There is a way! I also use MyQ and set it up in my iPhone home automation that can be triggered by siri. I named my garage "sesame" in apple home. All I have to say is 'hey siri, open sesame' and it works great, obviously close sesame works as well.... no need to go through the car set ups to try and make this work because your phone is in the car anyways. Siri is voice encrypted so the open function is much more secure and works.

Is there an Android phone version for this function?

I think an off button should be a priority as it should be easy, doesn't have to be used, and would increase the comfort level for many old fart ICE converts like myself.

Not having an on / off button was weird during my test drive. Just felt like I was missing a step in the process of driving.

I feel stupid.... Didn't realize I had to push it hard to move it all the way in to lock it.

I didn’t know that either. Also, the individual lights above each seat turn on with just a touch of them. There’s no button. My kids figured that one out. Even the seay map lights do this.

Yes, IFTT is Android capable as well.

I was thinking about this post as I was driving around running errands today in my 2019 Honda Odyssey. What technology do these cars use where the fob is in your pocket and the car only unlocks when you touch the handle? Is it some sort of capacitive thing and why is it not possible to transfer that over to the Lucid door handles instead of pushing in?

Secondly, from unlock to starting the car to get going took me about 10 seconds. In the Odyssey all I get is a backup camera so in this respect, the Lucid and Odyssey are the same for me personally in terms of time to get reversing out of my garage.

Last thing I paid attention to was how annoying it was to have to push a button to lock the Odyssey compared to the proximity lock of the Lucid.

Just random thoughts in relation to the function of the Lucid compared to traditional non-EVs.

With 1.2.1, the proximity sensors seem to be doing better at unlocking the car. Do other radio frequencies mess with that? I never seem to have an issue out and about but only around my home where I'm sure there's all sorts of

Using the DE as a daily driver over the last 3 months, in a week I have 60 lock unlock interactions / 30 park distance / 14 homelink / 30 Entertainment system interactions, plus some Nav and Phone interactions.

About 100 of those interactions on a weekly basis are awful.

I love driving the car, I don't need the 100 aggravations a week.

If I could sell this car for what I paid for it I would sell it today.

I have very little confidence that my concerns will be addressed any time soon.

This post doesn't help me sell the car for more.

That is not my objective. I think it is the most honest assessment of the car. I would gladly sell this car for what I paid, and would consider some discount.

I don't know where that line is for me exactly, but if you don't want to wait to have an Air, make me an offer.

As far as the drive train and the 900V architecture, best EV by far.

For me not getting unlock/lock right is unforgivable.

I love driving the car, I'm not going to give it away, but if I could get a reasonable % of what I paid, I would let it go.

For me my time in my car is some of my favorite time of the day, the Air ruins that time with it's deficiencies.

It is probably the best EV, that is not good enough for me, I want the best Luxury sedan. The Air is not that.

I have been watching this thread very closely. This week, I came within a hair’s breath of selling my Dream Air, which has about 500 miles on it. They were going to pick it up today. I’ve looked around on line at the Mercedes EQS, the Audi RS e-tron, the BMW i4, and the Tesla Plaid ( I’ve own two S models). I also read what many of you have had to say about these various cars, as well of course, the Lucid. I’ve had a lot of problems with my Dream, more than most of you. But, I began to worry that all of those other EVs, with exception of the Tesla, were probably going to give me some problems too. I’ve stated here before and I’ll state it again, I’m so not a gearhead, techie or otherwise. Some might say I can barely tie my shoelaces. I don’t see myself using ACC or ever, ever driving over 80. I just want the radio to work so that I can listen to NPR and my garage door to open and close, two things that are solidly glitchy in my car (not even going to mention about the key fob). I’ve not had good CS as they actually don’t know how things work on the car. I come here for information and am grateful for this forum.

Anyway, trying to picture myself in the other cars, surprisingly, left me cold. The Lucid is so aesthetically beautiful that for me it just kills my interest in the other ones. It’s the perfect sized sedan for me. The drive is a Dream. Lucid is going to overcome the glitches although it will take time. I could have gotten exactly what I paid for the car. This was a very close call and I’m relieved I decided not to sell.

Someone in a Brand new 550i wanted a go with the Air. I felt bad for him. Speed limits need not be broken, it only took 2 seconds to make a point. The Air continues to make a case for why it is worth every penny.

To my own aggravation, I try to use the car without work arounds, and communicate what I feel are necessary improvements to Lucid.

To be successful there are going to be many first time EV owners.

I’m a first time EV owner. I am absolutely in love with this car. I have not experienced the unlock/lock problems that others have reported here. When I walk up to the car it wakes up immediately when I press the fob twice for unlock. Bill 55, when was your car delivered?

Do you think that some of your issues your car went in for are now being fixed on DEs delivered later? I have had few issues with mine. A seal wasn’t glued on well and they have ordered a new one already.

Thank you! I will pm you when I need to go in. Right now, I think everything that’s not fixed is governed by software and I guess we’re all waiting for new code to be written.

I must say, that's quite the endorsement. While you don't post often, I remember your many troubles with the car. Between this post and some of @Bill55 's posts recently, I do think that's quite the validation of how much they got the car aspect of it right. I think Bill said it was like a narcotic. Hopefully, some of these lingering software pain points will be resolved with releases over the next month or two. But great post!

I got my car on 11/14. The seal thing seems to be pretty common especially in the trunk area. The frunk latches might be something they check for as well as it popped up on some earlier dream deliveries but I haven't heard about it since.

Because every other car maker in the world has lock/unlock that works flawlessly. We are not talking about level 3 self driving or anything sophisticated. We are talking about unlocking the car, closing the garage door, and changing sources on the entertainment system.

That's the thing with bugs and customers. If it affects that 1 customer then it must be a problem for the vast majority. That's classic end user reaction. Not saying that as a criticism but that end users rarely think of software on that grand of scale. It's akin to Mac users who can't understand Windows bugs because windows cater to many many more combinations of hardware and software and there is a limit on resources even for trillion dollar companies. As many have already indicated they don't seem to be having issues or it's not nearly as bad as it sounds for them which means on the average it's not prolific. Now of course for you personally it might manifest on more serious side effects and that's unfortunate. I've had software deployed perfectly for 100 users but could not figure out why user 101 had no connectivity. It happens. And you would know if these issues are truly bad because these types of issues are broadcasted and lawsuits filed for a publicly traded company in a heartbeat. Lucid haven't been asked to address it either by financial analysts or public tweets. So the scale of the problem as I see it is likely minor.

- Sensors. Day 2 the car stopped in the middle of the street because the sensors were set so high it thought the stopped traffic in the oncoming lane to my left, were too close to my car. The car stopped me in front of the lanes and wd not let me move it. This is despite my telling CS the sensors were too high. It happened 2 times and they took the car in to service. OK now.
- The car dropped my profile - just erased it after a few weeks. Unable to reprogram, etc. Dropped the ability to connect phone by Bluetooth. OK now.
- Door handles pop in and out rapidly and repeatedly. Doors wd not unlock at all unless pushing the fob button. Must have the fob in hand at all times to unlock. Better but still glitchy, so still can’t carry fob in pocket and expect unlock.
- Key fobs are faulty despite being replaced twice.
- The GPS doesn’t have cardinal directions for freeways.
- The radio wasn’t working - now works but still glitchy.
- There were several other temporary problems like the seat completely laying back while I’m driving. Fixed now and was related to an update glitch. Another update annoyance was it automatically turned on features that I had off or weren’t previously available, resulting in turning on a lane correction “feature” that isn’t working properly. Very, very annoying as the car wd jerk to the left or right but I wd be driving perfectly in the lane. The fix was to turn off that feature, which again, I was unaware of it turning itself on when I did an OTA update.
I’ve now learned that the OTA updates can produce glitches in features that were previously fine. For the most part, my experience is these type of problems are more quickly resolved. The annoying thing for me is that without a manual, I can’t try to puzzle out what is going on with any of the buttons on the steering wheel or otherwise. With the Dream drive features, none were operable when the car was delivered and therefore not discussed. I wasn’t informed about any features at all and had no idea why the car was suddenly rolling backwards (creep feature), or jerking to the left and right. CS tried to tell me I was driving distracted with regard to lane correction. The jerking happened over and over and over, maybe 25 times. Believe me, by the 4th or 5th jerk I was very conscious of how I was driving in the lane and there was no distracted driving happening. At all.
- I don’t have voice command with Alexa, at all. I have been told it doesn’t do anything right now other than give me the time and weather. I have read otherwise on this forum.

Not absolutely sure if this everything but it’s what comes to mind. I guess the thing that bothered me the most and almost sent me over the edge was all the time I’ve had to spend learning about the car on my own.

Learning about the car on your own is a blessing and a curse.

Alexa will not work unless you link an Alexa account to it. So if you haven't...https://alexa.amazon.com/ and get yourself signed up. With 1.2.1 there are A LOT of Alexa commands working now, including making calls.

The door handle popping is likely because the handles require a significant push to either open or lock. Also 1.2.1 made that much more reliable.

Wow, all those things you listed are bad. I guess I’m glad I’ve had to wait for my car, hoping that these were all just early glitches that have been mostly sorted out, but problems that big make me more than a little concerned that Lucid doesn’t know what they’re doing as far as software goes. In the first 8 months of ownership of my Mercedes A class I had to bring it in for service 4 times for the airbag light coming on, it ended up being a recall and they replaced the whole airbag ECU and that fixed it. I was looking into lemon law stuff to possibly return the car, and it never did anything as crazy as stop my car in the middle of the road or the lane keep assist fighting me all the time or radio not working or doors not opening.
