Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

Just spoke with my DA and he estimates my Touring will be ready inside of the last two weeks of the year. I cannot imagine the Pure slipping through when they can only make 30-50 cars per week and are prioritizing the AGT and Touring right now.

I had heard that they are making 30-50 cars per Day, not week.

Yeah, the difference is they are delivering Touring right now, and many inside the company have suggested close to all of the "fully loaded" Touring cars will be delivered by end of year.

For Pure, they won't even start production until December. And even then, only the Fathom Blue. So maybe a handful get delivered by EOY? Certainly not all 30k of them.

I would think you'd have to have a very early reservation date, plus the exact right specs (Fathom Blue, AWD, SSPro, DDPro) in order to have even a shot at getting your Pure before January 1.

Spoke to my DA today regarding upgrading my existing order to include DDP to hopefully take delivery this year. He didn't think it was a good idea because an order changed now would incur the increased pricing, and may not be delivered by end of year.

He did mention in passing VINs for Touring are currently being assigned.

That's ridiculous right. Not fair on people who had high hopes of getting their car delivered in 2023. You don't want them to leave them in limbo.
On the other hand, people with old reservation (let's say 2021) can choose that color and get in the first batch. I still think they would probably batch it

I'm considering changing to the Pure also. Especially since there is now a negligible difference in timing between touring and pure in delivery. CNBC reported that the first pures will be delivered by the end of the year

If you change to Pure, you will be charged the current higher prices per information I got from the Design Studio

Yes, and that sucks. But given they are going to only get out probably a couple hundred Pures at most before. year's end, what else are they supposed to do? Change out paint colors for each car as it comes down the line? They had to pick a color to start with, in other words. If they had chosen black, and you wanted white, you'd be in the same boat.

They picked the new blue probably because they thought a good number of people will go for it.

You have not been invited to finalize yet, right? You will get the option to go with blue when you finalize. I'd almost guarantee it.

There's no way they are going to deliver the very first Pures only to people who reserved after yesterday. That would be insanely stupid.

I'm not following this. Blue was not available until yesterday like 2PM EST. So, how can anyone even choose? And, one reserving today with Blue will jump the queue ahead of all reservation holder?

Aren't they supposed to actually invite reservation holder (in a batch) to finalize the order irrespective of whether one confirmed back in Aug 2022 or not? That opportunity would be final review to choose the configuration suitable for one's need that will get locked. Price will get adjusted accordingly.

We have absolutely zero person on this forum who has received any communication on their VIN even though it's 3weeks already.

No one has been invited to finalize a Pure yet, as far as we know. They will be invited in the order in which people reserved, just as they were with GT and Touring. At that point, people will be able to choose blue and be among the first to get their cars.

My guess is Pure finalization invites are imminent. I, too, thought we'd see them yesterday or today. Perhaps they will start next week? Perhaps they will start tomorrow. We'll have to see. But they will definitely start before the first week of December, since that's when production is supposed to begin.
