Anyone know of bidirectional charging status?

Never heard of it! Where do you purchase it? Is it from Lucid?

Please note it requires an updated charging cable; those delivered with the 2022-2024 Airs are not compatible, but a cable can be ordered here: https://store.lucidmotors.com/40a-mobile-charging-cable-kit/

Thanks. So if I am reading this right it will cost $775 for the 40 amp cable and the V2V adaptor? Any software required?

Thanks, Dom

Software is in your car already.

It’s always wise to buy a car based on the features it currently has, not what might be in the future.
Very much agree with that, but as an Air GT owner for over 2 years I'm extremely happy with the improvements and upgrades I've received in that time. When I first received the Lucid the software was noticeably problematic, most of which was fixed in the first big 2.0 rewrite IIRC. The last major annoyance they fixed for me was keeping HomeLink visible when the backup cam was on.

I'm now at the point where I'm like you - everything new is just gravy. I'd really love V2H and recordable cameras, but I'm not mad they're not available yet. In the meantime I've got the perfect car for me.

Bringing this back from the dead....

Saw this article today - https://www.theguardian.com/austral...elling-power-from-their-cars-back-to-the-grid

Sure would like to use that great big Lucid battery too!
Yep…… this hasn’t aged well at all.

Best-laid plans of mice and men.

Don't understand why this takes so long, technically it's nothing new.
Every cheap PV inverter is sending back energy from some solar panels to the grid, for decades around already.
Why is the automobile industry so slow with implementing 'old existing' technology.

Wow, me and @Denali_Dane just bought two of the RangeXchange dongles, and now I find out I have to buy two $650 cables? Wow, I wish their warning was a bit bigger.

*** RangeXchange Charging Adapter requires a V2V capable Lucid 40A Mobile Charging Cable. Cables supplied with Lucid Air MY 22-24 are not V2V capable; an updated 2nd generation cable is required.*** (Needs red text or something)

I know it's right there, but when it is so easy to press buy, it makes it easy to make the mistake we just did.

Maybe this is pointing out my own stupidity, tho..

Yep I missed it. I did not read the fine print.

Are those cables made from gold?

Last week I was in the parking lot at the Millenia Mall in Orlando Florida. I saw a Rivian parked next to a Tesla running a cable to exchange power. I do not know in which direction it would flow.

In the meantime, my fallback-plan Enphase PV + battery has been working pretty well.
We’ve got 40kWh in Enphase batteries tied to our solar array and between that and V2L from my wife’s Ioniq 5, we are in good shape for now…

That article was from February 2023. With no new announcements (to my knowledge) since…

I heard yesterday that Enphase's bidirectional solution is in beta test now, and is planned for release in 2026, 1-2 years late. I'm waiting for it too, and am wondering if it will work with Lucid vehicles. It is a conventional DC-plug approach rather than Lucid's previously mentioned AC-plug/Wunderbox method. Enphase's solution won't be inexpensive or small as it contains a box full of paralleled microinverters. No transfer switch would be needed if it's just pushing around excess PV power, but it definitely requires one if used for V2H in a power outage.

I have 25kWh in Enphase batteries and no room for more. I'd really welcome the ability to use my EVs as temporary storage for PV energy overflow.

I have a theory—maybe they don’t want people using EA’s free charging to power their homes. If they released V2H, it could encourage cost-conscious users to take advantage of it, leaving Lucid's EA division with a massive bill or inability to buy further network time. Lol. Thoughts @Denali_Dane ?
