Grand Touring vs Touring Features

Looks like Lucid has updated their online configurator with the same pricing as in this thread.
I called Lucid about an hour ago. I told them that it would be really nice if Alcantara was option for the Touring model. The sales advisor said they would pass along the request but the options could change between now and when production of the model starts. I’ll really hope they add that as an option.

Some time ago my sales rep told me that, after the initial production runs, Lucid was going to introduce a small battery pack option for the Grand Touring. However, the lower current output of the smaller pack will mean power will be rolled back to Touring levels, as well as seeing the range loss. You would keep all the other features of the Grand Touring, though. She didn't give me a specific time frame, so it might warrant a call to your sales rep for an update on this option.

For what it's worth, the high floorboard in the rear seat was a big bugaboo for me, too. But I've been surprised by how adult passengers rave about how much room they have in the back seat and how comfortable it is. So I'm wondering if I made more a deal of it than was warranted, at least for my use case.
The footwell issue is not a big deal as the rear seat legroom is huge. I’ve had no complaints

Hi all, I am eyeballing a 2022 AGT but they advised it has DD Premium. I was under the impression all GTs have DD Pro. Is it possible they're correct? Thank you very much.

They are lying. No 2022 AGT's were equipped with DD Premium. Is the "advisor" from Lucid itself or an outside party?

I would assume he's just not informed, since it's being sold by a non-Lucid dealership, so I'm confirming it is indeed a GT. I don't want to make the few-hundred-mile trip to them if it's not a GT. I appreciate your confirmation.

Don't forget that it could still be a GT, there's just no way it's a 2022. I do believe it's possible for it to be a 2023/2024 model, though (although the 24's just came out). Good luck finding a car!

Well, a VIN decoder shows 2022 so I think they just have no clue about DD. I'm seriously considering a DE in Texas but also this GT with for almost $20k less. Thoughts? I greatly appreciate your help and insight.

BTW the range depends on your driving speed. At 80mph GT seems to get the same range as Touring at 70mph.

(and a Touring will get significantly less range than the GT at equal speeds, for clarification)

Ugh why didn't I think of that?!? 🤦‍♂️ He confirmed it's a GT but I asked for the sticker anyway.

General thought: Do you believe the 2022 DE would be worth $20k more than the 2022 GT apples-to-apples? Obviously it has more HP and range, but does it justify the price difference?

Honestly, no.

Actually, the DE has less range than the GT.

Whether to get a 2022 DE or a GT might depend on what mattersmost to you. When our DE was totaled in an accident over a year and half into ownership, I wanted another DE and found a used one at a Volvo dealer in New Hampshire instead of opting to purchase a new GT.

The primary reason is that I'm an acceleration junkie, and the extra oomph of the DE was the thing I did not want to forgo, even though a stint in a GT loaner showed me that the GT is very far from being a slouch. (We also have a Model S Plaid which is a source of ongoing comparison, so I did not want to open up too much a gap with that.) A secondary reason is that I had fallen in love with the interior palette of the DE which was not an option in a GT.

On the other hand, the DE's might have some issues that a GT produced a bit later might not. For instance, the trunk lids of the DE's often had noticeably uneven panel gaps and could even rub against the bumper. Lucid traced it back to an irregularity in heat forming the composite trunk lid that resulted in a bit of deformity. It was soon corrected, but I don't know whether it was later in the DE run or with or sometime after the transition to the GT.

The windshield tinting also changed sometime in the DE run. Our first DE, No. 154, had a small "window" in the lower passenger-side windshield that allowed radar signals to pass for things such as toll transmitters or radar detectors. Our second DE, No. 395, did not have such a "window", as the newer tinting allowed signals to pass. Any GT will have the newer windshield tinting.

There were a few other minor issues with the early DE's, such as weather stripping at the top of the trunk lid that repeatedly came loose. However, those issues have long since been resolved through service visits and production line changes.

Bottom line . . . you're going to be getting a great car either way.

Actually, the DE has less range than the GT.

There were two versions of the Dream Edition. The longest-range Air is the Dream Edition Range -- 520 miles vs. the 516 of the GT. However, I believe most Dreams were the Performance version with 471 miles of range (all ranges given with 19" wheels).

Monroney*, but yes, this is the right answer.

IMHO, yes. But you’ll get differing votes on this, and it’s a personal choice. To me, the acceleration difference between a DE-P and a GT is very noticeable. A GT-P would be a different story, of course.

The extra acceleration isn’t “useful” in and of itself in general; it’s not like an extra 300HP is “needed” in this thing. I just *like it.* I’ve gotten so used to the “look at a spot on the road and teleport there” feeling that it’s hard to go back to anything else.

So yeah, if you get the GT, avoid test driving a DE-P haha. Otherwise, you’ll have a fantastic time in either car. And tbh, you may not care about the acceleration. @hydbob doesn’t seem to. Different strokes. Just matters to me.

Lastly - if it’s a DE-R, get the GT. There is not enough difference, imho, between the DE-R and the GT to justify the $20k. The extra range isn’t worth it, to me. YMMV (literally, I guess, lol)

Thank you everyone. It's a DE-R #489. I still am ready to buy either. The DE is significantly further away geographically, whereas the GT is an easy 4-5 hour drive/easy train ride away (if I don't want to subject my wife and daughter to the schlep). I'll update with which one ends up happening. Thank you again!

My vote, not that I'd be correct or anything, would be for the GT. It was likely screwed together almost a year after the DE-R, and a lot was learned in that interval.
