I was speaking with Headquarters Sales Advisor to firm up the order for the Grand Touring and my concern about missing Apple CarPlay.

He said no problem, we have CarPlay and Android Auto so no issues...
Can anyone confirm that this is existing functionality or just vaporware? If it exists, I would love to see how that looks on screen.

It's coming (apparently) but no one knows when. As with any car dealer, I wouldn't trust anything that comes out of a Sales Advisors mouth. Lucid's website even lists CarPlay coming as a future update

I would say that, the only thing holding back CarPlay and Android Auto are licensing issues. I'm sure the implementation is just 1 OTA away. Just say I heard from a little bird.

Good to know. If they cracked the UX for it on their screens then I'm excited. CarPlay is the single thing I know I'll miss.

So did the "little bird" happen to chirp about how long we will have to wait? Are we just talking about money?

I don't know about Android auto, but for CarPlay, you need a MiFi license from Apple (https://mfi.apple.com). But Lucid should have had that a long time ago, because that is the only way to legitimately get the info on how to implement CarPlay. Once your product is developed, there is MiFi certification that is required and maybe they are waiting for that.

Well I hope hydbob is correct and Apple CarPlay is coming on the next OTA update. Since my car is still going through the Final Inspection/Detailing maybe that is what's holding it up???

Not likely to hold up your vehicle over CarPlay. Especially when an OTA will add it whenever the time comes. They will have you on the latest software version, but doubtful that the cause is CarPlay.

Sorry I didn't mean to imply "next" update, but moreso that they have an internal build with it enabled.

What a tease...

My thoughts exactly. The HumINT team at Apple can be pretty…”discerning” when it comes to review, which might be the holdup.

Or the reviewer at Apple just want to keep the loaner vehicle a while longer before approving the software...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but everything I've heard internally (from some pretty high up folks) CarPlay is not close to shipping soon. I hope I'm wrong but don't hold your breath.

Thanks for the info. Have you heard anything about when the home charger with bi-directional charging capability will be available? Q2?

You and hydbob must be talking to different "little birds". Hopefully hydbob's bird is closer to the actual situation???

I think that Jon's little birds have more information than my little birds, unfortunately for us regarding CarPlay
