Gravity Delivery Discussion

I called it on February 6th. If these are destined for Studio's then it's to continue the dog and pony show Lucid is putting on for investors so it can be mentioned on next weeks earnings call "we now have Gravity in store". I could be wrong but If this is indeed the case it's kind of disappointing when you can predict what Lucid is doing from an optics standpoint.
I think this is why Rawlinson was dismissed. Gravity was promised for 'late '24', but not ready, so they handmade a few in December just to say they did. My guess is that when production had to fess up and say any Gravity real deliveries to real consumers won't start until mid to late '25 (hopefully!) The Board finally lost its patience. Pure conjecture on my part, but let's see, do hope I'm wrong.

Dudes, I was pining for a Gravity but pulled the trigger on a R1T Tri Max (Storm Blue!!!) yesterday. (And it will hold a sheet of drywall, LOL.)

I just cannot wait for what I expect will be a year before I would receive my Gravity. I want (not need) a new vehicle now. Maybe when my R1T lease ends, Lucid will be rocking and I will make the transition.

I am concerned about what is happening at the company when the CEO is forced out and we have no clear information regarding Gravity deliveries. Rumors are not confidence building. Telling us deliveries started in December but then nothing has been delivered since is not confidence building. Still, I would have hung in if I thought I might be able to get one in the next month or two. There is no chance of that happening. A year from today is what I actually expect if I placed an order today.

This is a great forum, and I will stick around. I especially want to read about you guys getting your Gravity deliveries. I will live vicariously through you. LOL.

I'm not worried, but you have to do what feels right to you. The R1T and Gravity are two different categories of vehicles.

It’s certainly frustrating! For a company that needs to build brand recognition, this isn’t how you treat customers. The competition is fierce, and while some will wait for what appears to be a fantastic vehicle, there are just as many who will say, “Forget it; I’m getting better deals and responses from X company.”

Enjoy that R1T!
Go get you some drywall! 😀

Sounds like you were going to lease a Gravity, so the R1T lease makes sense. I'm using the wait time to pad savings for larger than planned down payment and lower amount financed. I tend to keep my cars for a long time, so not concerned about depreciation.

Gravity and R1T; suv vs. truck.
Why no R1S?

Lucid's communication could be better. But if Gravity isn't ready yet, we have to wait a bit more or move on.
This seems to happen with every new car I'm interested in. Like wanting the 2026 iPhone but it's still March 2025.

Ghost/embargoed review.😀
Somebody has been driving those 100 Gravities.😀

Before someone suggests the review is based on a pre-production model, yes, could be, but we really don't know for sure.

Mum could be the word til ... .
Seriously, does US News and World Report have any professional staff who do their own research and testing or do they just write articles/reviews like their college and university ranking stuff?! They come across as more like opinions and advertising as opposed to reviews by a knowledgeable source.

Lucid is fast losing its credibility by staying silent and not communicating with what's going on and a timeline.

If Rawlinson was the problem (RE: delays, poor communication, lingering SW issues, etc.) there is only a small window after Rawlinson's removal for Lucid to come clean and reset the expectations.

Please, don't be so dramatic.

US News and World Report lists their sources, right there on the review page.

They never claimed to have driven it, and of course they are opinions. The facts and specs are on Lucid's website. When looking at car reviews, you're literally looking at other people's opinions. That's the definition of a review. Your implication that they aren't knowledgable reviewers would need some backup, since that's a big assumption to make and nothing on that page indicates that's true.

Moreover, you would potentially have a more obvious case if it scored 10s across the board. It didn't, though, and again, that is disclosed right there on the review page:

You'll note they only have ratings for performance (which has been a consistent 10 across every review), the interior, value (it's not a cheap car), and the rating of the critics, which is definitionally an opinion. Fuel economy, Safety, and Reliability haven't been measured since, well, they can't yet.

Also, in case you're wondering, you can see the direct quotes from all of the reviews they reference by specifically clicking into a section, like "Interior." Perhaps it would be better to think of this review as a 'meta analysis' of other reviews, similar to what we do with medical studies.

Agree on the thoroughness of their research and testing.
However, some potential customers may rely on that and any subsequent reviews, based on the overall credibility or reputation of US News and World Report.
I'll take it!
I'm sure Lucid will as well.

P.S. I'm not defending USNWR, I do not care about them nor do I go there for my automotive reviews.

But it's important to note that they are very transparent in their review. That's all I'm saying.

I am not diss'in the Gravity as a fine SUV per se. My point is, US News and World Report's opinion is not based on anything they actually did, other than collating opinions by others. In other words, all they are doing is parroting. It is an ad!

The real questions RE: Gravity are:
> has any reviewer done an un-supervised extensive drive of the Gravity and allowed to test the car in whatever conditions they deem appropriate, including changing the settings, SW, within the boundaries of the car's specs.?
> independent of the testing and reviews and Rawlinson's departure, Lucid still hasn't communicated a timeline. Does that mean they are sticking with the prior party-line that the Gravity was launched and shipped to "customers" in Dec 2024?!

Well they’re not too thorough, EPA is confirmed

“The 2025 Gravity has not received fuel economy estimates from the EPA at the time of writing.”

> independent of the testing and reviews and Rawlinson's departure, Lucid still hasn't communicated a timeline. Does that mean they are sticking with the prior party-line that the Gravity was launched and shipped to "customers" in Dec 2024?!
I hope that you are not implying that Lucid did not deliver nine Gravity on Dec 29 because multiple people on this forum were there and watched it. It’s fine to say that we have not seen any deliveries since the December event but it is not ok to imply that the December event did not happen.

Meta analysis is a good decription.

I rarely read that far into their reviews.
I don't think I've ever read down as far as that "Why You Can Trust Our Reviews" section.

I have to admit though, OoS Reviews has set a new standard for car reviews for me.
However, the amount of time and effort put into this car search is much more than I've ever put in before.
That's mostly because I've never bought an ev before and as I learned more about them, I realized just how much needs to be considered.
There was a time I was almost ready to buy a Genesis Electrified GV70, then I saw the Gravity. Things changed real fast for me.

That review will definitely catch the eye of your average car buyer, which I would venture to say, a lot of forum members are not.

An ad?
I'd say the companies at the bottom of that category would disagree with you.

Parroting?
Some potential buyers are ok with that.
