Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Grand Touring

It was a criticism of Lucid's communication to you, not your understanding of it. They have the details and they choose to give you vague answers.
So what your saying is that the DA's have information that their not sharing with clients? They only have the information their given from the higher up's. Can you for one minute imagine how difficult a job this would be given the limited information they have to share. Unless you have real first hand knowledge that information is being withheld give these people a break.
 
I bought a used Lucid Air Dream Edition 058 last Friday July 22nd. As of today, July 27th, Lucid still has not associated my car with my Lucid App. I complied with their demands to prove that I bought the car. I even sent them a picture of it parked in front of my house at the address that they have on file! Lucid contacted the seller and confirmed that I am the rightful owner. Five days later -- zippo (the Illinois DMV, arguably the most inefficient organization on the planet, took about 45 minutes).

Because Lucid refuses to activate my car, none of the connected services work (although the car constantly asks me to set up the app, Alexa, etc.). At one point, I was in Pensacola, Florida (the seller's location) in 100 degree and 100% humidity and I could not even get the air conditioning to function because the car was hung up on the registration screen. The prior owner told me that the only way to reliably open the doors is with the app, but the app won't recognize my car. Because Lucid STILL has not changed the car's registration on their end! Eventually I think/hope I figured out the key fob problem on my own.

Each one of my customer service interactions has been more frustrating that the last. Not one of those people has said anything like "welcome to Lucid." Or "how do you like the car so far?" None of them has given any indication that they care -- AT ALL. I have told them several times that I want to meet with Mr. Rawlinson (I offered to go to Arizona to see him). They won't even acknowledge that request. So far, I am impressed with the car but my interactions with the company have made me seriously consider whether I made a big mistake.

I have bought a lot of reasonably serious cars. I sold my 2022 Mercedes EQS 580 at a significant loss to make room for the Lucid. Candidly, so far, the Lucid car itself is a superior car to the Mercedes by any measure. But Lucid's customer service / owner interaction has been so dismally poor that I am considering ditching it. Unfortunately, the market seems to be saturated by existing owners willing to sell below MSRP. By now, any competent organization would have contacted each of those people to find out why. Obviously, nine out of eleven of those owners are not trying to score a windfall profit. They just want OUT. There are only 520 Dream Editions in the World. How hard would it be for Lucid to make them happy?

From another thread, but needs to be read by all who are on the fence about the car purchase and eventual resale.
I'm shocked that Mr. Rawlinson wouldn't meet with you! At this point I'd sell the Lucid.
 
Yes we are and very high level people are involved in helping me at Lucid and the Car is being taken to Houston tomorrow to address 10 issues.

I am not sure why you want to make me out as the villain. I spent 150K on this Car. It is in my best interest that it works for me but unlike some folks here I absolutely will not accept everything under the caveat “you should have known you were buying a new vehicle from a startup”.

Hopefully every item will be addressed and we will live happily ever after.

They choose not to communicate build status to the DAs or the customer. Instead they now instruct them to use vague phrases, "around Labor Day", "3rd quarter to mid 4th quarter" for VIN date and delivery, that way they are not often wrong. This is a change. I was given a time frame by my DA for VIN "May 15" and delivery "6 to 8 weeks after VIN." I do not fault the DA at all, he told me that they cannot see any factory data, but he knew someone who could. It is the senior management that is not allowing the customer, or the DAs to be told the status of vehicle builds.

I agree with that statement. I went through the same frustrations but once the car was delivered all of that faded away as the car is the most fun I've had driving in along time. reserved 10/15/21 order confirmed 12/15/21 Vin 4/18/22 delivered 6/9/22

As @Jim2877 points out. For anyone sitting on the fence based on the pre delivery communication \ delivery issues. Don't cancel out of frustration because it's going to probably take just as long to get a car you want with all the delays and supply chain constraints at the moment. You will enjoy the car once you have it and the post delivery service is spot on.
 
Thanks for this info, I was hoping this would happen. My mobile service tech said he’d seen 50 (yeah I heard him right, FIFTY not FIFTEEN) 21” Pirelli fail, and only one 19”.
I'm guessing that the 20's won't have nearly zero problems either. Fortunately there are all kinds of aftermarket 19" wheels available for the Model S which should fit the Air - even good-looking aero versions.

This forum is like a therapy session. Sometimes you just need someone to vent to , and it’s even more effective when you don’t who most of them are.😉😉😉 Plus it’s a hell of lot more convenient than making an appointment, because I can get on here at 2:00AM , and low and behold , someone will either completely ignore me ( recommended) or I will have a nice intelligent response in no time.

FWIW based on my current order configuration and seeing others' VIN assignments in the tracker, but not mine - it does appear that changing a car's configuration does change the order priority date to the new configuration's change date.

Yup, didn't meet the reserve. Apparently the Reserve price was $143k. I do think if Lucid had come out with a SUV as their first car, the used car market value would have been through the roof, like it is for Rivian right now, even though used car market is slowing down. There are 3 RNM auctions on BringATrailer out of 4 listed Lucid too.

I understand they were trying to put out the most impressive numbers in terms of range and other spec and "make a splash", and it's easier to do that with a lighter more aerodynamic car which is a sedan. But I don't think anyone who is looking for a SUV would change their mind and go for a sedan no matter how impressive the sedan is. Hence the market for sedans shrinking and manufacturers even cancelling sedans here and there. A sedan just doesn't meet most families' needs in this day and age ( or most families are convinced so ;)).

Just trying to understand the market. I personally don't like or need to drive a SUV. Lucid Air works perfectly for my family of two :)

I hope so very much that, that is not true😆 I changed my exterior color choice 4 weeks ago. 3.5 months after confirmation 🥺

Clearly he purchased to make a profit on it and it's backfired because it's not generating as much interest as Rivians are. The video is hilarious. Let's show the lake near my home, my big rich house and expensive car 😂

$130K so he lost money on it. Interesting that it went nowhere near what the AGT's sell for now. Worrisome if sales will slow down alot now due to the price increases.
