Release Version Megathread

Finally got my DE back from service center. Wow the pilot panel is so much better on 1.2.1. Good to see improvements.

Wow, it's been almost 3 weeks since the last OTA...🤨

Just had a great chat with lucid hardware and software engineers this morning. They have big things coming down the pipeline including drastic improvements to infotainment performance. Boot up time will drop to 10 seconds with some features instantly on. They are in the middle of a big architectural change so it’s taking a bit. Exciting stuff!

It sounded like it was soon. Like within a couple months or sooner. Other big features slated for later this year. They are focused on bugs and performance atm.

Thanks for the update. I’m rooting for them - these things take time, especially architecture changes.

The system is Android based but is currently being emulated. They are switching to a native Android implementation and updating it to the latest OS version.

Oh, they just thought of that?
Well everything is currently packaged as a single system. Easier to update and stuff. Now that they feel more confident with the hardware, systems will be separated. This will allow for better performance and faster updates because they can update specific systems.

Emulated? What does that mean in this context?

From my understanding, there is a main system and the ADAS, infotainment, etc all run inside that system. So Android is being emulated inside that system. Now it will run on its own natively.

Wait a second. How do I get on that email thread? Is there a Zoom meeting link (I promise I won't share).
Step 1) be on Twitter
Step 2) get famous
Step 3) have a Dream Edition
Step 4) ???
Step 5) profit

Lol nothing like that. They came out to check on my car after a repair and address a few other concerns I was having. Wasn’t expecting them to send the actual engineers this time.

I was talking to the technician this morning about the software and questioned who they actually took feedback from when designing the system because it’s got a lot of room for improvement compared to its competiton.

I feel the version we see today is going to be drastically different in 12 months.

100% agree. They had no customers for feedback when they started. Now the engineers say they are shifting to a feedback approach for improvements so they build what customers want instead of trying to guess or force their UX on people.

Hey, if you have contacts inside, could you please suggest this for "valet mode". I had posted this on another thread.
  1. An on-screen option that turns on valet mode (this mode will implement both geo-fencing and a speed limit of 20mph). This will rule out joy rides.
  2. The only way to get out of this valet mode is using the PIN.
  3. Simply hand over key fob to the valet after turning on "valet mode". No instructions for the valet needed, no waving of cards, no PINS, none of that crap.
