You shouldn’t assume that the general public would choose Lucid when 99% of the public has no idea they even exist, and the prices exclude a huge majority of buyers. Tesla does no advertising but everyone knows about Tesla - and they sell millions of cars a year to people who aren’t fanboys or care about FSD. Lucid can be objectively better but if no one knows who they are except diehard Air owners then momo will be right. Tesla literally has the best selling vehicle of any kind in the world. I feel pretty attuned to EVs and I see absolutely zero about Lucid outside of this forum.

Agree, advertise….people will understand. Now that SUV is coming, this will add more traction. Only reason Rivian got popular was because it’s an SUV. Don’t forget, Lucid is also in Europe and Middle East.

Tesla got first mover advantage, Musk pumping his company helps, Tesla fanboys who made money on TSLA constantly hype it up as well…you can’t compete with that.

But the midsize will create significant buzz.

I dunno man, I know so many people with Teslas and Rivians. When I mention lucid, they all just tune out. No interest. They need to advertise a lot more and not just internet ads. Like I don’t know…Set up a deal with Costco, put the Gravity outside! Let everyone see it! Amazon started direct to consumer car sales with Hyundai. Put the Lucid up there. And so it early when there’s still hype and interest around it. Or put the lease deals on streaming services like Netflix, paramount, Amazon Prime... Or any number of things! The only ads I see are banners on ad filled internet sites.

FWIW, I saw a Lucid ad this morning during the Manchester Derby streaming on NBC. It was a short, 15 second one but it was the newer version.

BTW - what's your thing with Tesla "fanboys"? What does that even mean? You do realize a TON of women drive Tesla's too right? In fact, the Model Y was the number 1 seeling VEHICLE in the world in 2023. I think Tesla is WAY past the fanboys stage - whatever that is.

I think fanboys would better describe those of us on the forum. 98% of people buying a Tesla don't own the stock, and have never posted on a Tesla forum.

I owned a 2016 (Lemon) and 2017 Model X P100D - good car - kept it until warranty ran out in 2021 - no real problems - blistering acceleration, good 3 row for our family of 5 - but my wife made the decision to not pursue another one based on the following simple fact…

she was tired of being a public spectacle every time she opened the falcon wing doors - we suprisinglly had no problems with them functionally - they worked great the during our entire ownership period - but we could not get the past the "attention" that would be given to us every time we were using them…so we moved on to something else…

while Tesla pulled the FWD's "off" - I still think they did more harm than good long term - and its certainly the reason we did not purchase a replacement Model X

We had a 2017 Model X as well - it was a great car, but I was always worried we’d get hit by someone and some minor damage would mean that we’d never get the doors to work properly again. We actually had more trouble with the front passenger door closing and latching properly than we ever had with the FWDs.

Well, actually, it was a serious drag to try to use the FWDs in our garage to let passengers in or out - we’d always have to load/unload in the driveway.

We replaced it with a Gravity DE and have zero regrets; it’s an incomparably better vehicle.

Not a joke (not a deliberate one, anyway). Just one of the innumerable clickbait car videos that show up on YouTube day in and day out, full of photo-shopped and AI-generated nonsense. Sometimes I just run through a few of them to send the funniest ones to the car fans among my friends.

AI has exponentially sped up the dumbing down of the internet, giving us a preview of the price it may ultimately exact for whatever actual benefit it might eventually produce.

I am definitely not a Tesla fanboi or Musk fan at all - but the reason so many people are, as you describe, is because the stock has created generational wealth for many, many, many people. Sorta the opposite of LCID.

A fanboy is a retail investor who thinks Musk -- whose Tesla holdings dropped to 13% only because he sold boatloads of his Tesla stock to fund other businesses and vanity projects such as Twitter -- should have his ownership level restored at shareholder expense.

Tesla's net profit last year was $7.1. That's 0.007 of the pay package Musk demanded . . . and got, thanks to a captive board and gullible retail investors.
