Gravity Bugs / Issues

Perhaps somewhere in the multiverse a gremlin-free Gravity has been delivered to someone?
Quantum mechanics would suggest - yes!
I see people say that a lot but here in SoCal I see tons of Cybertrucks. Several a day usually if I'm out and about.
Cybertrucks are also very popular around Park City, UT. I see at least one or two if I am out.

Watch out… just by observing this you’ve changed it completely…

Huh. I guess I got used to the Air not being great at recommending the charging stops I wanted so I just would find them on Plug Share or ABRP and put them in manually. So when I drive to NYC and back when I get my Gravity I was just gonna look up on the Tesla app and manually add that stop too (or other site if ABRP recommends it). And I’d run Waze in the background so it can alert me to road hazards and cops if needed.

My concern is the loss of GPS signal in our cell phones every few minutes. We'll be trying @Ron_Burgundy's workaround by keeping at least one of the cell phones away from the charger pad. As he said putting the cell phone in the cupholder was not far enough away, I guess we'll have to get creative.

The Cybertruck has been suck a monumental flop that there's not a big rush on the Tesla slide for 1000V chargers; nothing else they build can take advantage of them.
Still selling twice as well as the Air (albeit far fewer than planned.)
The bigger flop is the 4680 cells in it which won't benefit from 1000V chargers. V3.5 Supercharger already charge it at 325kW but for such a brief range of SoC it's hard to see how it could take advantage of a higher power charger.

These Gravity nav/gps posts are making a vehicle with built-in Google maps seem pretty attractive.

Couple thoughts on Cybertruck
1) Cost - they’re giving it away with 0% APR financing and crazy lease deals. You don’t do that on cars that sell well. It’s become much more “affordable”.

2) Geography - Many of us are in geographies where we see lots of expensive cars. People buy them for lots of reasons. I see a couple of Ferraris a week, same with lambos. Yes, I see 2-3 CTs a day, doesn’t mean they’re popular except among a certain set of folks. Also doesn’t mean they’re broadly popular - some of us probably have a tilted view. Yes, I am speaking to those in Park City, or almost any part of CA…

3) Sales via a vis Lucid - Tesla told folks they expected to sell a ton of cyber trucks and guided to that. Lucid did not guide to that for Air or Gravity. Also, not comparable cars. While we don’t know, I expect the Air is outselling the S in the US right now (hence Lucid’s “best selling” in its class claim). That’s more “apples to apples”. The S has a tired design and, aside from better storage/cargo (the Air trunk is a joke) and not being AS low to the ground as an Air, I can’t imagine someone choosing an S over a similarly spec’d Air if the person was really open minded. And yes, I know FSD and software for Tesla are more advanced for now.

I was at a Lucid dealership yesterday where I was approach by two different people asking about getting into a Gravity from their Tesla S. Was super cool to see, I encouraged them regarding both models Lucid has to offer.

Anywho, was super cool to see. But, I get mistaken for a Lucid employee a lot, lol. Not a bad thing as it would be a cool job, but likely just because I wear the merch… and am kinda young.

Completely off topic, but there’s no Gravity merch yet, right? By that I mean hats, shirts…

Just so everyone is aware, I was told how to reset the vehicle a third way yesterday. Besides in the settings screen, holding the brake with microphone and X, I was instructed to put the vehicle in park, turn on the left blinker, exit the vehicle and walk away. I was told that should clear my rear wheel steer alert, headlight service alert and a navigation issue. The rear wheel steer alert hasn’t popped up yet, headlight error still persists and nav issue does as well.

Hmm.... as far as I'm aware the only option to reset the Gravity is via the steering wheel. The indicator one, I haven't heard being used for a LONG time. It may have just been coincidence as those random errors do often disappear when you've left the car in a sleep state and return to it naturally.

I wrote about a similar problem (along with a few other concerns) a few weeks ago here:

Post in thread 'Gravity Bugs / Issues'

My service appointment is finally close (Monday 8 Sept.) and they’re telling me they’ll have to keep the car for 10-14 days due to their service backlog. The good news is i’ll be given a Lucid Air loaner car. Will be my first time driving an Air.
Update:
Dropped off my Gravity yesterday morning for service for all issues mentioned in the aforementioned thread, and was given a spanking brand new (21 miles on the odometer 😳) Air Pure as a loaner.

Having NEVER driven a Lucid before taking delivery of my Gravity, the Gravity is the only experience I've had with the brand. Sitting in an Air vs Gravity is a striking contrast in space and visibility. Obviously two different cars on two different missions, but the differences (especially visibility) are striking to me. I also chuckled to myself at how much less space the Air takes up in my garage. It feels tiny by comparison to the Gravity.

I have an AGT loaner. Super fun to drive. But, goodness, it is SO LOW to the ground. I have a hard time getting in and out and so do my kids! I feel like it’s the same height as a Corvette.

It’s very clear Lucid learned a lot from the Air and basically addressed everything that made me NOT buy an Air when they made the Gravity.

That said, if I needed an extra “fun” car, I’d definitely get an Air of some level. It’s a lot of fun.

There is, but yah gotta work with Lucid to get it. Nothing public that I can see yet.
Work “with” or “for” Lucid? If I did not know it was a total a-hole thing to do I’d make a shirt saying “I paid six figures and all I got was a Gravity - not even a t-shirt!”

This oral tradition stuff is getting out of control. I literally thought you were going to say you had to touch your nose and jump in a circle…

I think Lucid is just messing with us now to see how far we will go to fix a bug…they probably have access to the car cameras and are too busy laughing at us to fix the bugs. 😀

The Air and Gravity resets are similar, in that the steering wheel reset (and the logo reset in the Air) only reset the infotainment system.

In both vehicles, the only “real full reset” is to let the car fall asleep and then wake it up again. You can track the state from Home Assistant in real time.

Was so taken by the size difference between the Air and Gravity I neglected to mention something they added to the work order for my Gravity when I dropped it off: "Driver Side Hush Panel". The note says it's a recall campaign, and reads:

"The driver's side hush panel may interfere with the brake pedal, preventing it from fully returning to its resting position. This can result in the brake system remaining partially engaged, leading to a reduction in power."

I'm not even sure what the heck a "hush panel" is, and how it might impede brake travel. The name implies it's an affordance for quietness in that area of the car. Anyone know for sure?

What are you using for map navigation instead of HERE? HERE in the Air is hit or miss, but pretty usable most of the time for me. That’s a bummer if HERE is worse in the Gravity as part of the selling point of Gravity is much better route planning features than the Air.
I'm using the in-car nav, but I double-check all charging stops it suggests in PlugShare and the vendor app. I also sanity-check the directions (it still thinks you can't turn right onto my street...) and am wary for it directing me down wrong-way streets in cities.

Do you have a sense of how long this *really* takes, and if there are different levels of sleep?

When I had my "blinking screen and can't drive" problem they had me lock and walk away for 30 seconds, and said that once the cluster goes dark it's sleeping. This clearly didn't work. However letting it sit for 40 minutes did. I did not leave the blinker on.
