Time for something fun: a car memory test

<snip>

I would love a smaller Lucid - 185 inch length, 4,000 lb. curb weight, 480 hp. That would be my ideal car.
Absolutely. The Air is bigger than I need - if I could get the same engineering magic in a smaller package I’d jump at it

That’s awesome! They are so small compared with the modern sports cars. There is a red 58 Lego you should check out. My son built it of course….

I like your GT. Impressive collection!
Actually, the corvette was a different scale in comparison to the gt! But I agree, modern regulations have “forcefully” made cars bigger. And thats 1/10th the collection!

Does that mean you both are awaiting the midsize sedan or roadster?

Definitely not in the same league as so many car aficionados in this forum:

1972 Cutlas Supreme (1st car, $900, free joint over the visor)
1975 Dodge Colt ($350, 1st manual)
1979 Chevy Citation (not by choice)
1986 Isuzu I-Mark hatchback (1st new car)
1996 Ford Contour
2000 Toyota 4WD RAV4 (manual, still driving)
2012 Ford Fusion
2019 Nissan Leaf Plus (220 mi range)
2021 Tesla Model Y (LR, 320 mi range)
2022 Lucid Air GT (still driving, @500 mi range)

I-mark's are nice! I do wonder, why keep the RAV4 when you got the MY?

Ooo this is a fun one. Also makes me feel old ...

1974 VW Beetle, Marino Yellow. Bought in 1994. Built a 1600cc Weber-carbed motor in my parents' garage one Christmas
1990 Peugeot 405 GR. Because parenthood
1993 Ford Mondeo. Ditto
1974 Saab 99LE Auto, found in a field (and here begins something of a habit ...)
1991 Saab 900i 16v Lux
1996 Saab 9000CSE. Amazing car, drove it at three-figure speeds through France trying to outrun a hurricane
1994 Saab 900S Aero Convertible. Added an aftermarket chargecooler, it was quick. Took it with me when I moved to Cape Town
2000 Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon. The "Dad Racer". First brand new car, loved it very much
1971 Alfa Romeo GT Junior 1600. One of many I should never have let go
1993 Audi 5000 CS. Amazingly comfortable beater for lending to visiting relatives
1966 Porsche 912. Sold the Alfa for this. Technically I still own it but that's a long story
1993 Land Rover Discovery TDI, owned for an afternoon, does it still count?
1999 Alfa Romeo 166 Super. Wonderful engine, pretty dreadful everything else
1993 Peugeot 306 XRdt. Turbodiesel, would throw out quite the smokescreen when you floored it
1999 Toyota Prius. The less said the better.
1991 Saab 900i 16v. Converted (by a prior owner) to run on LPG.
1991 Saab 900i SE. Donated its interior to the LPG one
1999 Renault Grande Espace tD. Surprisingly great vehicle.
2002 Aprilia Atlantic. First scoot, it was great
1993 Saab 900T16S Convertible
1996 Volvo 960 Wagon
1974 Saab 96. Did someone say 'body roll'?
2005 Lincoln Aviator. Drove this one from Scotland to Russia, which was fun
2004 Volvo V70 T5, nicknamed "Clifford" because it was big and red
1994 Saab 900 T16S Convertible - yes, another one
1974 Dodge Charger SE. Complete restoration, recreated one of my old Hot Wheels cars with this one
2012 Ford Explorer Limited. Fine if you like SUVs. Worst infotainment ever.
2007 Vectrix VX-1. Converted to Lithium, way ahead of its time
1981 BMW 320i. Fun but rusty
1974 Ford F150. Because truck. Overly loud V8, B&M floor shifter, lime green / white paint ...
1987 Audi 4000 Quattro. Wish I still had it. Almost the perfect all-rounder.
2000 Porsche 911 Millennium. Shoulda kept this one too
2004 VW Touareg V8. Far quicker than it had any right to be
2003 BMW 330xi. Another restoration, had all the factory Dinan kit
2006 Audi S4 Convertible. Loved that V8
1986 Pontiac Fiero. Nope. Scratched an itch, but terrible to drive.
2015 Tesla Model S 85D
1993 Porsche 968. Current running resto, ClubSport impersonator
2020 Tesla Model S LR+
2022 Lucid Air GT (black)
2022 Lucid Air GT (red)

What's next ...??? I have half an eye on an old Dakota Convertible for hauling stuff around NH (and a bit of summer fun)
I saw a Saab 93 yesterday and was thinking to myself, “I hope Lucid doesnt go the way of the Saab.”

They had a nice run though.

To balance the scales, our. Dry humble list of cars we generally keep until the wheels fall off:

1985- Honda Civic (the only Black one, aftermarket paint job) until 2001
1996- Honda Accord until 2010
2006 Toyota Sienna Limited until 2023 (first vehicle that we replaced the engine)
2015 Toyota Highlander Limited until 2022 (first new car)
2022 Lucid Air GT
2023 Chrysler Town and Country Accessibility Van

I-mark's are nice! I do wonder, why keep the RAV4 when you got the MY?
The I-Mark was an awesome little car - made it from Baltimore to Boston on one tank of gas, which amazed me (ok, it was close). As for the RAV, she's my baby - she's been back and forth across the ocean with me three times and is a sturdy little utility vehicle (and a stick) - so we'll see how long she holds up. I truly disliked the MY after nearly a year and had remembered reading about the LUCID, so I did some research and made the EV swap. I'm not quite ready to go totally EV, especially living in an "EV desert" state.

Does that mean you both are awaiting the midsize sedan or roadster?
Roadster, though if there’s a midsize sedan I’d probably sell my Air for a DE of that, depending of course

If they stuff three motors into that midsize sedan, it would be RIDICULOUS. I can just imagine the packaging and weight reduction, it is also likely for above 5 mi/kwh!

I would get a pure midsize as my first car if it is:
Under 55k, tax credit eligible
Over 300 miles of range
Over 350 hp
and I really would like it to have a gvwr over 6000, although that isnt happening. Then again, Jenkins hinted towards the crossover coming first, so who knows?

Probably that vs a Equinox EV(which has a gvwr over 600) for me!

I would take a small sedan reminiscent of a BMW 3-series or a more modern design of a crossover. I really like some of the product coming out of Polestar. Price point needs to be $60k like the Polestar 2. A roadster could follow. Different segment of course. To do it right it could be a $100k price point.

I think under the current rules most EV’s will not qualify for the full tax credit beginning 2024 due to battery supply chain sourcing issues. Of corse rules are meant to be changed mid-flight.

Yes, you need your batteries from the USA. I do have hopes for Lucid in this regard, as if the Air were under 55k, I believe it would already qualify.

I think we’re steered off topic of this thread “memory test” 🤷‍♂️
