WARNING: This is another of my tedious posts about Gravity tire choices. Proceed at your own risk.
On the Pirelli website I found that they make a P Zero (PZ4) tire in their "ELECT" EV series that will fit the 21/22" midsize wheel package. Moreover, the tire is available with the "Seal Inside" feature that keeps the tire from losing pressure should the tread be punctured by a nail or screw (which they say is about 85% of tire punctures).
However, these tires are in the "Marked" series of Pirelli tires, meaning they were engineered in cooperation with specific automakers (such as with the Pirelli/Lucid LM1 and LM2 tires). In this case, the front tire is marked "NIO" and the rear is "BMW".
Tire Rack does not show the P Zero summer tire as available for the mid-size Gravity wheel package, nor do they stock the NIO and BMW tires. However, I called them and confirmed those tires would be suitable for the Gravity, as they have the load (XL) and speed (Y) ratings required for the Gravity. (By the way, the Gravity specs are now loaded into the Tire Rack database.)
The Tire Rack sales rep is having their purchasing department contact Pirelli to see if they can special order those tires, and he will get back to me when he finds out.
Several reviewers, including Kyle Conner, thought the mid-size wheels might be the "sweet spot" between handling and ride/impact considerations. So, if I can actually procure the Pirelli P Zeros for those wheels, I'm seriously thinking about switching my DE order to those wheels.
As I've had to replace several punctured tires due to the constant construction in our area, the "Seal Inside" feature -- which is not included in the Pirellis that come on the largest Gravity wheels -- is a huge attractor for me. Also, as a punctured tire can be driven normally and indefinitely when it seals, it reduces the risk of being stranded on a road trip while waiting to order a tire for those big wheels, as almost no tire shop would keep them in stock.
