Never thought about getting Alexa to open and close my garage door, I’ve never had to.

Tesla reached a relatively high level of sophistication with their implementation of Homelink. The garage door closing after sensing you back out, and the garage door opening upon sensing your approach, were things our Teslas could do from the very beginning.

Grudgingly giving Tesla their due credit, this is one area of their software implementation that they got right.
Well since the Lucid does recognize when I'm pulling up to my garage it is probably possible that in the future they could make it automatic.
 
“Alexa, open/close the garage door” works every time. If you have an alarm system in your house that opens and closes doors there’s a pretty good chance it can be linked to Alexa

So is this only with an Alexa enabled garage door or is it a command that activates homelink to open the door? Sort of like when you tell Alexa to adjust the temperature in the car etc....

My garage door is controlled via the alarm system (ADT) and Alexa can link to the ADT app to do a bunch of stuff like opening the garage door

Yeah, second that. I have the same setup (did mention this much earlier in another thread). Btw, my ADT was linked to Alexa long before I had even heard of Lucid. I have still not bothered setting up Homelink given all the frustration with using it.
 
The opening is fine. Both our gate and garage homelinks pop up when in range.I’m ok with just bushing one thing on the touchscreen. It is the closing I have an issues with. I can’t get to the home link button withoug turning off the back up cameras, they pulling it up, closing the garage and then turning on the cameras agan. It is convoluted.
I feel the same. Perhaps home link can put at left cockpit with all the static buttons, so we don’t have to switch camera off. Maybe some programmer/designer is reading this.
 
I agree. This is one of the Tesla features I like the most. Automatically opens my community gate and my garage.
Actually many Tesla owners don’t even know about their geo-fencing feature.

I have about 90% success with homelink. It’s seems to struggle on very hot days but interestingly, when the car can’t open the garage nor can the garage opener so opted to just use ADT as it sends the command through the home WiFi

In my case it's over Z-Wave to the "smart" controller that is wired to a dumb garage door opener.

No disrespect, but everything can be hacked. It's just a question of how motivated someone is. Actually on a more serious note, the reason why I even bothered to make the garage door opener "smart" was to avoid the possibility of driving a good distance away from home and then wonder whether I closed the garage door. Being able to link ADT to Alexa was just a bonus that came for free.

On the security front, I cannot open the garage door using Alexa unless I provide a four digit pin ("Alexa, open garage door using code one-two-three-four"). No pin needed for closing.

You do need to set a code. The garage just won’t open unless you give the pin as well.

This would be great! The front and rear defroster button row is long enough to accommodate three smaller buttons, thus making room for a dedicated garage door button.
 
Tesla is software-first company while Lucid is not, so it’s understandable they’ve put their efforts on the non-software side first. With that said, the sw shouldn’t languish to a point where basic expected controls aren’t working, which seems they have a passing grade on?
 
Would rather have a hardware first company than a software first one ;)

Well, that does look like it could be the Lucid Headquarters building in Newark, CA outside the window...

That tree behind the shade looks like the red-leafed tree out in front of the building next to the entrance and the car is just behind the two sets of windows to the right of the entrance if you are facing the building.
 
I am in Charlotte, but GoogleMaps street view is pretty convincing.
