Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

Okay. So silver and red. Any one else get told EOY with a color other than red or silver?
I was told EOY on my white car but I asked him about where we are in the “color schedule” and he said he didn’t have any info on that. I still wonder if there weren’t a fair number of Tourings produced already and sitting in the full delivery lots at the factory? Otherwise I can’t imagine that they will be able to produce, inspect, and deliver the number of Tourings they are committing (but not promising) to deliver before the end of the next (holiday shortened) six weeks…..

There sure are a lot of them sitting outside, seemingly finished, at the factory in the recent Bear's Workshop videos. They all look like my Stellar White, but alas it's usually just the protective wrapping.

I'd be happy to drive down to Casa Grande to pick mine up and save them a transporter.

I agree, it seems unlikely they could produce any significant number of cars AND get them through PDI that quickly. So maybe a good number of those cars are already built and going through PDI now? But then why not hand out VINs on many of them? Only a few here have been told a VIN is coming soon so far. Given you need the VIN to apply for financing and set up insurance, you'd think they would not want to create an unnecessary bottleneck there.

How much would it suck to have a car ready before the 31st of December, but you can't pick it up because of a snag at the bank or insurance company? It's not like those employees are immune to the holiday vacation schedule, either.

The Lucid Owners Forum Meet-up in Case Grande Dec 26-Dec 31, 2022! LOLOLOL
Bring 'yer Torches and Pitchforks to demand delivery before the stroke of midnight December 31, 2022!!!

I would imagine it is a logistical nightmare trying to pair that many cars with the differing configurations to a specific owner and then trying to pair that with the logistics of delivery. That would certainly explain why the delays in getting Vins out. Of course if this theory holds, you would expect a LARGE numbers of VINS to get out through the DAs this week or next….?

Right. Maybe not with the holiday this week, but we'll see if a huge number of VINs get sent out early next week. If not, and they seem to trickle as usual, then I'd be likely to suspect Lucid will totally miss this optimistic goal of getting the bulk of their fully-loaded Tourings delivered before EOY. It's just hard to believe financing, insurance, car carriers, PDI, and the Service Centers / Studios will be able to coordinate that many deliveries in just a few short weeks in late December.

Unless it really was just a silver thing, and some DAs mistakenly started telling all their Touring customers to expect EOY.

Confirmed AT on 11/20/2022
QG, Tahoe, 19”, DDP, Surreal Pro
No stealth.

The week before the launch event I was told by upper management that the next batch was Quantum Grey.
Interesting. That checks out. Anecdotally, if we look at just our tracker, grey is the biggest batch. Or it's at least very close to red. We know silver was "Derek's choice" for the big release day party. To move to one of the more popular colors next would make sense.

All the more reason to be pessimistic about my white.

If i had the opportunity to switch from White to Grey and ensure 2022 delivery I would. As I have yet to hear from my DA once, even though I finalized on Oct 27 I am not hopeful for much

Another thought I just had that supports the theory that Touring cars were produced ahead of finalizations. If they built out, say, X number of silver fully loaded Tourings, and then not that many people finalized with that config, it would make even more sense to contact customers who were just missing DDPro to upsell them. Not because they had capacity to run more silver cars through production, but because they already had produced those cars.

Grey would be the one other color I would consider right now. Black or red are nice but would not appeal to me. Silver looks great, but probably not for me. Grey I actually considered switching to a few times.

I didn't like the Santa Cruz because on pictures the wood seemed to Brown, however in person its more of a Darker brown. The Tahoe, the Brown was just TO brown for my taste. I felt the the Santa Cruz was nicer and fit better with the quantum grey. But hey! this is just my opinion, if everyone liked the same thing there would be one car one color.
I felt like the Tahoe was too brown also and the Mojave was a bit dark for my taste which is why I switched from Mojave to Santa Cruz.

Have you gone to the studio to see in person?
