Gravity Delivery Discussion

We can only hope this means the 2025 production capacity has been sold out, as otherwise it means it's going to be late in the year before anyone gets their Gravity.
Car companies routinely sell the next model year starting as early as Summer of the current year…

Car companies routinely sell the next model year starting as early as Summer of the current year…

Traditionally in the U.S. September used to be the month that models switched to the following year. This was done for a couple of reasons: television viewership picked up after summer ended, so advertising new models got more eyeballs; and dealers had the summer peak sales season to clear out prior model inventory.

However, as advertising and sales patterns have shifted, new model year switches have crept upward with some manufacturers, especially with EVs which tend to have more ongoing changes throughout the year than at the annual retooling break when exterior and interior designs changed on a yearly cycle. Tesla actually had a lot to do with this with its early decision to make continuous modifications, especially to software, as they became ready.

But I still find it weird that Lucid is signaling a model year switch in March for a car that has hardly begun deliveries as a 2025 model. This does raise the question of whether the switch they put on their website some weeks ago was really the typo they claimed it was, or whether they pulled back for a while due to the speculation it created about the delivery schedule.

With some people posting to anticipate deliveries starting June, I believe the typo wasn’t an error but rather someone let the cat out of the bag early. This suggests that Lucid had no intention of delivering vehicles soon after the delivery event but simply didn’t want to be transparent about it.

Or that perhaps Dreams will be delivered first as 2025’s and then GT’s as 2026? Just pure, wild speculation!

Rhetorical question:

Did they know the delivery timeline a few months ago when we noticed the 2026 model year and just humored us by changing it to 2025? 😀

I think you are on-point! We will find out in a few days. If Lucid indeed cannot deliver the Gravity till June and then re-designate it as a 2026 model, it makes you wonder about the company!

Anytime after January 1, the following MY vehicles can go on sale. Honda Jaguar and Land Rover are selling 2026 MY cars (at least they have certified for sale already). The original 1965 Mustang went on sale in April of 1964. The 2022 Honda Odyssey went on sale in mid January 2021.

Personally I do not believe there will be any 2025 Gravitys. The handful delivered in December will be listed as delivered in January to meet current law and will be VINed as 2026 MY vehicles.

Here's one way to get a lot of views. Post a video with this title.

Don't waste your time, he's talking about the Saudi orders, not US. Title made me look.

Also, image is shown below, not link to actual video.

I don't know what to make of this video short. Does this car have aftermarket wheels, or are those the 20/21" wheels with the aero blades removed?

I thought I read or heard somewhere that the initial nine deliveries all had the Tahoe interior. Am I wrong, or is this a car delivered since? It also doesn't have the titanium-colored calipers which are part of the handling package, and I think all the first nine deliveries were fully optioned, including the largest wheels.

I had to laugh at calling the color "Hearse Green", though. I've chosen Aurora Green for our Dream Edition, but I am already so tired of seeing the Gravity in that color that I appreciate the snide humor of it.

Negative, 2025.

The panel gaps look pretty good on the Gravity in the video for an early-production unit -- if that's what this is (as I do wonder about those white stickers left on the wheels).

This video did answer one question I had about the Aurora Green. That car is filthy, but the green panels don't show it too badly.

The green doesn’t show dirt very much. Learned that at the December event when they drove through a bunch of dirt roads and the cars still looked great.

They used a leaf blower to blow the dust off the Gravity before pictures.

Wish that worked on my Zenith Red. Dust sticks to it like glue . . . although that may be the Xpel wrap I have on it. Just can't win.

I'm sure the black Gravity I have on order wont show any dirt...I mean, dirt is black, right? 🤣

Well it's official! Just ran across this post on X from Nick Twork!

We should have Gravity deliveries before August!!! (mark your calendar for July 31 delivery at 11:59pm) Lol.

Or, alternatively, one could also interpret this post from a glass half-empty standpoint as it could also mean they will be delayed beyond August...as in "no, it's not delayed until August--it's delayed until September!". 🤔
