Electrify America charging free?

I suspect that Lucid is still working on billing for EA plug and charge so EA will still be free, for now, after the 1 or 3 year expiration. This is why we see some changes in the app.

I am sure EA is getting paid for every charge. Lucid would NOT charge our credit card for EA charges. So, if your charge was free it is because Lucid is paying for it. The second Lucid stops paying, EA will ask for a credit card.

I am also sure Lucid will stop paying for EA exactly when your free charging contract ends.

The credit card on file with Lucid is for the IDLE fees if EA charges those. If you never have IDLE fees during the free charging promotion period, Lucid will not charge your card. Once the promotional period ends, you will pay EA directly.

This is not accurate. Once the promotion ends, Lucid will still be the ones who charge you, passing the funds through to EA. That is how plug and charge will still work.

However, I do not know if or when that will actually start being charged.

If you don’t use PnC and instead initiate the charge through the EA app, then EA will charge you directly.

That is not what the terms say.

Is this why every time I try plug and charge I have to authenticate in the Lucid app?
My success rate for plug and charge has basically gone to 0 and am trying to figure out if it is a change in the process or an issue with hardware after my HV battery was replaced.

You may want to have Customer Care check your Plug and Charge certificate. The number of EA Plug and Charge issues seems to have decreased for most people.

These terms? https://lucidmotors.com/s3fs-public/pdf/lucid-charging-terms-and-conditions-082724.pdf

Section 3 pretty much states what I stated. But I’d love to be corrected! IANAL; it just reads pretty explicitly to me.
Ha.

interesting. it reads different for me. :)

3. Charging and Idle Fees. Unless you receive a complimentary charging package or subscribe to a service plan with preferred rates, you will be charged through your Lucid Charging Service at standard rates that are available on the Lucid Mobile App. If you receive a complimentary charging package, your complimentary access and charging begins on the date you are enrolled and the Lucid Charging Service is activated for your Lucid vehicle. Your complimentary access will expire at the end of the LUCID CHARGING TERMS AND CONDITIONS, v.01, EN-US Page 1 complimentary package term; complimentary charging will automatically terminate once the complimentary charging has been fully consumed or at the expiration of the charging package term, whichever occurs first. You will be notified prior to the expiration of your Lucid Charging Service. If you do not enroll in a subsequent plan, your Lucid Charging Service will be terminated upon expiration of your current plan and your access to charging networks and paid support services through the Lucid Charging Service will end. In the event that your Lucid Charging Service terminates, you will be responsible for paying all energy costs directly. A charging session lasts from connecting to disconnecting the vehicle (plugging in to plugging out). When the vehicle is fully charged or when it reaches a battery level stated by the charging network for that site, idle or congestion fees may be incurred if the vehicle is not disconnected from the charger. The amount of the idle or congestion fee may vary by time and location; please refer to rates posted at the charging site. If you incur energy charges, idle fees, congestion fees, or any other charges, you agree to pay using the payment method on file and grant authorization to Lucid and/or the applicable third-party payment- processor to charge your payment method. You will be responsible for payment of all taxes, tariffs, levies, or duties applicable to your payment.

Now, I do have plug and charge with another EV manufacturer. The way it works with GM, is that the app has EV providers on it. You connect your personal account to it and your personal credit card. ONce that is done, you are charged directly to your card for PnC even though you use the GM app.

Car manufacturers have no interest in taking in the cost of accepting payment then sending money to EA, or Chargepoint or EVgo, etc... I will bet that Lucid will do the same.

This part you didn’t emphasize is the important sentence. I’m pretty sure I’m reading it correctly.

But I guess we’ll all find out in time!

I guess my EA free subscription has terminated based on my vehicle information. I can make the slog to an EA station to verify this later, since it's 30+ minutes away:

I only have three months left on mine. I'll be sad when it's over.

I've got 19 days! :P

I'm one of the few lucky early Touring owners who got a full three years of charging. So I'm good until December 23, 2025. Almost a year from now. And the day before my lease ends.

Just came back from an EA charger. Even though the plan is "inactive" according to my IOS app, the charging history and email receipt indicate the cost was free.
I should add that I have three years of free charging ending in April of 2026

It's gone back and forth so much. I bought in March 2023 and only got two years.

We had our cars delivered the same day, right? With Peter in Costa Mesa? We have 3 years on that vehicle 🤔

We did. I wonder if it depends on the order date rather than the delivery date. Or a new order vs taking a car that was already in stock? Mine was ordered on March 10th, delivered on the last day of March. It definitely says only 2 years. The one I ordered and picked up at the end of 2022 had 3 years.

I got my Pure in June 24, and was told absolutely no free charging. Didn’t make any road trips until this past weekend, and charged at 2 different EA spots for free both times. No idea why, or how long it will last. Just enjoying it while I can.
