New Variant coming....

If it is a three-motor, flared fender, even CF-bodied beast the collectors at the Quail will have already put in their orders. More enduring buzz would be a lower-priced vehicle, IMO. Despite very high prospective profit margins on the higher-priced Air variants, Lucid has to start making quality deliveries of the orders on the books to serve its shareholders.

yep..... and here we go. Didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Lucid was going to be criticized for it's production numbers when making this announcement and to focus on delivering cars rather than making announcements for new ones......

Maybe bc 37,000 reservation list is just not enough of queue when production truly ramped up and supply chain constrain starts easing? They need more marketing hype to double that reservation number since AMP-1 has tremendous capacity once it is fully complete.

If this variant is $200,000+ it's not going to drive the reservations up, especially in this current market. Lucid needs to get the Pure in production ASAP because it's the most popular one and they may see a spike in reservations once people start seeing them on the roads. The Gravity "should" spike the reservations a lot given how popular SUV's are in the US. I think Lucid would generate more PR and buzz if they announced opening the Gravity reservations and price.

Seems bragging rights and sending a message to Elon are more important than delivering vehicles at this point in time.

It is, just like I referenced in another post above...the Saudis and Peter want to give Elon the big F you. Plus, this announcement and development almost certainly didn't do anything to alter or hinder production.

Opening Gravity reservations doesn’t mean much for the factory at this time. Even if there are 5 reservations for trimotor, atleast they could be build in factory. Also, who said the new announcement won’t have people looking into Air pure. My .02$

I don’t think “a few Twitter comments” matters as much as the PR of being officially the best car on the road, bar none.

A third model to drive more reservations and get more cash on hand with reservation deposits. They need cash!!! Oh, the third model release date is 2037 😉

Yep...... It's good to be all talk though and very little action. If it's to be sent as an F you to Elon what do you think the response is going to be? It will be something similar to him having more kids per quarter than Lucid can actually deliver cars. Like I said, it's always good to see new models \ variants but given Lucid's production woes this just seems like the wrong time to be announcing a new variant in an already backlogged production.

I don't think Lucid has a massive PR problem with its current cars. They seem to be getting very positive reviews from the Dream, Grand Touring and Grand Touring P so whatever this variant is will probably get the same positive PR. What's not happening is reservations don't seem to be jumping tremendously based on these reviews and production is running at a snails pace. If I saw this announcement and it says "coming early 2023" I wouldn't believe it based on the fact they can't get production ramped up and more than likely wouldn't reserve. You can't just keep announcing new and shiny toys and on the production side of the house not have your shit in order.

I think the Pure should be a viable A6 replacement- with the tax credit they are within spitting range price wise (to a high-ish spec A6) and the Pure is only 2” longer/wider (but more spacious inside obv)
Yes. It is about the same size as the A6, BMW 5 series and MB E series. While I prefer something smaller, I have been driving a BMW 5 series for some time so the size will be comfortable for me.

We will have to see what the Pure comes with. I have previously said, not here, that I would not buy another car without a HUD. I love my HUD. But the Lucid is a reasonable alternative with the display floating in front of the driver. I have ventilated seats in my current DD and I can barely feel them, and only when I have been exercising in the heat.

The problem with PR for a new brand is it has to be constant. People don’t forget about Mercedes, because it’s been a household name for such a long time. Tesla is, in most places, now in a similar state.

For Lucid, though, they need to remain constantly in positive press, for a while, in order to become a household name. Furthermore, the positive PR of being quite literally the best car on the road in every attribute has nothing to do with Elon, and everything to do with being able to say exactly that.

Lucid is trying to establish itself as the player to beat. This is orthogonal to the build pipeline, which is improving, but must get figured out either way, whether they announce anything new or not. These two axes work in tandem, but not in series.

I had ventilated seats in a 2015 Kia Soul EV, and they would get uncomfortably cold if left on the highest setting for a length of time. They were definitely very actively cooled without assistance from cabin air temperature.

Can't take that precious energy to actively cool to be the most efficient...

First time I had ventilated seats was on the e-Tron. Comparing the e-Tron to the Lucid ventilated seats the Lucid's appear to be cooler. On both cars they had to have the setting on high to actually be effective though. I think anything cooling related on EV's is toned down due to the energy consumption.

#BlueMeansGo ?

#GreenMeansViagra ?

Not all EVs. That Kia Soul could freeze my ass off.
