A paint color not available, kinda hard to imagine that one. I just had a car custom painted and had no restrictions on color. Plus, how long have they known they were going to paint silver and grey cars? I am not giving them a pass on paint. It’s bush league. Carpet I might be able to understand as that could be rejected for a number of reasons and could need to be replaced/resourced.

@CraZ8, @HC_79 , did either of you hear anything back from your DA? I'm also in the same boat - Red/Santa Cruz with a Jan 5th confirmation date. I did send an email to my DA last week - no reply yet.
I think i'm on the sh*t list. I sent my DA an email over a week ago about how disappointed I was with Lucid's management and just utter lack of communication regarding the orders. I basically told him to fess up on whether it was going to be weeks or months to get my delivery and haven't heard a thing back.

I’m probably going to end up n that list with you. I should have taken Noah up on his offer yesterday to buy me a bottle of wine when I had the chance.

I will say, they are nice guys and I do believe they re trying, but I also believe this whole process has been much harder than they ever believed.

I started my own business back in 1976 and sold it 8 years ago with 683 employees in three countries so I know a teeny bit about managing a small company.
Considering the hundreds of millions or billions invested in Lucid and the millions spent on salaries for probably some of the smartest and best educated people on the planet I doubt seriously they are not doing the best job possible to get these cars built and delivered. We now live in the perfect storm of raw material shortages, lack of manufacturing inventory and a delayed delivery system planet wide. These folks have a lot on the line and probably working 24/7 to straighten things out.
I also am a bit flustered at the current situation but am also amused at some of the childish foot stomping that goes on this site. It will happen when it happens.

Amen.

Well, just lost my buyer for my M5, so the delay does impact customers. I had told him I expected March 17 at the outside and I called to tell him it was probably going to be another two months. He said “sorry, but I think I found another car”. Back to the drawing board in this respect…

That is why I am in a particularly prickly mood today.

All good things to those who wait.

We are all so close to VIN day. Then there will be the interminable wait to delivery. Then the complaints that the production or transport or PDI took longer for one car vs another. Then the initial defects and issues with car delivery and set up. Then the complaints about where the car falls short or the range isn’t as expected or the software is buggy or defective….

But c’mon. We are all blessed enough in life to be able to afford a $140K car and to live lifestyles beyond the reach of most humans on this planet. It’ll be a fun ride. Enjoy it!

Just took a peek at Lucid’s career site. Looks like openings for 600-700 people. Many in design, engineering and manufacturing. This bothers me more than anything else I’ve seen posted here. Can’t produce if you can’t staff.

It might be for the Gravity. That’s going to need a lot of work.

Lots of openings doesn’t necessarily mean understaffed; it just means growth. No company, at the moment, can hire fast enough.

The shortage of workers is going to be the largest issue in the short term. Our manufacturing company has started to normalize as far as supply chain is concerned, but their biggest issue is staffing. We have over a year’s worth of revenue in backlog and growing.

Another January VIN assign, delivery estimated 2-6 weeks (down from talking point of 2-8, up from other talking point of 2-4).

To add to the batch tracker i have a:

Quantum Grey
21” wheels
Santa Cruz

Confirmed 11/30/21

Well put.

A friend (not in this forum) got their VIN today, nov 30 confirmation, white / Santa Cruz.

I am one of those waiting until June/July for a Cosmos Silver GT. I try to keep things in perspective. I don’t need this car, for me it is an extravagant gift to myself. A couple more months of anticipation for someone my age is actually exciting. As the saying goes, the thrill of the chase is usually more exciting than getting the prize.
As for Lucid. I will bet that they didn’t offer silver and grey just so they could tick a group of buyers off. I also thought how could paint be an issue but I am glad Lucid is taking the time to get it right. I have owned a car with bad paint, 2006 Honda Civic for my daughter. Paint started fading after about 5 years. One of our favorite things is to take pictures of Hondas with failing paint and send them to each other. Start looking, they are very common. So if Honda can screw paint up, Lucid could also.
Lucid is selling quality, they have to get it right or we will be watching a sequel to the Delorean documentary.

I am also glad they appear to be committed to "getting the car right" as Peter so famously quoted when they announced a 6+ month delay over a year ago. I guess there were too many things wrong at that point to get them covered in that 6 month delay. Can you imagine if he had pushed the car out last May/summer?

@OldAg: You can really write! :)

I don't think Lucid releases silver Airs until the finish is indistinguishable from this:
