Gravity Delivery Discussion

It looks like some Gravity production underway. Three Gravity being loaded onto a car hauler today.
I called it on February 6th. If these are destined for Studio's then it's to continue the dog and pony show Lucid is putting on for investors so it can be mentioned on next weeks earnings call "we now have Gravity in store". I could be wrong but If this is indeed the case it's kind of disappointing when you can predict what Lucid is doing from an optics standpoint.

If it is just for static displays at studios, you are right.

If they start letting reviewers do unsupervised drive and reviews, that's a step forward.

If the actually deliver to wait-listed customers, that would be the real test!

Those are prototypes unfortunately, front chargers.

KSA wants the gravities before they deliver is US. International market 🤦

Typical Lucid 😂
Sad but true. Pretty disappointing that after 3 years they’ve learnt nothing from the mistakes they made with the Air launch. They still think silence is the best course of action and only fess up when they need to (aka earnings calls).

I want to thank all the contributors to these forums. You have all provided invaluable insights into the Lucid products and methodologies. I still truly believe that Lucid products are the best EVs on the market. But having said that, with the Dream Edition being released, and the inevitable delays this will add to the GT Gravity deliveries, my wife and I have decided to go in a different direction.

Hopefully in the future, when deliveries are steady, and the technology and software has been verified in real world applications, my wife and I will return to the best engineered EVs available.

Good luck with your purchase! Would you mind sharing what you will be getting? I was looking forward to replacing my Lexus RXL with Gravity.

One of the key components we were looking for was performance. My wife has always demanded a high performance vehicle, even when it was the family vehicle. That was one of the biggest draws she had towards the Gravity.

So due to that demand for performance, we are moving to a Rivian R1S Dual Max. There are really good EV SUVs on the market at a better price point, but they don't provide the performance my wife wants. But she also wants a luxury vehicle, which she doesn't feel a Tesla is, so the only option that covered both was the Rivian for her.

Same here! We haven't decided what to get but we are actively looking. Hoping to come back to Lucid in some years when they smooth out the mass production issues.

I would say you are making a mistake. The difference between the Gravity and the Rivian as a asphalt warrior is night and day. Off road, different story. R1S was a HUGE letdown by comparison for me at least.

I would agree with you, but because most of us haven't been given the chance to actually test drive a Gravity, we don't really have a basis of comparison.

On paper, and on the videos, the Gravity is far superior in performance. But once again, not having the opportunity to verify for ourselves, and the completely undetermined wait times for any type of delivery, have helped make this decision.

If we had driven the Gravity and verified that it outperforms the Rivian, or if we actually knew our Gravity would be delivered before August (our hard stop date), then we may not have made this decision.

A reasonable choice if you need an SUV within the next few months.

I understand it's hard to commit to a car purchase without a chance for a test drive. I also share your wife's demand for power in certain cars. I had the same trepidation when I signed the sales contract for our Air Dream Performance without ever having driven a Lucid.

Now knowing that every single thing that Lucid promised on the Air performance front -- acceleration, handling, ride -- was delivered in spades, I had absolutely no hesitation to committing to a Gravity.

I can't say that Lucid delivered on the initial quality they claimed for the early Airs (all issues long since put to bed through excellent service), but I think that what they say about dynamic performance can be taken to the bank.

Curious why you didn't just wait? The R1S is available within a month. If your hard stop date is August, you could wait a few more months to see how it shakes out. =)

This is a great point. I didn't want to go into too much detail in this environment due to it being Lucid based. But there were two reasons for the choice now.

One was the fact that we are using an ICE vehicle now, and my wife decided that there was no reason to continue spending the unnecessary money on gas while we wait.

The other reason was a significant incentive from Rivian that has a fast approaching expiration date.

As I said before, I believe that the Gravity is a far superior vehicle. The factors above combined with the lack of information, and the delays another new model introduction will create, are the determining factors for the timing of this decision.

For car enthusiasts (a majority on this forum?) that can wait for a great car? A few months are definitely worth waiting.

But for me (and possibly cmansell), I am only looking when I know I need a replacement. Hence I have a hard deadline to meet.

When Gravity announced production I thought I had a chance of getting one by June. It seems less likely now.

Yes it may still happen but the uncertainty is the last straw.

I do envy you guys that have the flexibility to wait, but personally I do have more constraints that I need to work with.
