I have decided to lease a Lucid Air Grand Touring (it is more fun to write that out rather than just use an acronym ;)). I can't take delivery of the car until early June, so I am trying to figure out how to time the placing of the order. I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into how long current orders might be taking.

I would be happy choosing from Lucid's "Available Cars" list, but one of the features I must have is DD Pro (I'm coming from a car with excellent lane centering and don't want to give that up). As someone in another thread pointed out, almost no AGTs are currently coming up with DD Pro, so I'm not comfortable waiting and hoping that a DDP-equipped car will show up closer to June. I also want the aluminum roof option, and I'm not seeing any of those either.

So the question is: When do I need to place my order? Thanks for any insight you may have--this forum is an outstanding resource!

Custom order lead times are very much unknown. When I did mine on the Lucid AT 2025 in August, they couldn't tell me when it would be ready with any accuracy. Eventually one of the reps told me that they don't necessarily make custom orders on demand. Your car eventually comes off the line with the specs you wanted, and they give it to you. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but my experience for communication during the custom order process left a lot to be desired.

This thread is similar to your ask - https://lucidowners.com/threads/cus...ring-conflicting-delivery-expectations.10341/

I would simply go in with eyes wide open if you go the custom order route. You will be given a timeline, most likely will not get it within that timeline, and communication will be sparse at best. If you're mentally ready for this, then the process won't feel bad. Eyes wide open is the main point here.

I just spoke to my sales rep. If I order today, we're looking at June/July for a custom order. So 2-3 months.

I placed my order today. We'll see how it goes.
Congrats on your order! Like everyone says in these forums, the drive is absolutely amazing and it'll be hard to go back to another vehicle.

2-3 months sounds about right. It could be sooner or could be later. But at the very least, you're ready for whichever way it goes.

Shameless plug - if you haven't used a referral code to get a discount on your purchase, consider using mine :)

I am wondering what happens if the trim you custom ordered pops up on the website? Can you grab that one and cancel your pre order and with what penalty??

You can always switch. There is no penalty. You would need to contact sales rep

You can indeed switch as @MacBain00 said. FWIW, this is exactly what I did, put in my order, found an exact match a week or so later stating "two weeks", emailed my SA and he switched the order. Had the car 3 weeks later. Good luck!

I suspect it varies based on location and what you order. I placed a custom order in January (Touring with SSPro and DDPro) and they quoted me 3-4 months. Delivered and drove it away the last day of February. Five to six weeks start to finish.

Communication throughout the process was less than ideal. When my sales advisor called me and told me it would be there within a week, I was shocked.

Did you track your order's progress on the Lucid Motors web site?

Yes. It was showing as being built in the factory in Arizona up until the day before it showed up in Boston.

The car had clearly been in transit for sometime before that. I was happy to get it earlier than expected - just very surprised.

Probably lends credence to the theory that if a car happened to roll off the line that perfectly matched your order specs it got assigned and delivered to the matching order holder as the priority.

How long from the time the web site said it was in production until it arrived?
