I no longer have the app (free trial period expired). Would dBC give me a higher or lower dB reading than dB-A? Also, I did run the test on the GT Loaner they gave me that had 19" wheels with All Season tires and I got the same readings over the same stretch at 75 mph. So that makes three Lucids all in that 70-75 dB range on Hwy 85.

I have a glass roof. Switching from 21" summer to 19" A/S I didn't notice any difference in noise levels. Not that I'm very perceptive. But it definitely wouldn't account for enough noise that you can't hear people around you. I have had no issues hearing people, and I have some serious mumblers in my car. It must be individual differences, not something systematic. I'm suspicious of the air seals between the frunk and the front doors. Those plastic/rubber pieces are loose and floppy on both sides of my car when the frunk is open, and I'm not sure why. If they flopped out of position, I suspect you'd have a bit of cold air blowing over your knees. Could be completely wrong though.

Yeah so I'm not saying the car is uncomfortable for understanding conversation or listening to music. I'm just pointing out that with everything off there is more noise in the car than I would have expected.

Having a passenger in the car is altogether different. We actually have to speak louder to be heard comfortably, especially with someone in the back seat. :-(

Now THAT, is not normal. That seems to me an abnormally high level of ambient noise, if it seems like you’re having to raise your voices, even moderately.

I had this problem. Called for a mobile repair. They found some problem with the seal on my window and fixed it. Problem solved.

Get an SPL meter or just use this app https://apps.apple.com/app/id1254994873 and hold it close to the area you think you feel air entry and you should see higher dB (make sure and use dBC weighting as most NVH is low frequency). And then call service. I tested the car at 75mph on concrete road with a Galaxy CM140 SPL meter and the average noise in the car is 64dB, quieter than my prior Mercedes or my wife’s Volvo. If yours is significantly louder than that (>70dB) then service needs to check it out.

I don’t either on my Pure AWD. I wonder if the Pures are quieter with the metal roof. I haven’t done a noise level test, but I’ll try it. I’ve got a couple of apps on my iPhone. It strikes me for consistency, people should be using the same apps or equipment and holding it in about the same area. Typically I think you should be holding a noise level meter at about ear level. Otherwise you’re setting up too many variables for comparing results.

I have similar issue with wind noise only at drivers window. Had the technician place plugs etc twice with no effect. My yearly service is coming up in May and will keep you posted on the outcome.

Yes, please do. This problem of wind noise I find vexing partly because I can’t always replicate it. There are some drives I take where very little wind noise intrudes at all. I don’t know if it has to do with prevailing outside winds, outside air temperature, the way the rubber seals are seated against the door frame, or what.

I just got my car out of its yearly service. When I turned my car over a few days earlier, I hadn’t mentioned anything about wind noise to my service advisor because the wind noise wasn’t happening. And then, to make it even more puzzling, the loaner I got (Air GT with fewer than 10,000 miles), happened to have almost the same level of wind noise as my own GT, when I took it up to freeway speeds and faster! I wrote it off to “well, they all do this”, and thought nothing more about it.

I’ve only had a few occasions to ride in the front passenger seat of my GT. But I have noticed that wind noise at that seat is nowhere near as pronounced, if it happens at all.

I can’t imagine the glass roof being the same; more hard surfaces, more sound reflected. The plush pillars and metal roof all lined with alcantara *have* to drink up ambient.

Am a little concerned with the wind noise discussion as we will drive the car typically at higher speeds (100mph+) in Germany. Haven't gotten the car yet.
The BMW IX is really quiet across all speeds. Had 2 different wheel sizes and the car is actually better with 22" wheels (Vredestein M&S) than with 20" wheels (Goodyear EV M&S). So tire choice matters on comfort & noise.

Any feedback of how the wind noise is at higher speeds?

Obviously there's some unexplained variance between cars, but I will say I've had a casual conversation over 130mph (in Mexico) without issue. I think road noise is always louder than wind noise in this slippery little car unless there's actually a strong wind blowing in your face.

I'm jealous, I think you'll have a blast. The only car I've yet driven on the Autobahn was an Opel Mokka. Not exactly a supercar. See if you can get a high speed test drive?

Will try.
Plenty of experience in driving max speeds in Germany whenever traffic allowed for it. There is something very enjoyable going 160mph without having to fear for your license

Written about it in a different thread. Yes wind noise noticeable as low as 35 mph. Glass roof, 21 inch wheels.

I’m too busy worrying about staying in my lane at 130 mph (the fastest I’ve dared take my GT), to even take any notice of any wind noise.

Can anyone confirm if this issue has been resolved with the model year 2024 Lucid Airs?

No, at least not the version built in Jeddah, KSA. Noting that for me it's just the noise, no noticeable air or cold blowing in.

"Soon" there is a TSB but no parts yet.
