build great cars instead of trying to just sell lots and lots of cars.

... then Tesla is your ride. Just don't use the FSD while napping.
I'm here because I'm considering an AT or AGT when I replace my '19 Tesla M3. That being said, I use FSD almost every time I drive, and it's pretty damned solid. And if you close your eyes, FSD will shut off, so no, you can't nap even if you try. Maybe Lucid will approach Tesla in software someday.
