October OTA Feedback thread

Thanks for the that info, my car just updated this evening to 1.2.21.

I'm going to drive the car another day or two before deciding if I want to beta test as I'm still getting use to the car itself, I took delivery on 09-22 and then was out of town from 10-01 thru 10-19.

You don’t want to beta test. And the beta test group is closed off to new members anyway. Let everybody else trip over all the bugs that will inevitably drive them crazy. You can stand to wait for the more polished finished product.

I speak as a three-time Tesla owner, really jaded by now with software updates. They’re old hat, and not always necessarily a better thing.

The voice of experience, why would I not listen 🙏

Much thanks to those that are beta testing 👍

This is rather surprising. I had 1.2.21 a few weeks ago. I am surprised that it takes this long for Lucid to push it to different people.

My question is: should one assume that any given release includes the functions/fixes of all previous releases?
yes, it would include fixes from previous versions.

yes, it would include fixes from previous versions.
If this is the case, then not having received and installed an earlier update would not be important?

I recall a very early discussion underscoring the need to install each OTA update in the order released for subsequent releases to be fully applied.

Would very much like a definitive answer from one of the Lucid staff members in this forum, please.

I posted this question in another thread, but have not seen a response from a Lucid staffer. I went from 1.x.21 straight to 2.0.13, so I am very confused.

I am not a member of the Lucid stagf but I own a software development company so I have some insight into your question.

On Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android, when a user requests to update to a version that would indeed “skip” one or more intermediate versions from what that user currently has, those are downloaded and installed as part of the process, without necessarily informing the user of these incremental updates. So, identifying a skip in version number as you saw is not of concern.

There's been numerous posts regarding how Lucid numbers their updates. Given how Lucid numbers their releases, 2.0.2 is a larger number than 2.0.13. We don't need to understand their system or what each release number represents. From other posts, apparently 2.0.13 is the next release after what you were on so you are good.

There is no guarantee that any single update will include updates made in the previous OTA updates. If this were the case, each update would have to include the entire executable library which essentially would be a re-install of all the code. We know this isn't the case. Some updates take 5 minutes, 20 minutes, over an hour. One poster related that a Lucid tech told him that if you miss an update, no new updates would be sent to you until you installed what should have been the next update to what you have installed. When you fall multiple updates behind and Lucid tells you it needs to go to a service center, they install each update until you are at the current release (that's been reported by a few members). If each update included past updates, they would simply install the current update.

Thank you. Understood!

Thanks to this forum for all the user experiences. My car has been at the detailer since Oct. 14 so it's likely that explains why the screens went out. I went to visit the car yesterday and found they had dug into the Wonderbox and disconnected something. They did not tell me they were going to do this. It's one of those "little bit of knowledge and huge balls" situations. I'm now thinking the car was doing a software update and that's why the screens blanked. So i'm concerned the downloads were interrupted / corrupted because the car was in their shop and they did not know Lucids do this. I'm going to pick it up later today...fingers crossed that they didn't make things terrible. Can't wait to get Luci home and snugged and let her update in peace. I'm hoping this is software and not bad connections/ lose wires as was noted in the big recall.

My takeaway is: I assumed nobody would go tearing into my car's circuitry ... especially a car wash employee. Now I know that every time you hand your Lucid over you have to make them swear an oath that they will not f with it, and that the car will turn itself on and make wierd noises and flash it's lights and door handles at you. Just ignore it. Had the car a month and haven't driven it...can you imagine what I felt when I saw the Wonderbox open ?

Huh? They disconnected the wunderbox? That makes no sense as to why a detailer was even be poking around that area. Let alone, knew how to get to it.

Agreed. Doesn't make sense at all.

That is not a good spot for a customer to be in, initially I would drop some F -bombs and then some millenial would tell me they don't appreciate that kind of langauge not knowing that was much better than what kind of money my lawyer was going to cost the detail shop 😂

That would be Gen-Z

That would be Gen-ZMillenials, Gen Z they all had

Millenials, Gen Z they all had most had helicopter parents, cell phones, and participant awards.

Imagine the horror if you played a song like this at dance today 😂

Man I’m 31 so in the heart of it. I can’t speak for today, but we were playing some nasty stuff at our dances 😂, and thankfully no helicopter parents on my end.

My boys are 39, 37, and 35, the participant awards started with the the oldest boy's second or third punt, pass, and kick competition, he found the closest trash can on the way back to the car and deposited the P award as he didn't need or want that ribbon, what also put a smile on my face is that he didn't litter like some disrespectful brat.

Oh the rap music also started with our oldest, some of it I still like, and there is a lot I don't LOL

Just to share, these are the two messages I sent to the Lucid OTA and CS teams ….

Let me start by saying the Air is an awesome road trip car!!

We drove to SoCal this morning from Phoenix and I am sharing some feedback about about Highway Assist and few other observations.

Before we left our home I set our destination for the EA station in Quartzsite, AZ so I could get a sense of miles remaining at the destination. Love that feature!

As I got going on the highway, I engaged Highway Assist. Initially it felt a bit wonky but that was probably me getting used to how it operates. In most scenarios it preformed pretty well although a couple of times it felt ping pongish trying to find the center of the lane particularly on some curves. I also observed during a lane drop or near a 2 lane exit where the line marking were not present it definitely started to pull to the far right thinking it needed to center itself. Obviously I immediately intervened. Once the right line marking appeared it returned to normal. On one particular stretch of highway (CA 60 from the I 10 to CA 91near Mereno Valley, CA) the road is very twisty through the hills. It’s 2 or 3 lanes. I had to disengage HA as the car seemed have trouble trying to staying in the lane. Another thing I noticed was it seemed to have trouble seeing the lines on stretches of road (CA again) that had two different road surfaces of asphalt and concrete . I think it was seeing the seam of the surfaces as the line? Not sure here.

The other issues I observed was the Hands on the Wheel warning was very inconsistent. I tried several positions of my hands and when it did warn me I need to do a death grip to get it clear. Other times when I had my hands in the same or similar spots I didn’t get a warning for quite some time.

Hi LaShawna,
Thank you for your response and specific details about the HA system behaviors. Just to be clear, I do understand there are limitations of the HA feature. That said, I do want add some additional feedback. I noticed when signaling for a lane change I would have to give a significant tug on the steering wheel as it felt the system was trying to pull me back to center even though the CIC panel showed lane keeping as grey or deactivated momentarily. Certainly not a smooth feel to the operation. It did occur regardless of which direction I was changing lanes. For some reason, the right direction lane change seemed a bit smoother. Seems to me the lag time between the activating the directional signal and deactivating lane keeping could be the culprit.

I also noticed that there was a several second delay when I was adjusting the cruise speed using the steering wheel toggle for the updated speed to appear on the CIC.

That’s it for now. I’ll keep you updated as best I can after my trip back home.

It's torque based, so try rotating the wheel just a bit (quarter of an inch), it will resist your movement and you'll never see the wheel warning.

Or rest your hands "heavily" on the wheel. For me this is just my normal grip at 9-3 that keeps the warning away forever.

Thanks! All a learning curve!
