Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

In part, it may both be due to wanting the best chance to get the car in 2022 for the tax credit. Stealth is expensive and delays to 2023. DDP is expensive, but may be useful later down the road, but without it, there will not be a $7500 tax credit. With DDP, there is a better chance to get the credit. Thus you could say it makes DDP potentially a 1500 option. But for sure your are saving 9-10K by not getting it.
Does anyone know if buying a used Lucid would qualify you for the tax credit, or is it new purchases only?

Has anyone leased Lucid instead of buying. If so, could I get an idea of down payment and monthly installments with lease. Thanks

Why no tax rebate if you don’t choose DDP? Thanks

Certainly the longer it takes Lucid to deliver cars to the current reservations the greater the risk customers will decide to get a different car instead, but which of the upcoming competition is legitimately comparable to a Lucid though (serious question)? So far it seems the offerings from even the premium brands don't quite match up?
True but people will settle for 2nd best. Not everyone is young enough to wait and many of them have old cars. Biological clock keeps ticking....

In case you didn't see the other thread, this turns out to be a mistake. There will be no second battery option for Touring.

Insert Price-Is-Right trombone sad sound here.
Agree, website doesn’t mention 2 battery options

Updated release copy below. Again, my apologies for any confusion.

Lucid Air Touring
Lucid Air Touring, with an MSRP of $107,400, is the quintessential Air, featuring a fine balance of performance, luxury, design, and space. As such, it can be optioned with the unique Glass Canopy – a single piece of glass that reaches from the base of the windshield to over the heads of the front passengers for an unobstructed view, as well as DreamDrive Pro, Lucid’s advanced driver assistance system. Full specs and additional details for Lucid Air Touring will also be shared on November 15.
I'm sorry team. This is incorrect and will be corrected momentarily. My apologies for this.
Hi, there is a lot of confusion between DD and DD Pro. Not what each does, but whether DD has LIDAR, whether Pro hardware or OTA software can be added after car purchased with DD only. Other than lot of pressure to sell us DDPro, SAs are all over the place with hardware difference between 2 options. One guy finally said, “I don’t know, the company is not telling us”. Isn’t that shocking? Could you as Lucid official please clarify? Thanks

I do think some of the earliest people who finalized will get their cars by end of the year. But how many is an open question.

Personally, I'm good with 3 months, as my Model 3 lease happens to end on Feb 1. So I may end up with my Touring within a few days of dropping off the Tesla.

Of course, if Lucid gets me my Touring sooner, I'm not going to say no. Especially if I can lock in that $7,500 credit with 100% certainty.
Do you have to have delivery in 2022 for federal tax credit to be valid?

It’s been changing and has been hard. But they have created a thread that kind of answers your questions and the current state of things. So now we have a pretty good idea of the features at least. And no it can’t be added afterwards.

No one knows for sure. What we do know is getting your car before the end of 2022 will definitely get you the credit. Beyond that is up to the IRS.

Some info has changed over time, but for the most part, what we’ve always been told is that DDPro contains LiDAR and some extra cameras. Dream Drive does not. There is a hardware difference, in other words. And there are no plans for any sort of retrofit for buyers who get Dream Drive to upgrade to the hardware in Pro later.

One representative from Lucid suggested to a member here that some sort of software Dream Drive Pro “Lite” upgrade would eventually be offered. Without the hardware, I assume it would provide some similar features of Dream Drive, only not quite as good without the extra hardware to power it. That is almost complete speculation, however, since it did come from a Lucid rep, supposedly, but nothing official has ever been stated about it. For all we know, it’s an idea being kicked around the water cooler.

When it comes to information given to customers by Lucid’s SA and DA employees, it can be quite hit or miss as far as accuracy goes. If 20 different SAs all say the same thing, I tend to think they are talking about a decision that just hasn’t been made public on the web site yet. When it’s only coming from one source, I tend to approach it with a “wait and see”. Plenty of things have turned out to be wrong in the past. But others have come true eventually.

On the 15th, we’re going to get more “official” news about Touring and Pure than we’ve ever received from Lucid to date. Up until now, because all confirmed customers were either GT or Dream, Lucid has kept details for Pure and Touring under wraps. We’ll know a lot more soon.

Spoke to my DA finally today. He did say that there are rumurs of Touring will have more range than 406. That statement got me excited because in real world driving, I I’m able to get 350 miles of city/highway. I would be happy. Can’t wait for the 15th.

In the earnings call today, Peter emphasized that testing of Touring *matched* the existing outgoing Air GT 4.6 mi/kwh. This is probably assuming both the Touring and the GT are on the 19" wheels with all-season tires.

With 18 modules in Touring and 22 modules in GT, it'd be reasonable to assume that the Touring should have ~421 miles of range (516 mi / 112 kwh ~ 4.6 mi/kwh / 22 * 18 modules = 421.5). Glad to see that they matched the 4.6 mi/kwh number, though there might some tradeoff between a lighter car without the 4 modules (~400lbs I read somewhere) but the lower 756V voltage architecture compared to 924V in the GT.

It's not that you won't get a tax rebate if you don't choose DDP, but instead it is about taking delivery in 2022.

If you fully spec out your Touring (meaning taking the glass canopy, Dream Drive Pro and Surreal Sound Pro) AND don't take the Mojave interior or Stealth, you have the best chance to have your Touring model delivered first and first may be before the end of 2022.

The Mojave interior, metal roof, and Stealth package all state they would have later availability (ie likely 2023).

There are a few tax credit threads that will get you up to speed (and likely confused as we all are) with regards to it.

To sum up.
If you bought/took delivery before the Inflation reduction act, you'll get the credit.
If you signed a binding contract (open for about 7-10 days prior to the Act being signed) and take delivery in 2022, there is a good chance you get the credit.
If you signed the binding contract and take delivery in 2023.......we don't know the answer to that.
If you buy and take delivery in 2023 without the binding contract, you won't get the tax credit.

Thanks for the reply. IRS website does not specify that EV has to be delivered before 12/31/22.

Specifically the paragraph-

Transition Rule for Vehicles Purchased before August 16, 2022

If you entered into a written binding contract to purchase a new qualifying electric vehicle before August 16, 2022, but do not take possession of the vehicle until on or after August 16, 2022 (for example, because the vehicle has not been delivered), you may claim the EV credit based on the rules that were in effect before August 16, 2022. The final assembly requirement does not apply before August 16, 2022.

Based on this, hopefully EV credit still valid even if delivery after 12/31/22! as men before up to IRS!!

Confirmed my order today. Email was sent from Lucid then there was a follow-up email sent from the sales person we were in touch with a few hours later.

Kindly update my entry to reflect.

I’m excited that Peter emphasized Touring will have the same efficiency as the GT. If true, it will have longer range than the refresh model s. Another thing Peter said was they will start first Pure delivery right before year end. So does that mean all Touring regardless of DD pro or SS pro will be delivered by year end?

I’m excited that Peter emphasized Touring will have the same efficiency as the GT. If true, it will have longer range than the refresh model s. Another thing Peter said was they will start first Pure delivery right before year end. So does that mean all Touring regardless of DD pro or SS pro will be delivered by year end?
I hope so. Already 3k reservations were canceled 37k to 34k. If 3k are Touring and very few remain gt and others, 30k pure? Of the 30k I would guess that 70% are rwd no ddp no ssp. They are price sensitive 70% and could consider ioniq 6 if they cannot get it by the end of 23. Did I miss something or there was no guidance for 23 targets? https://www.kbb.com/hyundai/ioniq-6/ 350 miles awd sedan version of the well received ioniq 5 which has very high demand with 6k mark up.

I am curious as to why some folks are assuming Lucid has “lost” several thousand reservations. They delivered over 2k of those reservations throughout the quarter. So yes, lost a few maybe, and more importantly didn’t seem to gain many new reservations. But it’s not like 3k people just walked away.
