Sandy Munro is finally coming around to the view that Lucid is the only player whose powertrain technology surpasses Tesla's.
However, Munro's views must be kept in context. He does not look at cars from the perspective a typical customer does but rather from that of a manufacturing engineer. In a recent interview in which Munro lauded Lucid's powertrain, he went on to say that Tesla "clobbers" Lucid in everything else.
This ignores that fact that almost every major auto reviewer has found the Air to be superior to the Model S in terms of passenger space, handling, ride compliance, cabin noise levels, luxury features, and structural integrity. (As a person who has owned two Model S's and two Lucid Air Dream's, I also find this to be the case.)
So, yes, it's nice to see Munro praise Lucid's powertrain technology. But he remains very blinkered about other aspects of the Lucid -- and the very things to which most customers give more attention than to the manufacturing processes that so command Munro's attention.
