What did you sacrifice for a Lucid Air?

I gave up my 2007 Lexus SC 430 with only 53k miles. I loved that car like I had given birth to it. Mint condition. The only thing that made me feel better about selling it was the great price I got. Well, that and never having to go to a gas station again.
I had that car, it was not made for the northeast roads or weather.

Still on the fence about my Pure (thank goodness it's not in prod yet) but will be sacrificing my custom configured EuroDelivery 2015 BMW 428i coupé from Munchen, Deutschland.

I’ve sacrificed gas and gas stations on the holy altar of Rawlinson. Good riddance!

In exchange for that sacrifice I’ve gained neuroses over parking close to other cars, keeping the car clean and avoiding damage in general. I’ve also gained an addiction to punching the accelerator when opportunity allows, turning every on-ramp into a victory lap and using red lights with no cops near by as a slingshot. I should probably tone it down a bit as I almost sacrificed my drivers license last night when I launched at a red light and then the radar detector went off when I hit 80 in a 45 zone. Somehow he didn’t catch me, I guess I slowed down in time but man that was close!
I thought that the metal coating in the windshield prevented use of a radar detector mounted there. Do you have it mounted elsewhere to avoid this problem.

No that must have been a problem with the first DE, but they’ve had other windshield designs since then. My detector is mounted on the drivers side in the corner of the windshield (the suction cups for my detector didn’t stick to the windshield so I rigged it with transparent command hooks connected to 3M black cable clips so it’s not too noticeable), and while the windshield does interfere with the sensitivity a little compared to the windshield on my prior car, I still have plenty advance warning to have enough time to slow down.

Peace of mind. Had all debt paid off in anticipation of retirement in 2 years. Very inopportune time for the market to tank. WTF…I‘m still getting the AGT!
Celebrate still being alive by borrowing $ to have an awesome car. Or you can be debt free and drive a Camry like my uncle. I’ll take the former.

What model detector are you using?

Just curious what people are letting go of / sacrificing / selling / delaying for their Lucid Air?

Sacrificing the convenience of the Tesla charging cable.

We have several Teslas in the family, and the $500 wall charger. I’ll be the odd man out with my comically oversized charging cable and adapters.

Are the j1772 cables that much bigger than thr Tesla wall chargers?

Possible marital harmony...we shall see. This part of the internet is private, right?
Same, had a big argument about it. Kids against it as well. Now it seems the Car does not want to be with me either. So many issues (my perception) to really like it. Service level not what the DE folks received. Fortunately Kids gainfully employed and set for life.
Took on debt when I had none.

I can relate. I even own a lot of Lucid stock which is also down 40% or more between 3 accounts. I have about 4 more years left that I HAVE TO NOW WORK to Pay this Car off unless LCID Goes back to 57 some time next year.

Double whammy besides the other stuff I said.

Also selling my QX80 but I never liked it unless I was driving it but fortunately will get my money back on it after driving it 2.5 years and 10K miles

Fortunately have a paid off house except for the 6 figures of HELOC to buy Lucid Stock 🤪🤢🤦‍♂️

They both have incredible power, and deliver a lot of energy; but like Gina Carano vs Gal Gadot, one is sleeker.

Actually with gas prices where they are now, the Fed tax credit, and the AZ registration credit over the life of the car, the AGT ends up being just slightly more over 8 years than any of the ICE cars I was looking at purchasing. In addition, I can charge every night and never have to get in the car on my way somewhere and think, great I've got to stop and get gas on the way. Also, no worrying about oil changes and other maintenance. I guess I don't feel like I've had to sacrifice much.

You may have also sacrificed a bit of deniability when the radar detector fails and the court finds these comments! Then again, I may be in the cell next to you!

Sounds like your radar detector saved your bacon. What do you have and how is it set up?

I owned the 1992 lexus SC400 and the 2002 Lexus SC430. Both were a joy to drive. After that my next 3 cars were Porsches

And + 3 years free fast charging from EA for early adopters. That’s also intrinsic value for people who wants to do long distance travel.
