October OTA Feedback thread

I remember back in the day, driving my Audi, I'd always say it was because those Germans and their insistence on following the rules that the car is so persistent with the seatbelt warnings.

I generally like the sound design in the Lucid. I hope this isn't a trend towards less subtlety in general.

I absolutely hate when my car "yells" at me. It's as bad as having a passenger that overreacts whenever there's a tense situation.
It is exceedingly loud lol. I thought the old version was fine, but this one is like "YO MAN YOU FORGOT SOMETHING, YO SEATBELT DUMMY PUT IT ON BECAUSE THIS SOUND IS SUPER ANNOYING"

I mean… it sounds like it accomplishes the goal? :p

But yeah, I agree it’s pretty loud haha

After the last 2.0.12, I can now say with confidence that I am confused on why the seatbelt warning situation is now worse. In states like Florida, it's not required to wear a seatbelt in the backseat (regardless of what anyone recommends). With this, it has been extraordinarily annoying to have the alert go off when people in the backseat aren't yet buckled in.

The sound file change for that alert is now flat out obnoxious to the point where the old alert was somehow more pleasant (but still annoying) and the new alert is simply unpleasant. If the old alert was within regulation, I can't see how this provided any quality of life improvement on a luxury vehicle. I can say my Taycan and EQS are more appealing for someone hopping in and starting up a car with/without passengers now.

Also, the way the seatbelts tighten and practically choke you when speeding up has always been terrible. Was really hoping someone improved that... instead they made the sound worse.
As someone who works in the trauma field, I'm glad your car yells at people in the back seat to put their belts on.

Lower the sound level of the seat belt warning. Way too loud!! Was fine the way it was before. Don't fix what is not broken.

There are multiple ways to remind someone to do something. Like having an uncleared notification icon in an app. Subtle but will drive you nuts.

That only works if you are OCD...

I think there’s a middle ground between a red badge and an air raid siren.

And there probably is some sort of regulation requiring a noise of some sort. Regardless of the law in Florida, cars sold in America are tailored for California’s laws.

But the original sound was likely enough to satisfy that? I seriously wonder why the change was implemented? Or is it a bug of some sort?

All the sudden this new fasten seat belt warning sound reminds me of Volvo/Polestar. Maybe Lucid wants us to be safe. This also reminds me the other day my daughter in the backseat made the loud comment of warning sound. “I have to put on seat belt? This is Texas, not California, can you tell the car to be quiet?”

I never understood why other states font have passenger seatbelt laws or why you wouldn't put a seatbelt on regardless...explain please?

Texas doesn’t mandate rear seats putting on seatbelt. But Lucid has trained my family to obey California law. 🤣

The same reason some states don’t have helmet laws for bikes and motorcycles. Some folks believe if they crash the rest of us should have to pay for their head trauma.

(I’m looking at you, Colorado.)

One of the many quirks of living in our weird little experiment. It’s kinda nice we don’t all have to agree on everything, but sometimes I do wish we’d come together a bit more on the stuff that would be a clear win for everyone.

Yea okay so because they don't mandate it you don't put a seatbelt on her?

It’s just a habit. Actually now Texas requires all passengers to buckle up or face $200 fine. It started 2021, just haven’t caught on. Prior law was passed in 1985, Texas only mandated front passenger and driver to buckle up. (I just Googled this)

I think beeping to remind is a good design for safety concern. My son and I felt more safe inside Polestar than Model-3. Certainly that drove the purchase more than the infotainment capability.

My daughter is college teenager. We never owned a car that will beep if rear passengers didn’t put on seatbelt, so that was her natural reaction.

So now I know why the surround camera isn't working on my car since updating to 2.0. One of the cameras is defective. The 2.0 software is less tolerant of error codes from the camera than the old software was. They will be replacing the camera in a few days when the replacement shows up.

Not sure if this is a new bug or if it existed prior to 2.0.
Today (while at Discount Tire replacing our Pirelli bubble tire), my wife pulled the car out and drove it around to the front. Note: the only profiles set are mine, "Exit" (workaround for easy entry/exit), and Guest.

Since I dropped off the car, my profile was selected. However, she moved the seat prior to exiting. I then entered the vehicle and tried to "set my profile" .. I clicked my profile name (which was selected) hoping it would reset the saved settings, but it did not. I then decided to select one of the other profiles (can't remember which) and clicked it. While it was changing profiles (seemed like forever but was probably 14 seconds or so) a line of cars started to pile up behind me. When it was done, I clicked my profile and the right cockpit and pilot panels went blank. I couldn't move the car while it was rebooting and the reboot took a little over a minute. Not a showstopper, but at that moment, I wasn't sure what happened and if the panels would come back (and I'd be able to move the car).

When I got home, I tried to replicate the issue and I was able to replicate it (by having me and my wife repeat the prior steps). After being able to do it a couple of times, I couldn't come up w/ an easier way to duplicate the issue (i.e. eliminating steps). I did time the events and I have to admit that switching profiles is a bit slow, but rather consistent and varies in time from 10-14 seconds while the "reboot" was consistently in the 1min range.

So, question, did I inadvertently reboot the panels? If so, how? Is this a bug?.. should I report this?

Also, is selecting driver profiles dependent on face recognition? (thought that perhaps my wife using my profile and linked keyfob may have confused things).

Lastly, how does one "reset" the driver profiles (e.g. you move a seat or mirror temporarily and want to go back to the saved settings .. without getting out of the car)?

I actually think that's fantastic; better to know about it and get it fixed than have it be intermittent!

Known bug, unfortunately; I believe they know about it and are working on fixing profile switching before general release.

Right now, profile switching kills those screens, which is obviously not intentional.

Also, is selecting driver profiles dependent on face recognition? (thought that perhaps my wife using my profile and linked keyfob may have confused things).
No; it will use the fob/key detection first. If that fails, it will attempt facial recognition. You can always change the profiles yourself though (present bug excluded)

Lastly, how does one "reset" the driver profiles (e.g. you move a seat or mirror temporarily and want to go back to the saved settings .. without getting out of the car)?
Simply go into the seat settings and hit 'Restore settings'. Same goes for mirrors and steering wheel. Any adjustments that have been made will revert to the current profile.

Good to know; thanks

New glitch: key fobs stop being recognized while driving.

I have started to have issues with the car not recognizing my key fob. It opens the door just fine when I get in the car and drive. However, when I stop, put the car into park to let someone in or out of the car, I get a “key fob not recognized” error and I have to enter my PIN before I am allowed to put it back in gear. This has happened 4 times tonight with a power cycle occurring between the first and second times it occurred.
