First pre-production Gravity reviews are coming in

It’s very early but overall impressions are promising. Honestly the more I see of it the more I think it resembles a minivan rather than an SUV. Just my personal opinion and I am sure the design team had certain parameters and features that they were working towards ie short frunk low long wheel base etc. Not necessarily a bad thing if that’s what you’re going for.

It looks like a lifted wagon. :)

Stop saying things like this don’t you know people aren’t having enough babies already
We stopped at 2 because I refuse to drive anything other than a sedan. The Gravity reviews may point to a possible redemption of the Dad forced to trade away the "cool" car for the wretched SUV/minivan.

Minivans are cool. Have a kid and you’ll agree.

No one has ever asked to borrow our Model S or our Air. I can't count how many times friends have asked to borrow our minivan. Five adult friends even used it once for an out-of-state road trip I had to bow out of due to a family illness.

The only reason we're getting a Gravity is because it can cover all the duty our Odyssey can. (But I'll miss those rear sliding doors.)

I just showed my wife the 41 picture gallery on one of the reviews and her first comment was “it looks like a station wagon”. She has been driving yuge SUVs for 25 years - gonna be hard to break her of that preference.

Lose the slides. Gain back a younger you.™️

There are so many comments about it looking like a minivan...but there's no way you can get the space inside without that shape. It's just impossible and the minivan form is the most efficient way. SUV for off-road utility, minivan for space utility, Lucid for sport utility. Best Damn Car
It looks like a slighly raised sportwagon....fantastic!

Based on all of these reviews, the Gravity seems to be an incredible vehicle, and the Lucid team deserves every bit of praise for delivering it.

My only hope is that its sophistication isn’t lost on its target audience. [Cammisa puts it more bluntly than that]. Outside of Gravity, a lot of us appreciate sportwagons because of their remarkable combination of sport, styling, and utility. But the general population clearly does not. If Lucid’s marketing team can go on the offense against “minivan” and other irrational stereotypes, the Gravity should sell in quantities befitting the quality of the vehicle.

I don't think that Lucid marketing needs to go on the offense against the "minivan" impression. Most of Lucid's market does not give a shit if some other people think it looks like a minivan. The performance and handling videos put an end to the minivan narrative anyway.

Not necessarily against “minivan” only, but against irrational stereotypes in general. And perhaps a way to do that is to create your own narrative, e.g., the “vomit comet” videos.

The marketing brief could be to make it cooler to roll up to your high school or college reunion in one of these and, in the eyes of onlookers, overshadow the person who shows up in a G-Wagen. (Side note: to me, the G-Wagen is a classic example of a wildly irrational purchase by the majority of those who purchase it).

The funny thing is the general public doesn't care or even notice any of these vehicles. No one notices if you are driving a Mercedes GLS or a Toyota Sienna. Most who buy "true SUVs" never take them off-road. I see more minivans when camping than Land Cruisers or Defenders.

I love the look of my Lucid Air, but it really doesn't get any attention. It's just another sedan to most people. I pick up my kids at school regularly in the Air, and no one notices. I recently purchased a new BMW M2 and drove it the other day and it got tons of attention from the high school kids. My son's friends love it because it's something they dream of owning, not the Lucid. No one dreams of owning a luxury sedan or SUV outside of a rare vehicle like a G-wagon.

Lucid could have made the Gravity a boxy, super aggressive looking SUV and it would still just be another SUV.

Very different from my experience. Even after almost three years, I still have people come up and ask me about the car. I almost never go the the local carwash dry-off area without ending up in a conversation with someone about the car. (What has surprised me is how many women ask about the car.) And I still enjoy parking the car at a restaurant where I can view it from the table to watch how many people slow down to look as they walk past it or even walk around it and look in.

I still get lots of looks and questions all the time. Perhaps that is because I have the Eureka Gold and so many comment they love the color and haven't seen any before in this shade.

Similar to the Air, there are some colors that really catch the eye (Zenith Red and Sapphire blue for Air). Reviews of the Air aesthetic had divided stances, but what I've noticed is that almost all reviewers found a color combo pleasing to them, particularly with the release of the stealth package.

I imagine the same will occur with the Gravity (notice most reviews are of the Green, by far the most popular and well-received color). If you order it in a neutral color, you are unlikely to garner a ton of attention or receive a ton of "Wow!" compliments from reviewers and bystanders. This has been observed first hand in my white Air vs the first Air in Zenith Red.

Here is a solution for you, @hmp10. Hold off on the Gravity until you checked this out!

Have you met @xponents ?

shut up minivans suck

it looks nothing like a minivan

I did my darnedest to make minivans cool, opening up the rear tailgate to pull out my surfboard stored inside and everything. Was a very proud owner of two Honda Odysseys.

Have no objection at all to Gravity’s so-called “minivan looks”.

here is the link

Well, at least it looks better than Justin Bieber's custom Rolls Royce.

There is just some level of wealth at which people should be kept off the road.
