Would you sell your DE for what you paid

That’s exactly what I did. I don’t mind the Homelink thing because what’s a couple button presses, but I have a MyQ garage opener and I hooked it up to Alexa through an IFTTY routine, so now as I drive away I just ask the car’s Alexa to “close the garage” and I can do it at *any* distance away. :)
Just to add on to that - I can open my garage door using Alexa but that does not mean you need to go and buy a "smart" garage door opener. The one I have is probably from 2005~2010 (approx. because I bought my house in 2014). You can make it smart by using this -->https://www.amazon.com/GoControl-GD00Z-8-GC-Z-Wave-Security-Black/dp/B085LKPHK6/

There are two home automation protocols that are widely used - Z-wave and Zigbee and there are numerous devices that use these protocols like switches, door-locks, garage-door openers, motion sensors, etc. All of them need a hub to control them. There are many hubs that you can buy and I have direct experience with two of those that support Z-wave and I use on a daily basis:

1. Logitech Harmony: This controls all the entertainment devices along with numerous lights, motion sensors around the house and also comes with a universal remote. Unfortunately, Logitech has exited this business and no longer sells this which is really sad. This can be linked by enabling Alexa's "Harmony" skill.

2. ADT hub: The one I have was probably installed in ~2010 and is a rebranded Netgear router with Z-wave radio for home automation. I linked all the smart door-locks and the garage door along with a couple of outdoor lights to this hub. This hub is linked to Alexa by enabling the "ADT" skill. I can say "Alexa, open outside garage door using code one-two-three-four". No 4-digit code needed for closing. The 4-digit code is a security thing that I'm not sure who is enforcing - Alexa or ADT.

I think you may have misunderstood me (though this is all fine and true too). I use MyQ which is a Chamberlain-built device that works really reliably and is insanely cheap: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08GD3D9YJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KDJEP2F1DF5CJKRYKHXW?psc=1

It also has a great Home Assistant integration, and works with Amazon Key (why I use it, so Amazon can deliver packages into my garage).

Then I just use IFTTT as a bridge between MyQ and Alexa, along with an Alexa routine to avoid having to say “trigger”.

Importantly, you can only close your garage with Alexa and MyQ; opening it via Alexa, I would argue (as would Chamberlain) is a security risk, since you can yell through a window, etc.

Can you share the IFTTT actions… I haven’t used Alexa before the lucid - but I do have MyQ and I use IFTTT

I like the idea of just using the car to close the garage… and if not IFTTT, then Siri Shortcuts would be great

Not at all... just wanted to let people know there are many many options to make Alexa work. :)

Oh, absolutely! I was just clarifying I didn’t buy a new opener; mine is like a decade old and came with the house when I bought it haha.

Couldn’t be simpler. Also the Alexa routine to avoid saying “trigger”.

If you use the key like every “other” car, it is 0.0 seconds, every time. It’s only delayed if you use the app or phone key
That’s not true. I have only ever used my key and have all the delay and lock/unlock issues.

While I would love to know how to do this, I am extremely technically challenged. I do not know what IFTTT is and I have never had to use Alexa. What the heck is an "Applet"? That being said, I did set Alexa up on my phone and I do have new MyQ enabled garage doors and the App on my phone. MyQ is great because I can control the garage doors in Charlotte or at my lake house.

Can anyone talk a technically-challenged person through this? The fact that this is necessary is another issue altogether. I thought my alternative was going to just be to hang one of the openers that came with the garage door on the visor so that everyone who saw the car would think, "why does he still have one of those?"

As to the review of the EQS, I did not need to see that: as it is I stopped at butt-ugly. That is not the MB that Peter Rawlinson has held out as his competition, it was the S Class.

I had not thought of setting up IFTTT for the garage doors until this thread. I had used IFFTT before and have a MyQ opener.. Now I have the routine while I wait for this Car!

setting it up is simple. You will need to download the IFTTT app (short for If this, then that) and make an account. setting up a routine is pretty straight forward. Click on create a routine (Called an Applet or I guess a short App). On the “If this“, put If I cay Alexa, close the garage door, on the ”then this” MyQ will close the garage door. You will have to link both the Alexa and the MyQ apps through IFTTT with your username and password. Pretty simple to do.

I am a dinosaur and have 6 cars with garage door remote “clickers”, one in each car, and will remain doing so until they pry the clicker out of my dead hand! 😊

OK, that is set up on my phone, wasn't too hard, but I have not tested it yet.

I feel stupid.... Didn't realize I had to push it hard to move it all the way in to lock it.
Yeah well, it’s not like CS people told me about anything other than how to change the mood colors and how to turn on the seat massager. Really.

I stand corrected. FWIW, this morning the Lucid service technician was at my home changing my tire (bulge), and I used the opportunity to show him the slow waking from sleep - even though I have 1.2.1. He said he was going to put in a service note - and said that the Lucid techs always use the actual key because it’s the most reliable way to lock/unlock.

It's worth noting that they know the lock/unlock is a big issue as it's been addressed in 2? Updates already.
Have had one unlock "not as expected" with 1.2 first day. Small sample.
Boot time ~37 seconds (better). No updates or improvement to anything on the right cockpit panel.
Has locked immediately with a handle press 100% of the time so far.

I agree. I deleted my phone after the first week so as not to confuse the car and only use the key fob. video above is with key fob.

I was thinking about this post as I was driving around running errands today in my 2019 Honda Odyssey. What technology do these cars use where the fob is in your pocket and the car only unlocks when you touch the handle? Is it some sort of capacitive thing and why is it not possible to transfer that over to the Lucid door handles instead of pushing in?

Secondly, from unlock to starting the car to get going took me about 10 seconds. In the Odyssey all I get is a backup camera so in this respect, the Lucid and Odyssey are the same for me personally in terms of time to get reversing out of my garage.

Last thing I paid attention to was how annoying it was to have to push a button to lock the Odyssey compared to the proximity lock of the Lucid.

Just random thoughts in relation to the function of the Lucid compared to traditional non-EVs.

With 1.2.1, the proximity sensors seem to be doing better at unlocking the car. Do other radio frequencies mess with that? I never seem to have an issue out and about but only around my home where I'm sure there's all sorts of interference.

1.2.1 I have had 100% success with a handle press either locking or unlocking.

Proximity unlock is still inconsistent.

This does not fix my wife’s concerns, but it pretty much “works” for me.

If it doesn’t unlock on approach Pressing the handle doesn’t bother me, locking, now I can lock when I want or let the car do it. It has never not locked, concern was timing.

Wife wants to be able to turn off proximity unlock and option for driver door only on unlock.
