my 2 year old, 4 year old, wife and I went on trip to Joshua tree. In way back home, about 120 miles remaining, heard loud bang like giant pothole

pulled over, tire popped.
2 hr later
Tow truck and uber family to hotel nearby.
Tow guy never seen a tire blow up like this his 30 years of towing. Need to find replacement tire and contact manufacturer if its defect. No way it’s a road hazard right? Side walls are supposed to be the strongest part of the tire.

Based off your pic, looks like you hit something due to the damage on your rim where the hole is.

It is a clean cut pop

It could be a weak side wall of the tire🛞

Never seen something like that myself

Fill us in with what happens with the warranty

Definitely hit something. It might have happened well before the tire popped.

I am glad that all of you came away from this ok, this really isn't a Lucid issue, it is a tire issue, you didn't note what tires were on the car or the size of the wheels. did you regularly monitor your tire pressures? like others have noted there must have been something external to the tire to cause such a failure.

Probably a combination of hitting something and perhaps a defect on that particular tire? I agree, it's a weird looking pop.

I'm very curious what Lucid or Pirelli would have to say.

why do you believe that Lucid would have anything to say regarding a tire failure?

Just curious. I'm not an expert on tire failure. Ultimately, it's Pirelli's responsibility if the tire did have a defect. But Lucid may help confirm that. I'd imagine they'd at least want the report, for the record. Maybe they've seen something similar before?
